@bigevilworldwide1 Disney is offering to finance 50% of the budget in return for 50% of the profits while still being the ones to actually make the films. That is not greedy. In reality it is greedy to get another company to make your films while you get 95% of the profits from it, profit that was guaranteed by the films being in the MCU. Who exactly is to blame is unknown because we still don't have all the information and likely never will.

Disney altered the deal so that instead of earning 5% of the gross they would be earning 50%. That is stupidly absurd. They also wanted to earn 50% OF ALL OF SONY'S INDEPENDENT SPIDERMAN MOVIES. So Disney would've earned half of Morbiuis', Kraven's and Spiderverse 2's profits. And because this was a stupid ass deal Sony walked out. And they can manage without Marvel, Venom and Spiderverse have been financial hits, and in the past they made Spiderman 1 and 2 which are still seen as some of the greatest Comic book movies of all time. Even SM3, ASM, ASM2 were successful, and people think ASM3 AND 4 were cancelled because ASM2 was hated, but it was all over Garfield being plane sick and not feeling like attending a conference, so they axed him and then couldn't really go on with the leading man out. Sony are a pretty shitty company, I mean literally the day before they acquire Insomniac Games (which was a good business decision) but ultimately it will mean their games will never be on another platform. But THIS whole deal was Disney's fault

No other studios even come close, not even Disney. WB already did what Disney are doing back in the 90's when they bought DC, Hanna Barbra, Castlerock, and the entire MGM library all within the space of a couple years. Only difference is Disney's purchases are more recent and they've turned them into much bigger successes than WB have ever managed to.

@bigevilworldwide1 When I referred to Fox I was suggestion using the 20th Century branding, not Fox. And they have said that they would be making Deadpool 3 Rated R at Fox. That project is being moved to Feige and Disney, for all we know it could be rated R or PG13. The likely outcome is it being released under a separate brand with vague ties to the MCU (like the tv shows) and Rated R, and then he pops up in the mainline MCU but is PG13

@@munjee2 Pulp Fiction was already filmed when Disney bought Mirimax so thye were forced to release it to prevent it from being a waste of money. Good will on the other hand was because Mirimax had almost complete independence of Disney, like how Marvel does today but Disney still got the final say on things. Starship troopers on the other hand is curious, Disney only distributed it outside of North America and I can't seem to find any evidence as to why they did that. Disney is alright with doing R Rated stuff, I mean the Netflix MCU stuff was all R rated. They just want it to be separate from the Disney brand like Fox is. Daredevil was still under the Marvel brand but it was only viewable on a Non-kids netflix user so that seems to be the logic behind why that was ok.

All signs point to the MCU remaining PG into the future. This does not bode well for Blade or Deadpool. I'm not so worried about Alien and Predator, because those franchises are effectively dead.

It actually is a great movie, I didnt even remember Queen did the soundtrack.

Disney bought ALL of Star Wars, so merchandising, TV, film, comics toys etc.. so it was well worth the price. Disney however already own Spiderman toys, tv, comics but not the movies. And with it being Sony's most successful franchise they're not going to sell for a reasonable price. So lets say he sells for 4 billion USD hypothetically, even though it would never happen. Disney will then make a movie and the budget will be 175 million (Homecoming budget). It makes 800 million at the box office(HC Gross). Say another 140 million on marketing (HC Advertising cost) and we see that the movie would make 485 million in profit. Which is a lot but Disney prefers bigger profits. So if we assume future spiderman movies will make that amount of money (which is unlikely) then it would take 8 more Spiderman movies to make it profitable. If they bought Spiderman it would be one of the most stupid business decisions ever, and would likely make their stock plummet from such a stupid decision. So no, tey can't just BUY Spiderman

My brother and I recorded a small library of movies that became like gold for me at age 12-16. I must have watched the Sam Jones Flash Gordon about 30 times. Other highlights: Jaws, Time Bandits, the Poseidon Adventure, 2001, Gallipoli and Close Encounters. Must have seen each 20 times, at least. Ah, that lost Betamax library...

They should have 70% since all Sony are doing realistically is funding the film. This is another example of Disney's corporate greed. There is no reason why Sony should pay 50% even with 50% profits. Because they aren't really touching Spiderman or the film. Disney just wanted a way to shunt away their expenses. They know they could afford to throw down $1billion to a movie and demand Sony to do the same to meet 50/50. And when Sony bleeds enough, they could buy them out.

When Fox eventually has to give back Spiderman: "You couldn't live with your own failure. And where did that bring you? Back to me."

But it's the same general plot and by the way, they changed the name of the novel to take advantage of the film. Also, they list the book as the adaptational source. So... yeah. It's a book adaptation.

McClane and Leland aren't really all that similar either, so it's not really similar to Donald Westlake's Parker character and his variously-named movie adaptations. So, no, the Detective and Die Hard are not related.
