The Division 2 Seasonal Characters "Literally" Makes No Sense... 

*Am I The Only One Who Feels This Way??*

Imo, the only reason for them to be doing this is: "We've already capitalized the vets through game, DLC and in game purchases. Now they are not giving us profit, so let's give new players a shot and try to capitalize on them." Plain and simple.

My character is at SHD 8500+ and I am at expertise level 26. All the weapons that I regularly use are at level 26 and all of my gear are at level 20 or above. The amount of grinding it took to get there cost me 3165 hours of game time. I finally have my character where I want it to be. Why in this world would I want to shelve this character to start a new one from scratch. What could a new seasonal character possibly give me that I don't already have? The worst part of all this is I can only use my main character after 3.5 months and only then for two weeks. So, in the entire year I can only use my main character (the one I have invested so much time and effort in) for only six weeks. Six weeks! This seasonal character crap is nothing more than a gimmick to attract new players to a 5 year old game for a shameless cash grab. Here is my answer to all of that sh*t...NO...HELL NO! I have a pile of games that I haven't gotten to because I have dedicated my gaming time to the Division franchise. Sometime this fall, when Season 2.0 shows up, I am out of the Division 2.

Them: "The main objective of Seasons 2.0 is to ensure that all players can participate in endgame content on a level playing field" A mainly cooperative PVE shooter game needs level playing field? Level playing field for what? Leagues? DZ? Am I playing Tarkov? Are the current builds people using hurt the AI feelings?

Just make this OPTIONAL ffs. Would 100% solve this issue.

In the interview they kept saying unique experience & i dont understand what is unique about doing the same old activities & missions in a new seasonl character, what was the point of the main character & expertise this is what the community been trying to say & when we said that some content creators labelled this as whining, all what we said & wanted let us do this with our main that we spend thousands of hours grinding, im done with this game as i feel doing this nonsense is pure waste of time thanks for the video.

I don’t like the seasonal character idea either. More storage space would be nice though.

I would prefer to keep the current structure and focus on adding more incursions and perhaps a raid

This might be the right time to leave this game, devs don't listen, managers don't listen, ubisoft will not learn.

This Patch makes it sound like the developers have given up on managing the power creep and this they only way that they can control the game.

Been playing since day 1. All of my friends have gone onto other games. Playing on mm or solo most of the time. Few time occurred to me that I should quit this game, but the pull always there to continue. But now , Massive just gave me a solid reason to walk away.

The FAQ just made the situation worse by making it clearer.

This is how you kill a player base… starting to think the devs don’t want to work on D2 anymore so they are like Devs: “how can we make the fan base hate us and our choices so much that they stop playing and uninstall the game??” Devs “I got it seasonal characters. Their main character that they invested 100 days of playing time in, will be absolutely useless and now the players main character won’t even be in story/lore anymore. But here’s the best part will say everything can be transferred to their main character at the end of the season where they can use them finally for the new content… except a new season starts the week after so they are to repeat it all over again. Plus there’s no stash space or back pack space on any of their main or mules so it will sit with their seasonal character til they have to delete it to make a new new seasonal character” Devs “genius”

Yeep they clarified some stuff I mentioned in my last comment but again. The reason to keep you paying and playing in the grind is to keep you in seasons. Remember they cancelled some projects to funnel money to other projects. They have to figure out ways from a business standpoint to make money off the seasonal pass since they put 70% of the good rewards in the paid track. They need content so bad they brought keener back to life!😂

Seasonal Character is a great Idea and it makes sense. When our Character goes Rogue, at the end of this Season and trust me, we will. Then our Character will go with keener to Brooklyn until the DLC comes really out. In that time we need a new Character to explore DC.

Watch many players characters get accidently "deleted" during the intermission period. Gear is gonna dissapear...there is papertrail of this problem.

We've already created 2nd, 3rd, and 4th characters to farm materials. The community figured that out. Now they're trying to pretend that they're giving it to us as a benefit. That's like telling farmers how to grow crops when they've been doing it with success by themselves.

I have only seen three content creators so far speak out against this. The others seem to be in the mindset of 'tow the line' for Ubisoft. You are the third to speak out against it that i've seen. Everything you just said is how we all feel. I've already told my friends in game that unless this changes then I will be stepping away at the end of the season. Tbh i get where your coming from, ive blindingly been supporting this game saying it will all be sorted out, then this!! Simply because i love the franchise the Lore. For me im praying div3 will be a whole fresh start, new codes, new everything, because if it turns out to be a model over this then we will be screwd. Because thats pretty much all im wanting now, a new division game.

