I am so glad that RU-vid exists so that all of this great music can be preserved and enjoyed. I am 52 and little did I think that when I saw them on the Andy Griffith show as a kid I would still be enjoying their music. This music uplifts the soul. Thank you very much for posting.
I’m early 30s and the first time I heard this song was also on the Andy Griffith Show as a kid. I didn’t even understand the song but good God did I cry. Beautiful music.
That is really good stuff! Bet Andy and the other Dillard boys are playing along up in Heaven cuz this is Heavenly stuff! Thanks sooo much! 👍🗣🎼🎻🎸🥰👏👏👏👏👏
Been watching ANDY this morning...never grow tired and been watching since it first aired...The Darlings just arrived in town and had to find There Is A Time and have a listen!

Fantastic! His voice gave me chills! I would have given a millions bucks to see them perform!! All I can do now is sit by and watch those I admire fade away, one by one... Namaste, always-Silver

Rodney Dillard can certainly sing this song the way it should be performed, his instruments are excellent, last but not least female vocalist is also very well represented in this wonderful performance of a song that is ageless!

I loved it when Maggie Peterson (no relation that I know of) did the vocals on this song. It's a nice song by itself but when done by Maggie it added a new dimension to it.

After discovering this song a couple of weeks ago and listening to every version i could, i think this live performance by the original singer is my favourite version

Really? I'd like to smack that kid with that banjo. Doug Dillard's lead was fairly simple to play, and it fit perfectly. The banjo drove this tune, and nobody is driving the bus here. Too much Bela, nit enough Earl. Plus the original was in cut time and it's screwing with the vibe here by changing it.
“There Is a Time” Song by The Dillards There is a time for love and laughter The days will pass like summer storms The winter winds will follow after But there is love and love is warm There is a time for us to wander When time is young and so are we The woods are greener over yonder The path is new the world is free There is a time when leaves are fallin' The woods are gray the paths are old The snow will come when geese are callin' You need a fire against the cold There is a time for us to wander When time is young and so are we The woods are greener over yonder The path is new the world is free So do your roaming in the springtime You’ll find your love in the summer sun The frost will come and bring the harvest And you can sleep when day is done There is a time for us to wander When time is young and so are we The woods are greener over yonder The path is new the world is free Life is like a roll’in river With no regrets as it moves on Around the bend a shining morning To greet the friends we thought were gone There is a time for us to wander When time is young and so are we The woods are greener over yonder The path is new the world is free
The version with "Darlene" on the Andy Griffith show will always hold a special place in my heart but the vocal harmonies here electrifying. Sound quality is also excellent.
That was intentional, she was just a little too loud for background harmonies. You can hear her do it throughout the entire song on the same two notes in the chorus, she just backed off a bit. She’s actually on point the whole song. But Rodney missed a line of a verse. 😊 But he gets to do what he wants, it’s his lovely song!
This is a beautiful rendition of this song. I love the fiddle solo. I do wish the cajon player would play in single time as apposed to half...it makes this upbeat song sound like its dragging horribly
@@joshuafuller9898 ....He's kinda playing a half time country rock beat....(which makes the song drag) It would sound better if he was playing a snare drum, with brushes and playing a regular country feel....

I'm from Chicago but my mom was from Bosavein Virginia, a small coal mining town in the Appalachia's. Now I'm 61 and as long as I can remember my family sang this song. And now my long time friend was born and raised not to far from where my mom was born and raised knows this song. Rodney was born in Illinois like myself. Missouri is in the south? I can't believe that. well Kentucky is a union state. Imagine that! God Bless
From Salem often plays in Branson. Check out the interview with Rodney on The Ozark Music Shoppe channel. Great music and really shows Rodney's funny bone.
