The song doesn't have much to the young. As we get older we fully understand it's meant. The 4 seasons to our life. Spring, Summer, Fall, and the darkness of Winter.
I watched this show since my childhood and now I'm an old man. I'm pretty sure everyone that played on the show is gone now. Thank God we have RU-vid and TV stations that keep these classic shows going. We get a glimpse into the past and realize how good life use to be. It takes our mind off of how the world is today. It gives us time to reflect on memories of the past and our friends and family who are no longer with us. When I was a child my grandfather and I watched this show everyday at 5pm, we always had supper early so we wouldn't miss it.
Andy Sure Couldn't Take His Eyes Off Charlene... Love The Song And People Singing It. Too Bad They Don't Make Shows Like This Anymore... Such A Shame!😪😪😪😪💔💔💔💔
Aww omg I can't believe Charlene passed away today 😭😭😭 I was just listening to this song last night. I literally listened to this and thought of her. She was truly a beautiful ray of sunshine
Let charlene her memory and her love will not be forgotten she will be remember and be missed let her music be remember there is time be remember all generations playing music it's popular everyone plays that song if everyone doesn't know how to play there is time.
I Absolutely Love These Types Of Shows. They Remind Me Of When Things Were Better And Happier. Why Can't There Be Shows Like That Anymore? BECAUSE WE NEED THOSE SO DESPERATELY!😪😪😪😪
Andy's face in this clip makes me well up with emotion. To me the look on his face freezes Charlene's youth and innocence and her kind heart in a second of time. I'm not saying it right how I feel. This is one of those moments where everything lines up. The line "we need a fire against the cold" is haunting. The banjo her worn swearer with the holes Andy's face when he stops playing to watch her, it all comes together. This is by far my favorite scene out of all the seasons of the show. That and the old fashioned wringer washing machine on their back porch. It's only shown one time in all the years on tv. Im75 so I get sappy seeing and hearing some things.
Just a great scene. The comic components don’t detract from the authentic delivery of a beautiful song, and it’s completely free of unnecessary embellishments. The repeated shots of Andy’s face, and when he eventually stops to just take it in, are as good as TV has ever been.
As you get older thr message of this song hits home even more. I've been listening to it for 11 years and every time I wish I could go back to live my life over. 😩 If I could there's many many things I wouldn't miss out on that I have now.
I still watch this show . It doesn't matter how many times I see the same things and laugh . Those to me were good times . Things were left to the imagination, life and people were respected and respectful towards eachother. People honored the American flag. They went to church. I don't know what is going to be in this country at the rate we are going now . Its really sad that things have changed so much. What do our grandchildren have to look forward to???
The same was said in the '60s. Vietnam War, civil rights protests, campus riots drug culture out of control and as far as going to church, ask the people who sent their children only to be molested by priests. You have a selective memory, but if that makes you feel better so be it.
d hart John was trying to speak of a particular era by leaving out the worst of the worst. This clip came from after Korean War and before Vietnam. Yes, there's been much grief after that as well.
Well said.. A Time before terrible ( cocaine the Devils dandruff) and other drugs took control of the world and corrupted every family in the world 🌎..first time watching this show..🤔🤣😂✨🕯🌿🎶🧘♀️🎶🌿🕯✨
@@dhart8451 That was the Catholic Church and the Vatican--rotten to the core since the beginning of their existence. As far as the rest, the politicians and controllers created those events, not the people. Things haven't changed as far as the evil, but the good people are still trying to survive the best they can.
When I was a kid and this show came on I thought it was too old fashioned an uncool. Luckily I grew up and past the top 40 pop stuff - and the beauty of this music and the culture it comes from has grown on me
A beautiful woman singing a beautiful song it's hard not to feel something deep inside. She sings such a wonderful picture of a young couple just starting out and knowing what's ahead of them but they'll make it though with a lot of sweat, tears, and the grace of God. Great entertainment all the way around.
They left out the third verse: "So do your roaming in the Springtime And find your love in the Summer sun The frost will come and bring the harvest Then you can sleep when day is done"....
With Maggie singing it. Like I said I have heard other artists including the Dillards but none as beautiful. All the other versions tend to sound faster. Takes away the beauty of Maggie's voice and the bands playing.
Awesome. May she RIP in the Good Lord's grace. Sad to read today of her passing. Sounds like she loved her man, Gus Mancuso, all her life and did not linger too long after he just passed in December 2021.
Love this Song so much I found the Dillards Albumn with this song...The Andy Griffith Show...What a Classic...I can relate to this song. RIP...Charlene....Maggie Peterson
@deborahnesbit1338, Thank you Deborah, I dropped the ball when I didn't post the lyrics but decided not to after being accused of making them up when I commented on another vid of this song.
Any episode with The Darlings was guaranteed to be worth rushing home for. I still try to catch them. I especially live the episode, where we first meet them.
