In Diablo IV you ARE forced to do seasonal characters which is one of the many many many reasons why I left all Blizzard games.

Changing the season title to Intel instead of manhunt isn't impressive. Same missions same map same enemies.

Just stop playing....if it's making you sick, stop playing. They will never make a new game if the old is still racking in a profit.

@freshcity victim mentality. This is why developers make these games that are literally designed to keep you playing the same bs for years because they know the longer you play, the more money you'll spend on in-game currency 🤣. One day, you will wake up and realize you got scammed into spending real money on loot boxes for a chance to receive a weapon skin but instead receive the same boots you got 5x already. When you wake up, it will piss you off, and then the idea of "stop playing" won't seem like a difficult choice.

What’s this seasonal character thing

For the season it self, afterwards then we go back to our main. I have 8 mains tho, got two accounts 8 characters. all with different builds for each character. Need more load out space.

Yea and D4 originally had the same thing planned but decided to hear to players feedback and luckily scrapped it. Noone wants to farm all the renowned again, same for Division.

You don’t know how to think to do the right missions to get through the missions I could go with my clan members and finish that game mode in 20 minutes a good team it’s called those things you need to realize that everything ain’t gonna go your way in life they doing the best they can. Well. First off, it's 5 years old, not 6. Second, devs already mentioned new player retention is low because of how far behind they are in terms of leveling. I have no doubt once seasons 2.0 releases, play count and player retention will see new highs.

@@dw4897 I have absolutely no doubt that player retention will be much higher in seasons 2.0 than player retention is in the current seasonal model. Most of us just get on for a few hours to do the manhunt missions then get off because other than these missions, there isn't anything else to grind. Majority of the player base has had maxed out builds for over 2 years.

Plus How would that even work anyway? What happens to our main Agent who is practically a One Man/Woman Army for us to play a completely different Agent. I heavily doubt that they thought of this. Cause to this day there still isn’t a good explanation on what happened to the Division 1 Agent. All those hours for nothing. I’m convinced they are doing this out of spite cause Heartland got canned and their current games aren’t looking so good.

That's why the game needs to wipe. Too many people have multiple maxed builds. Too many are complaining about seasons 2.0, but don't even understand that seasonal characters start right into the endgame at SHD level 1. If people can't understand that, then they sure as hell haven't put in the time to think about how seasons 2.0 will tie into the DLC and new engame re-work. They have been working on these changes for over 2 years. There's still a lot more we don't know yet and ya'll are kidding yourselves if seasonal wipes in the only thing they have been working on. People complain about them losing time, but what's the difference between seasons 2.0 and The Division 3? You still lose all of your in The Division 2 when 3 releases. Too add, XP and progression literally transfer to main characters after each season anyway.

Yes I agree with you. I have said this for a while like why not give us every weapon of every kind on the loot pool no locking weapons or gear make it worth it you know like the first game but They won’t though.

You won’t lose it essentially you’ll be making a new character apart from your main. You’ll have both but your main won’t be able to access seasonal content which is complete bs.

I decided no more Ubisoft games when I quit the Division 4 years ago. They have a solid history of updates which destroys players' builds they've spent countless hours farming.

CC's are all about " Join this channel " , they don't give a shit . Players need the understand that .

Expertise doesn't mean much when players can level up every new piece of gear that comes into the game because most players are sitting on 1k+ SHD scavenging points. Seasons 2.0 is exactly what the game needs. Many of us haven't had anything to grind for over two years.

Either way, seasonal character wipes is what the game needs. We will see a rise in player count and retention. Just look at any other looter shooter that has regular wipes. They all have high player retention and player count always spikes the week of wipes. Whether or not people see it now, Seasons 2.0 will have a great benefit to the game and I have no doubt seasons 2.0 will complement the DLC and new endgame re-work.

@@dylanmelotti4301 im sure it will but those players have short attention spans and if massive is all about catering to them and it looks like they are then its going to change how this game is played, it will no longer be an RPG were we have a character that we grow from nothing, no skills, no gear, no nothing! They want any new player to be able to come along at any time and pick up the game, play end game content instantly and be on power with the player base who's been part of the franchise from day one, knows the game mechanics inside out, here's the big point though, i play seasons and we get low ranked players and they get carried through the content to an extent but many are fine and youve got to remember seasons is PVE so what does it matter too a newcomer if im SHD 5000 and they are 50, the game scales, it would only matter if it was PVP! And thats what no one has picked up on! So if season is going to have PVP elements to it then newcomers will never be able to compete with a player who's 100's of pvp hours in the game even if they have the same gear, same skills, the experienced players will always come out on top!i have four characters on div 1 and div2, i use each of them but my main character is my main character because ive 1000's of hours on him compared to my others which are 100's. Ive experienced every part of the game with him, got my eagle bearer with him, grind the DZ with him and the crazy moments have been endless, you lose that with seasons 2.0 and given that this is an experiment for how they are going to develop div 3 we are going to see such a massive shift away from how its played now and who plays it, i dont see how it benefits anyone, massive have constantly made changes to force players to play and enjoy the game they way they want them too not how the player want too, its been like this from day one! They were so p155ed off the player base weren't using cover in the dz as they had planed the mechanics to work that they nerfed the mobility of the player, who does that lol the DZ in div 1 was amazing and still is, they didnt like how we used it so in div 2 they made it smaller and with less players essentially killing it, its the biggest reason why many stopped playing it and the reason if i load up div 1 and go to the DZ its going to be kicking off 10 years later. There has always been a problem between the developers and the veteran players but season 2.0 could be the end of that relationship, theres a reason why they dont tell us too much at once!

