Hope you enjoy this video of the doctor mentioning rose. I saw someone else do this and decided to make it with a more HD picture and with some extra scene!!!!!!! ALL RIGHTS : DOCTOR WHO
For a practically immortal timelord who has seen the universe begin and end and everything inbetween David Tennant gave this guy the humanity of a broken soul
So beautiful. Most of the sadness and greatness of the romance happened after she was lost. Tennant missing his Rose made it the beautiful thing it is Although..... I would have liked it if in that scene he said "Her name IS* Rose" instead of "Her name WAS* Rose" Would have been a sad moment of him not losing hope of seeing her again, and also the hopelessness of realisation that he will never see her again
@@1GuyWith6Guns you can see his happiness because he is talking of rose but you can hear and see the pain at the same time because he remembers he cant see her anymore
@@McInHeather Yeah, but at the TorchWood episode David tennant had to say goodbye, and gave her a version of him as a human, so she could keep him, but like a human version.
McInHeather She kind of got to keep a mix of the two. The meta-crisis doctor didn’t have the tenth Doctors memories, so he was in some ways closer to nine than ten.
,,, the scene where donna mentions bad wolf had me bawling. He's so desperate, clinging onto a single spark of hope that she found a way back. I can't with this show, it still gets me even after having been a fan of the show for 8 years
@@DoctorWhoKage it's because R.T.D. era was ending and everyone was mentioned to that...that's why in the end Doctor "say goodbye" to every his friend, it's like saying goodbye to all, that create R.T.D.
Yea, also the bad wolf thing always confused me, can u explain it to me plz? Why does “bad wolf” link with rose, which episode did it come from? And why “bad wolf”
"I'm sure it's bad, I get that. But, Rose is coming back. Isn't that good?" Donna Noble, the Doctor's best friend, knowing how to cheer him up when all seems horrible.
@@DeltaDubs89 exactly. She will always be iconic for me because she was never romantically into the doctor. She really just wanted to be his friend, genuinely and she helped him so much emotionally.
That "her name was Rose" scene is so perfect. You can see the wave of grief hit his face when Donna asking about her catches him of guard. He can barely muster a smile after saying her name. Truly a masterclass in subtle facial acting.
I just love that in the Family of Blood Episodes even though the Doctor lost his memory of being a time lord he still dreamt about Rose and remembered her by name. if i recall he didn't even remember the name of the TARDIS. That just speaks to how much he loved her.
Idc how great all the new companions are, Rose will always be my favorite. Simply because she was so normal. She was a normal average person who became something greater because of her humanity.
I have to say Donna was my favourite companion. No romantic feelings for the Doctor, just a wholesome friendship that Ten cherished. She was excited for him to reunite with Rose, something a best friend would do. I was absolutely devastated when her memories had to be wiped for her own safety.
"The north wind blows and carries down the distant Rose" "Oh no that's where you've made a mistake because that name keeps me fighting" ❤❤❤ She won't be forgotten, Doctor. Ever.
she certainly wasn’t forgotten up to s4, but aside from the 50th anniversaries special shes not brought up all that i can remember. S4 wrapped everything up beautifully, but nothing carried over to the moffat era aside from what he himself wrote (and im still salty abt that. give me good ol tenrose / Doctor donna content any day)
I wish I could agree, but the 11th Doctor forgot all about her. Im pretty sure in The Day Of The Doctor there was a part where 10 got really angry at 11 because he didn't recognise her name at all :"(
@@justaplasticcupaaaaaa1350 well, she was brought up in "Let's kill Hitler", when the 11th was dying, and he felt guilty about Rose. Maybe he just want to forget them all mindfully and move on
When Donna said Bad Wolf it makes me so sad he got so excited. I like to think after Journeys End Rose stayed with the Doctor, travelling forever. I know this isn't what really happened, but a girl can dream
there is a deleted scene in journeys end where donna gives rose and meta-crisis doctor a piece of tardis coral so they can grow their own, even though this is a deleted scene it is still considered cannon
Have... Have you not seen it? Amy to the doctor - "I've been thinking about what I want... who I want..." The doctor to Rory - "we need to talk about your fiance. She tried to kiss me!" / "I kissed her mouth." Granted she was sexually frustrated but it's still relevant.
