Love this album. So nice to see the footage of making it. You can really hear Nigel's inlfuence in it and I'm glad Neil listened to him on Eye of the Needle, keeping it simple. It's one of my favorite DC tunes.
This is great. It’s a beautiful album. Saddens me that it’s not Neil’s favourite recording experience - and you can see the tensions towards the end of this. Neil and Nigel both geniuses
Sorry, this is all I have. As mentioned in the description, it was on a free cd. Have you seen the other DC videos I've uploaded? The Across The Line ones are my favourites.
Beautiful, really, thanks for sharing; imho Regeneration is the best album ever by The Divine Comedy;, it's in my all-times top-10, together with Forever Changes by Love, "Heroes" by Bowie and some others.
Absolutely. When people ask, 'What's your favourite Radiohead album?' I always answer 'Regeneration', and I mean that most sincerely because Thom and the lads, for all their ingenuity, don't have a Neil Hannon in the band, or musicians of the calibre present on Regen (except when they hire Clive D). If you want to add an lp to that list, try 'Begin' by The Millennium.
@@telsutton I know what you mean! It would have been hailed a classic if it was made by Radiohead or Elbow or someone 'cooler'. It was produced by Nigel Godrich, who has worked with Radio head since OK Computer.
Great album. Reputation marred by it being a departure for Neil, not his favorite record, and the obvious Radiohead emulation boosted by Nigel’s hand. Cathartic listening experience.
I stumbled upon this album while looking at Nigel Godrich discography. Comparing this to Paul McCartney's Chaos and Creation in the background (also produced by Nigel), this album feels more hopeful than the McCartney's album. I interpret this album personally as a midlife crisis album, but the way it was produced, the little hints of music feels like a light in an endless tunnel of dread. Which is the reverse of the McCartney's album, which is a pop love song album, but the music hints of ominous cracks that lurks around in those love songs. Which really describes McCartney's relationship with Mills.
Thank you so much for uploading this, I've been looking for this for such a long time since I saw a streaming version of this from the DC home page in the 90's. But if I remember correctly, there is more of this, approx 30 minutes. Do you have the rest? I'm pretty sure it starts with Regeneration (the song), showing the recording of the guitar parts or something. Do you have it? Are you planning on uploading it? I would be so grateful! Thanks again!