@@ianmcdonald3053 Seasonal wipes matter in PvE because many of us have been playing on maxed out builds for over two years. Many veteran players log on for a couple hours for the manhunt missions then sign off. When new gear is introduced, we use X amount of SHD scavenging points and are able to level up each new gear piece in under 5 minutes. We don't need to grind any gear or level up to do seasonal missions because we're already maxed gear and have a maxed out watch making these mission fairly easy to do. Most people finish the manhunt missions in the same day they release. In seasons 2.0 and the endgame revamp (whatever that is) we will have to actually go into the game to re-loot gear/materials and resources to get a build together so we will be able to complete the seasonal missions and progress the season. The fact we aren't geared out of our ass will create an incentive to complete projects, do global events, invaded projects for the rewards and loot. This means bringing value back into the DZ, open world activities, missions, supply drops and going out into the world to collect materials and resources because we will actually need them to optimize our build, upgrade gear and progress though the seasonal events. For those who like looting in DZs, when seasons 2.0 drops, finding a piece of gear we want will hit different because we will actually need to extract that piece of gear to develop our builds again. Most loot drops have no value to many players because we simply don't need any new gear. I have 20 caches to open and my DZ stash if full at 60, and don't even bother looking at or picking up loot drops in the open world because I don't need anything at all and this is the common issue with long time players. We are maxed out on everything in the game with nothing left to grind out at all. This is why other looter shooter do wipes because at some point the majority of the player base has so much high end gear and resources giving the player absolutely nothing left to grind for and burn out the player base. This is the same reason why games that do character wipes see spikes in player count when their character wipes, people like the grind. Again, people do not see it now, but seasons 2.0 will bring back the grind and make the gameplay loop feel fresh again.

You’re not being stripped, per se, but you are being locked out of story progression. Implementing a seasonal character model in this game at this point in its lifespan makes zero sense to me.

@@synthetadyne I completely agree. It's very pointless. And being locked out of story progression does feel like I'm being forced to not use the character I've worked so hard on. That was an absolute bad call on the Devs part.

@@synthetadyne they've done it to gain new players but the game has been out for almost 7 years so anyone who has wanted to play surely has and probably quit by now. It makes the thought process behind it even more baffling.

@@ShockBot127 You understand that the rumor with the DLC is that it's going to be a PvEvP area like what Heartlands was, which is why they canned that game and is why they are introducing seasonal wipes. If anything, seasons 2.0 will enhance PvP because there won't be such a huge gear gap between new and veteran players. It's a shame people cannot see the benefit of seasons 2.0 and how this will enhance the gameplay loop and grind.

there is a skip campaign mechanic for Diablo and you only need to run through the seasonal content. The issue is still that "most" people do not go back and play the older characters as each new season might change the meta and you have already played through that content. Now if Massive stated that after every season that content became open to the "main world". Then like in Diablo people could wait until the seasons over (i.e. there are Diablo players that never create a seasonal character) and play through the seasonal content in the main world. But, I don't think Massive is planning on putting the seasonal content into the main world (only taking seasonal xp, loot and character back to merge into the main); I could be wrong though. In that scenario if the seasonal content isn't merged then you lose out by NOT creating a seasonal agent.

Yes, when we 2.0 launches if you want to progress in the story you’ll need to create a new character that will be different than your current (new) main. However the XP/rewards you gain on that temporary seasonal character will rotate to your main once the season ends.

People aren't considering how seasonal character wipes will refresh the grind and open world. So many of us have been playing on max builds over the past two years and have gotten used to there being no challenge in the open world. Regular character wipes in looter shooters has proven to be the most successful model, keeping playing retention and increasing player count. Too add, everybody seems to forget that's there's an endgame re-work and DLC that will most likely tie into seasons 2.0. Hard to believe so many grown adults lack the critical thinking to evaluate more than just focusing on the fact our characters wipes, nor consider how this will re-introuce the grind into the game that most of use haven't had in over two years. Even if they brougnt in new activies, what challenge would they bring when we're using the same maxed out, high end builds we have now?