"-She's gone. -Gone where ? - I lost her. - Then hurry up and lose ME! " If you think about it, so sad this exact scene actually happen in Journey's End.
@Ike Ike In the episode "Journey's End", Tenth says goodbye for good to Rose on the beach, and then about 20s later he has to do the same with his friend when she draws his attention
I love Donna so much! She didn't mind the Doctor's obsession with Rose and tried to cheer him up that Rose was coming back, not jealous like Martha. :)
Well Donna didn’t have feelings for him, I feel Martha is unappreciated and people find her annoying bc she likes the Doctor and he doesn’t like her back
I understand why people might not like how jealous Martha was, but looking at it from her perspective, she met a gorgeous ageless man who kissed her the first time they met and then invited her to travel through time and space with him. It's totally understandable that she ended up falling in love, and that it was difficult for her to be as understanding when the Doctor kept bringing up Rose and being completely oblivious to Martha's feelings. Donna was never attracted to the Doctor and vice versa, so it just wasn't an issue. He even said, "I just want a mate" when they first met, so the expectations for the relationship were very clear.
this series portrays loss in a way i've not seen many other series do - subtle reminders of their existence, so many series forget a character existed or have only one or two reminders - but doctor who did not forget rose EDIT: blimey, i only posted this a day ago and it says i have 28 thumbs up, what the heck? :)
@@liamwalton4183 Warch the pain in Graham eyes. Feel more natural and subtle that Tennant constant crybaby moments that feel so out of character for a Time Lord.
This is why I liked Donna more than Martha, Donna found out about Rose and accepted that an alien with an inhumanly long lifespan would have other people he cared about. Martha on the other hand saw rose as a challenge and got super jealous.
But Martha still had a plausible reaction, her time was still quite enjoyable she just didn’t fully understand the two hearted elongated life span genius from an alien planet who looks after earth so fair enough on Martha
@@MagnetMagicGirl See, that's fair enough, but the Doctor wouldn't stop talking about Rose. Martha: Doctor, I've cured Space Cancer! Doctor: Rose would be so happy about that... :'(
@@jandiqar ofc he couldn't he missed her, he was grieving. he's allowed to. imagine losing your closest friend and when you move on and try to talk about her to your new friend she just says "get over it and love me instead???" "oh here we go again with your dead friend" and basically not caring that you might be grieving just wanting all your undecided attention. God Martha had SUCH POTENTIAL and they had to make her main personality trait jealousy
Martha was such a good character, that had so much potential. She was smart, determined, resourceful, independent, not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for herself, but all of that was pretty much swept under the rug because the writers somehow decided to make her one-sided crush for the Doctor her entire personality. Now all that she’s remembered for is how she always had a chip on her shoulder over the fact that she was living in the shadow of someone she knew she’ll never be - despite the fact that she literally helped save the world and the Doctor’s life a few times. Martha and her actress deserved better.
@@lesley1204 Of course, Martha also had the horrid luck to fall in love with a man who had _just lost the love of his life_ and hadn't had time to get over her. The Doctor was comically oblivious to how she started feeling about him, and a lot of that IS because he was still mourning Rose. How he treated her wasn't really fair... but neither was getting upset with him over it and acting jealous when he's still obviously in mourning and honestly had no idea how she really felt. The Doctor always tends to have a special talent for missing the blatantly obvious. I do think the Doctor was dwelling on her _too_ much though, and Martha eventually making her stance clear when she left helped him realize it, giving him the push he needed to start making a real effort to get over her; which Donna ended up helping with, due to being supportive about it, instead of getting snippy every time the topic of Rose came up.
My take on why Rose is so important to the Doctor is because: She healed his wounds from the Time War, with friendship and love. She was the first human that breathed vigor and life into the TARDIS again. Without her, Doctor would still be hurt and traumatized by the War. That's why she's important. It's not because she is someTwilight-ish love story or anything for the Doctor. She's so much more than that.
Not everyone likes Rose. Can't say I do. But there's no way to deny what she meant to the Doctor. You can spin his feelings one way or another in fan theories, but you just can't deny it.
