First off, no scholar is infallible. The statement or action of any scholar isn’t proof in of itself. This is a well known basic principle of ahlusunnah. Secondly, no one said that criticizing the ruler publicly once or twice makes someone a khariji or a deviant. Daniel is taking a few instances/exceptions of what a scholar did in decades and decades of dawah, and is extracting a general principle out of them when he is a layman by his own admission! That’s like saying if a scholar issues a fatwa that someone who is starving in the middle of the desert can eat a little bit of pork to avoid death, then a layman comes along and says that pork is halal. That’s exactly what Daniel is doing here. Show me where did any scholar of ahlusunnah go on a nonstop for weeks on end bashing the rulers by name publicly and making it the sole focus of their dawah?? Thirdly, what names did Saajid call Daniel here?? He just pointed out his dishonesty and foul language. Daniel is the one calling others names.

It leads to revolts and that people refrain from hearing and obeying in that which is allowed. It leads to something that only harms and benefits nothing. Salaf’s followed methodology is to advise him in seclusion, write to him and let the scholars contact him so that they can lead him to that which is good. The sins should be mentioned without the mentioning of the sinner. Fornication, spirits and interest [all of these] should be condemned without condemning the one who falls into them. It is enough that one condemns the sins and warns against them without mentioning the sinner, regardless if he is the ruler or anybody else. When the tribulation of ‘Uthmân’s (radhiya Allâhu ‘anh) time broke out, some people said to Usâmah bin Zayd (radhiya Allâhu ‘anh): “Will you not condemn ‘Uthmân?” He answered: “Should I condemn him amongst the people? I will condemn him in seclusion without opening the gate of evil to the people.” When they initiated the evilness in the time of ‘Uthmân (radhiya Allâhu ‘anh) and condemned him publicly, the tribulation, battles and corruption became a fact. To this day one finds traces of all that. It led to the Fitnah between ‘Alî and Mu’âwiyah. ‘Uthmân and ‘Alî were killed because of it. Many companions and others were killed because of the public condemnation. As a result, the people started hating their ruler and killed him.

Some of their men will have the hearts of devils in a human body." I said, “O Messenger of Allah, what should I do if I live to see that time?” The Prophet said: تَسْمَعُ وَتُطِيعُ لِلْأَمِيرِ وَإِنْ ضُرِبَ ظَهْرُكَ وَأُخِذَ مَالُكَ فَاسْمَعْ وَأَطِعْ "You should listen and obey them even if the ruler strikes your back and takes your wealth, even still listen and obey." Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1847, Grade: Sahih Awf ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: خِيَارُ أَئِمَّتِكُمْ الَّذِينَ تُحِبُّونَهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَكُمْ وَيُصَلُّونَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَتُصَلُّونَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَشِرَارُ أَئِمَّتِكُمْ الَّذِينَ تُبْغِضُونَهُمْ وَيُبْغِضُونَكُمْ وَتَلْعَنُونَهُمْ وَيَلْعَنُونَكُمْ "The best of your rulers are those whom you love and they love you, who pray for you and you pray for them. It was said, “Shall we confront them with swords?” The Prophet said: لَا مَا أَقَامُوا فِيكُمْ الصَّلَاةَ وَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ مِنْ وُلَاتِكُمْ شَيْئًا تَكْرَهُونَهُ فَاكْرَهُوا عَمَلَهُ وَلَا تَنْزِعُوا يَدًا مِنْ طَاعَةٍ "No, as long as they establish prayer among you. If you find something hateful from them, you should hate their actions but not withdraw your hand from obedience." Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1855, Grade: Sahih So, we obey the Muslim ruler except if he tells us to do something which is sinful, since we should not obey anyone in the disobedience of Allah. There are many more ahadith pertaining to this matter that I can bring if you want.

There are many scholars who are currently invested in teaching young muslims how to keep up with the liberal world. They are doing what they are good at. The only way we can prevent islam from being ‘liberalism with a flavor of islam’ is to have more people who can come out and speak the laws of islam without immediately sugar-coating the law with moral principles. But many are afraid to do it and their worries are legit, no hate to them(me included). The best we can do is not criticize a brother who is going against all odds just to say- all we need is allah and his word, no matter how tough the times are.

While he is a smart man his tone is very hateful and such hate could drive people away from Islam instead of closer. Islam isn't about arguing and criticizing all the time, it's about faith and watching his videos one can easily forget that. When I used to watch his videos a lot I went to a very dark headspace and alhamdullila I'm now out of it after returning to more traditional scholars and focusing on the aqeeda more