The thing I mostly noticed in their video release was that they acknowledged they could not keep up with the implementations of expertise. I believe they want to bring in new players, but they also weren't planning on this game being out for this long. Either way, I'm extremely disappointed in these new oncoming features as well. I forsee them making the new seasons a continuation of Keener's trials or something to justify taking away everything we worked so hard for in our main characters... I only play PVE... I would love to see Legendary World Setting and not just white tusk enemies. Oh, well. Maybe when it flops, they will come back with better ideas.

for me it´s over. The hole thing of games like this is BUILD YOUR CHAR over the time. Farming/Grinding/MinMaxing. Than they bring new content and i have to do the new char. Thing is that you smoke the new content in 2 Weeks with your fully maxed char. Its all about stretching content. Done with it because its a slap for the Vets. We invested hours and hours in our chars to create a new one for new content? i look forward to D3...a conflict match here and there...but in general thats it for me. best regards from germany

The only thing that makes sense is they are doing this to fix their update issues with future content. Outside of that all of this is just dumb. Will love to see how steep that drop will be in player numbers

They are doing Seasons 2.0 for new players that's why they give all players lv40 for free and screw veterans it's like when warlords was released with gear2.0 and screws was again with reframing

I think I would have been fine with the Diablo like seasonal character setup if they had done this in Year 2 or so not after we’ve invested five years into our characters and after having grinded expertise and SHD levels … and if they did what Diablo does by rebalancing skills each season so we didn’t have to grind the same builds over and over again …

You would think that as smart as the devs are, there would be someone, anyone on that team who would say, "guys, this may not be a good idea" And also guys lets stick to what made the division great in the first place. Yes, we should be inspired by other game, but lets not get carried away. If it aint broke, leave it the hell alone! Unfortunately the egos of top decision makers with this game is not going to permit them from making the best choice for the game. I hope I'm wrong.

as a fortnite STW player this sounds similar to Ventures you start with zero but in Fortnite u can use any hero to get the seasonal rewards to improve you main heros

Hearing the video, It has emerged me a doubt. Which is your main character? The first one that you have created or the one with the highest level? I started playing with friends in the pandemic, but my most upgraded character is one that I created after for solo playing. There is any information about it? Regarding the topic, I am confused as well with the difference at the end between the new and the actual characters that are the main ones. It still has no sense, why the way to manage it and the time frames for each type without more detailed explanation.

No intelligent veteran wants to do seasonal characters, grind,start over,grind,start over,you get the picture.

It's obvious why there is season characters. They want players to buy boosters. They make no money from legacy players anymore. Just wait till seasons 2.0 is launched. You'll see boosters that you'll be able to pay for. "buy 10 SHD levels for $9.99" Seasons 2.0 will kill the player base. I won't be starting from lvl 1 SHD every season.

Doing seasonal characters 6 years after releasing a game is just a very bad idea. Especially for veterans of the division 2 game. I can see alot of veteran players leaving.

I haven't really played the last two seasons. I am a glutton for punishment though and have characters on every platform. I feel like this is a move to get the people who haven't bought the dlc into the economy by allowing them to purchase the seasons and also opening the door for the developers to bring in unique seasonal cosmetic content to put in the store, nothing more.

They also said that the gear you get such as new exotics added in that season which will probably suck anyway, can't be moved to your main character until the intermission period starts. Which basically means if they do add an exotic that looks like it might be good on paper, we aren't really gonna know until the end of the season when we can then test it with all the pieces on our main characters we need to make builds for it and give it real testing.

I don't get it either. And anyway new unique experience where? all we are doing is being forced to start from 0 to play on the same maps and same missions and same enemies to get new gear/weapons. This will get new players in yep to buy seasonal passes and cosmetics (hence why we have just had a Free weekend and a 75% off price for this game with free weekend progress carrying into the full game if you buy it) thats all this is about. PS: Why let all the new stuff transfer over to our main when the main is hardly going to be used for any new story content or new manhunts (that makes no sense either.)

It makes sense from the devs viewpoint as it reduces the effort and cost to pump out content as well as broadening the audience that they can sell apparel to. Only ubi benefit, don't care about players

I can see the other side of it though. You sort of leveling the Playing Field in the DZ. You’re also bringing back a lot of balance that is completely lost. A lot of people are pissed that you can literally get wiped by seekers and sticky burns. I’m hoping it helps mitigate the bullshit when it comes to PVP.

Hi iDentity for me its the same i dont see the reason why they are doing it this way but we will see maybe they have a surprise for our main chars. Do you know anything about the missing blueprints from s3, broken wing, the umbra backpack and some s8 s10 and s11 weapons that are not in the game??