It's more Tennants acting so well being in love with her and lost her. The best "Rose moments" happened after her being gone. As this video shows. So like it wasnt a great romance for the sake of romance, but the "better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all" mixed with "I'd do anything to get her back, I can save or destroy planets if I wanted, but am powerless to do anything to get her back" performance Tennant gives, it's beautiful. Like he's lost all hope but also filled with joy that he met her and knowing she's still alive somewhere
You could tell how much he loved Rose. You could see the pain in his eyes whenever he remembers her or talks about her. Like the only time we actually saw him cry was when he had to leave her for good. He probably missed her every single day since then.
@@Phoenix-ro6wh the term Bad Wolf signifies the end of the universe. That by itself is pretty big but it also reminds him of Rose because (sorry if I'm about to spoil something you don't have to continue reading) she's Bad Wolf.
Donna shipping the Doctor and Rose is a beautiful thing! I do think, once the two girls met and got used to each other because as jealous as Martha was of Rose, Rose too would have felt insecure upon meeting Martha, I do think they would have become friends and it would have been like when Sarah Jane and Rose met and after a couple of hours they started talking and then laughing over things the Doctor did.
It`s been 14 years ago and still brings pain. And i love how fandom is still talking about Ten and Rose. Fandom will never forget them. UPD: and don`t forget 9!
Now I have to rewatch... and I’m halfway through twelve.... I promise I will rewatch all of 9 and 10 after I’ve finished 12. I love this show so much, damn
I got literal chills on turn left when that iconic 10 music plays and Donna says bad wolf god I loved that when I first saw that. Also who else really really wants to see jack in doctor who again just for one episode
@@jamesjackson4741 The episode when River Song regenerated from Mel...oh yeah Let's Kill Hitler! He's dying from poison and he tells his TARDIS to show him something that brings regret from himself. The TARDIS then shows a hologram of Rose. In a later episode (don't remember which) Matt Smith says: "I can help Rose Tyler with her homework-" before blurting on about something completely different.
I think that Rose was probably the best damn companion ever. I stopped watching the show after Clara was introduced mostly bc there wasn't that spark that Rose and the Tenth doctor gave to the show. That's just my opinion though...
Yeah but the 12th doctor and Clara had a pretty interesting relationship. Not exactly romantic, but something like soulmates. It's hard to define. It's kind of like what Missy described, but with way less history. I'm starting to think that the Doctor's relationships are always going to be way beyond romance simply because he's a timelord.
But what about the Ponds? Honestly, I’m still mourning those two, lol. Still nothing like Ten and Rose, but Amy and Rory and Eleven were fantastic together ❤️
I’ve really come to appreciate Rose in these past few years, I always thought she was annoying with the 9th so it bled over into her run with the 10th. ...but the way Davíd Tennant’s eyes look the second she is brought up breaks me into little pieces. So much heartache and pain. Also, this video reminds me how much I dislike Martha as a companion. She was so desperately annoying and jealous. Donna was literally the perfect companion so I’m glad she came into the show quickly.
I thought it was just me who thought Martha was obnoxiously jealous! They could be in a life threatening situation and Martha could somehow just make a jab at Rose and she’d never even met her!
Martha Jones: Caring friend. Donna Noble: Best "Mate". Amy Pond: Best friend. Clara Oswald: Trustful loving companion. Rose Tyler: The one person he truly ever loved. ... Oh, and there's River Song but nobody ever talks about her
1:57 his voice here will never fail to break my heart, every goddman time i hear him my heart shatters into pieces. at this point this is not acting for me. he's the doctor and he lost the woman he was in love with.
I just believe that Rose was that special person for Doctor's heart, someone who can never be forgotten and meant so much... His friend, his saviour, his family, his home, a person who will always hold his hand
The Doctor is really terrible at explaining any previous emotional experiences he had, if the audience picked up the show after season 2 without knowing what happened to Rose, it'd be another mystery like the Doctor's childhood, life on Galliery etc.
But that makes sense, when people lose a loved one they're not gonna go around telling everyone everything about them, it takes time. A lot of time. We, the audience know what happened but to anyone after I think giving too detailed sn explanation would have been too much for him for a long time
@@flavoredchin It works because Donna is initially meant to be the complete opposite of Rose - small-minded, self-centred, unimpressed by The Doctor and uninterested in seeing the wonder of it all.
They are. Well, Rose has a human version of the Doctor at least and considering that they both love each other that much, I bet that they got married. Also that Doctor won't regenerate so it's actually better