It seems like it has to do with increasing weekly users instead of people getting on once a month or so to complete the new chunk of the manhunt.

The community night be less pissed if the Devs really listened. Not 100 % but at least 80 % on board but the Devs never do.

They are unaliving Div2 cus unfortunately Div3 will be cancelled or not even is in development. That's all what I'm getting with all of this, time to move on hopefully we find another game.

I'm only coming back for new DLC or the Divison 3. I've been playing this game since day 1 and grinded to get my player where I wanted it only for the Devs to do the update about 4 years ago that took away where you could place your yellow and reds and stuff. Came back to my player strong again with my style for them to say I have to grind some more. No thank you. I only have my main player. No seasonal players, no mules , just my one and only and I'm not about to start this process over again unless its for Divison 3. I feel the Devs are lying to us all cause there is no Divison 3 and they just want people to hang around

I wonder if the DEVs feel that they can get away with these bs changes because they are planning to use the excuse that Div2 has a low player count because the Diablo 4 Expansion is also coming out in the same timeframe as seasons 2.0.

They've given up on balancing all the disparate power levels of all us long time players by effectively nerfing us all down to the same level as a fresh start new player so they can target the story progression directly at those new players and F U to us older players if we don't like it. Basically they are saying either keep using your main on the same old shit or start fresh and come have fun with the rest of us. Pretty shitty thing to do if you ask me. =/

Ubisoft done turned all of our main character's into mules for the seasonal characters and wants us ogs to just pretend its a W when its really not.

I mean I may be alone on this one but all I need is a few new legendary missions maybe a new incursion and master difficulty.

It's their solution for power creep. I get it BUT it lasts too long.Everything but watch lvls and expertise including should be available for the new toon. Vets would have some perks for having played for so long and new players would have time to grind their watch. This should last a few weeks there would be a smaller gap between vets and new players. It would make for a fun season start, vets would make gains for their main, new comers would have a pretty good head start. Implementing seasonal toons is a gamble to make for a game this old and not made for this in mind. They're not ding it well either..

I have spent too much time (267+ DAYS OF PLAY TIME) on my 2 main character that I keep up to date. Just to shelve them to use the a new character. The decent mode is the worst. Why not survival or underground. Modes that the people want. I don't want to start over! The end is closer than I thought. Just sad. I need a new game.

Somehow, entire playerbase will be forced to plan their lives around those 2 last weeks when everybody can align their main character with the seasonal one and can play the new content with their main. If you don't play seasonal content you'll never have access to new gear, weapons, rewards, whatever from new season(s) and you'll gain nothing. Basically, developers will plan everybody's lives in such way that the entire playerbase will have to play inside that 2 weeks timeframe to experience new content with their main character. Given the poor infrastructure and weak servers the game already runs on, this means a huge overload on servers, long queue lists, a lot of disconnections, crashes and everything in between. I'd say it's not the brightest idea they could've come up with, let alone that veteran players will deeply hate to start over from scratch and grind everything over and over again every 4 months. The WONY mule is another story, that's a ~2 hours work from time to time, but this seasonal character thing they intend to intoduce in game is more like a 4 months Descent as main game. What? All this tells me they want to hide their incompetence and inability to make things work in a proper way, they are incapable to balance the game, in every way, so they came up with this nonsense.

Hey ID, it's not clear from a veteran player's perspective. Massive seems to have a focus on new players, and it seems like they made a decision to take on veteran players and their power cap in this way. They expect us, veterans, to train and help new players from our experience, who face a new experience within the game (from 1 to 40, not counting WONY). It's not that they don't understand veterans, but they simply can't balance a game where any player with a lot of hours invested in their character can do any content, with any difficulty and never find a balance between gameplay, synergy, equipment and skills, etc. It's very sad that they focus on testing mode (money) for the next game, and give up on how to properly balance the endgame over the years. If they never learn how to properly balance the endgame in these types of firms, we will never have a decent game where veterans and new players coexist.

It’s the devs creating a pts game, so they can change it as they see fit, and you get some rewards for playing it.

I'll try to keep this short... But no one seems to be looking at this the way I am and I'm wondering what I'm missing. Isn't this sort of a CAMPAIGN style approach to the season tho? Meaning the devs want to have us play through a scripted campaign/season where these over powered Striker/St Elmo builds with 26% added damage don't become the crutch with which we address every challenge within the content?! I mean idk about everyone else but when we got the incursion, ultimately it was 3 Strikers and a medic that got us through nearly all of the content... Just like they're getting folks thru all of the Legendary missions... Just like they're getting folks thru all of the Manhunts!lol So in a world where the devs have certain mechanics they want us to "figure out" and play thru IN ORDER TO PROPERLY PROGRESS THE STORY...I can see where they want to limit skeleton key builds that don't have to follow that script because they can answer all obstacles with sheer power. As an example, think about parts of missions now where a timer is involved or we're supposed to be "ambushed" (Idk how many of you have unloaded on the arsonists in the Potomac Center as their lighting the floors on fire or have killed Kadjika minutes before he's even able to monologue and ignite the steam lol) but those moments during the season may get magnified into a confusing, glitched out mess if the power levels of the agents aren't under some sort of guideline! Does that make sense??! And that's not even considering the newer mechanics and modifiers that may get an unwanted boost from them... Similar to the SHD exposure actually killing normal level npc's if your Eclipse/Vile mask is strong enough...I learned that once just the other day but I don't think that's intended! Lbvs

love the vid but in my opinion they are doing this a division 3 test they are basically using yall to see how to structure a div 3 would the diablo formula work or not and also i think heartlands was cancelled to a extent i think what they worked on will be infused into div 3 and continued

It sounds like the devs are having issues balancing the game when a new season drop with existing agents. If they add this system from Diablo 4 where each season you have to start over then it’s easier to code for. Most people have god rolled everything and can melt through content with ease. This will slow the progress down. If this is the “New Way” it’s going to push I wouldn’t be surprised if the count goes down some. This may be a test for how they plan to use for D3 as well…..

Makes sense to me kinda, it's separate from the game. Raids, incursions, pvp etc so they will be able to deliver on the power fantasy making us "stronger than ever" and it won't effect the base game too much.

Well it'll happen want it or not. It doesn't make sense for us because we grinding this game, executives and devs don't. I mean they don't play this game like we do. So they don't care, because there's no understanding. They give bs whatever they want it, because people will still play and spend money on it. RU-vidrs do big part on this too, ones stand on excitement and bs side and the others stand for us.

Seasonal characters make a lot of sense if you look at it right. They are testing the waters to see if there is interest in Division games among those who have never played the game before. In some respects the future of The Division 3 depends on the success of seasonal characters and their ability to bring in new players.

Developers are incapable of adding new content without breaking the game so instead they force everyone to reset their progress, slap a fresh coat of paint onto the already existing content to make it appear to be something new and have is play that again...Problem Solved!!!!

you never played diablo 3 i take it ?? it's to keep you playing but also some players like to start over from the beginning and see how they would play differently, go a different way & so on , if thats your thing or not is of course up to you .

The point is to keep you around without giving you actual new content. Everything they’ve done has been busywork and this is the exact same thing.

I just wish they made more meaningful content we just kept getting farming modes, it would’ve been dope to have like a mini battle royal mode for div 2 like wouldn’t that be cool four teams a large part of the map like how cool would that be. I would not have bought this game if I knew they were going to abandon pvp content. I had such higher hopes for this game than div 1 because div 1 the content they brought was top tier

Your main character has been part of the story all these years. Now the main character is not allowed to play the story. It’s like when a main character in a movie is replaced with a new actor.

New Content is what it has always been about. Even old content like Lost Signal from D1 would be a valid option. Why not cut and paste over D1 content to D2?

Tbh I don't like this ideal starting over every season from 1 to 40 just to get rewards and I agree that I don't want 2.0 it seems like Diablo and season characters are so whack to always make a new character just to get rewards every season

The whole article was just a bunch of buzzwords without any thought about what any of it actually means, they are acting like they are going to release some insane missions but we all know it’s just going to be “run to that point shoot enemies and then repeat that for a few more encounters and then you are done” the devs aren’t skilled, talented and interested enough in making fun and engaging content so they just pretend they are by resetting everything and hiding behind words

It makes sense in a world where the developers want it to take you a hell of a lot longer to complete content they put it out In other words it takes them X days to make new content, it takes us a week to blow through it. Making you start out at 0 everytime will make you grind to level 40 to access your gear that you have for your regular character. That’s the only reason.

I completely agree with you! This makes absolutely no sense at all! All the excuses and false reasons they keep giving us about this is downright disrespectful to us all and especially the veterans! At this point there are far more pressing matters in this game than this crap. We, as a community, deserve better! Closing in on 15,000 shade levels and putting in over 9,200 hours I can say that this is severely disappointing. It is clear they do not listen to us! Trying to bring in new players to an increasingly broken game yet not giving a shit about the ones that have been here since day one. If it wasn’t for us this game would not be where it is!

All they have to do is just make it as an option 😂this can’t happen the whole community will just stay on there main characters.

They (massive) don't know how to make endgame content for maxed out characters. End of story. :(
