YES! thank you... I hate fuckin misleading titles as well... Her hair would die and fall off if she actually didnt wash it for 5 years... i can guarantee it. Hair is part of our body its not there just cause... x D in best case scenario it would look like a fuckin pudding...
Im sorry but these extreme naturalist are to much YOU ALL DO REALIZE THERE ARE FANTASTIC NATRUAL CLEANSERS AND CONDITIONERS FOR THE SKIN AND HAIR LOL WOW I JUST CAN'T DEAL WITH SINCE THERE ARE GREAT NATRUAL ALTERNATIVES
marykacyy yes there absolutely are more natural products to switch out in our daily process, whether it be makeup, shampoo, cleansers, clothing. But unfortunately due to the lack of in depth knowledge and findings on how chemicals truly affect us. Going the more "natural" route is more expensive then just using water and baking sofa. Or using vinegar and water as a home cleanser. These may seem drastic to many but when you really look into the affects of the chemicals we are in contact with daily and the cost of being more environmentally friendly when purchasing healthier options it may be overly costly for a family of 5+ when using more simple everyday products work almost as effectively and are a lot more cost efficient for many households.
Stephanie _ I used to think so myself that I cant afford something safe and get my family of 5 through the month. I found some products on amazon and did more research on sites like ewg.org. I found a soap thats non toxic cheap and can be used for handsoap to cleaning floors. The best part is my sons bloody noses (I thought was from allergies due season) stopped completely. There are cheaper and safer products out there that work well but it does take time to research.
Surrey Bohemian I got a scalp analysis at Aveda 4 years ago. I saw mine and my friends scalp. I had flakes not dandruff because I wasn’t conditioning my scalp. It was a little irritated. You might be able to find a scalp analysis on RU-vid. Type in scalp analysis or hair detox.
It's what we eat and how we live that makes our bodies have smells. If we eat mostly natural healthy foods and drink lots of water, we shouldn't smell bad at all.
At the end they said thank you for being so brave LOL they're treating Her Like She's Some nasty freak of nature that had the courage to show her face on TV.
The male dr clearly stated in the opening that she hadn't washed her hair with SHAMPOO for 5 years but the rest of the hosts reacted like she did not wash her hair AT ALL for that long! 😑😐😒
Yvonne Hullo Baking soda acts like soap. Try washing your hair with it and you'll see. The reason I don't use baking soda anymore is because it upsets the ph of your scalp and is very hard to rinse out completely which can cause dandruff and itching. Also, baking soda is very abrasive to your hair shaft. There are other ways to clean your hair without chemicals that are better for your scalp health.
You are so right! I have some products and I can't get enough of how amazing it smells. Everywhere I go people are like "omg you smell heavenly!" Pretty awesome lol
Tropical Coils You can mix it with baking soda and make a runny paste to rub in your hair to cleanse or use it diluted with water as a rinse after using your own cleansing product. And I'm talking about the amber medicinal Listerine not the minty fresh one. Unless that's your preference...
Linda Carrillo it doesn't stay strong smelling when you rinse it out =) I do use acv for a lot of other things too =) I do find the want to use shampoo again, so I do and I pay the price of migraines.
+TheMarker2015 L.S. She still has blonde hair. The vast majority of blondes over the age of 14 bleach their hair. Does that make them not blonde to you?
@@drowization... smelt is the past tense of smell in the English language. The American version is smelled. The person who said smelt was speaking the Queen's English. I bet she is either from the Caribbean or England
at least the doctor who was looking at her hair with the microscope and the guy said it smelled natural!! that must of been really embarrassing when she said it smelled bad.
I Really Thought She Didn't Wash Her Hair At All And That We Were Gonna See This Lady With Nasty Dirty Smelly Hair She Just Doesn't Use Shampoo Anymore Click bait Is Really Annoying!!!!
Agreed, but how did it nor occur to her that people would sniff? It’s the larger part of why people shampoo as much as they do. My happy medium is very dilute shampoo, alternating days, one deep clean a month. Fairly natural formulas.
They did.. I could tell she was upset a little.. The lady just walked over there and smelled her hair.. She was being cut off everytime she spoke.. I didn't like the whole situation..i would of been aggravated
I don't think so, we as an audience certainly want to know what it smells like, that's one of the main concerns people don't want to wash their hair without shampoo. She obviously expected people were going to smell her hair *it's the topic* and she accepted.
Aeolin Ice - As an audience you shouldn't take other peoples word for it. If you want to know what it smells like then smell it in person when appropriate. That lady didn't have to smell it in the middle of the show. It's funny to me how you said the audience wants to know how it smells like and letting another human smell it will make them smell it too. Everyone is different and those kinds of things are subjective.
+SB Real, Idk, I think it was good to have at least someone smell her hair and have an opinion. (We got two opinions about it.) It's not really needing to know exactly how her hair smells to us specifically, but having at least one opinion gives you the general idea of how it probably comes across. If I was the girl with that hair, I wouldn't have minded it and probably would've expected that someone would probably want to smell my hair on camera and share their opinion of it. The topic was about the condition of her scalp and how clean her hair was, people are going to be curious, it helps to know how her hair probably smells like to people that's not part of her family or friend network.
WOW people really are out of touch She said I do not use shampoo. The panel and the doctor thought she did not wash it with water. man Is this a lame show.
I am sure the doctors knew; but remember it is a show and they already have all the information before coming in front of audience. All about the ratings.
Vedder Palmer At least Dr. Stork is. He was an ER Doctor in Nashville, Tennessee over ten years ago when he was picked to star as "The Bachelor". That most likely lead to him being a part of this show.
icecoldjustice1991 Its not disgusting. Its natural. If you want to use man made chemicals then fine... but people who want to lower the risk of all these diseases floating around are not disgusting.
Where I live it is quite common not to use Shampoo and just use water or other no-poo alternatives. It doesn't smell like it "hasn't been washed" but more like nothing at all. Like smelling on a piece of skin on e.g. your arm. It also depends on the food you're consuming.
eww. ok. I stopped washing my hair with conventional shampoo for six months because I had SOOOO much hair fall I was afraid of going bald!! three months in to my no poo method of baking soda water and apple cider vinegar hair rinses, my hair was doing AMAZING, it was full and thick... then I decided I should at least finish off all the shampoo I do have and washed my hair with regular shampoo...all my hair started falling out. after washing my hair with baking soda and having very little hair fall out, I washed my hair and had gobs of hair in my hands. i stopped using shampoos from Wal-Mart, Walgreens, even the high-end beauty salons. now I only use Calia Natural shampoos and my hair LOVES IT. And I love my hair
An Elephant As far as actual cleanliness, not really. The dermatologist in the video who looked at her scalp under the microscope proved this. If you look at the labels carefully, even conditioners have a lot of the same detergent ingredients that make your hair 'clean', hence the rapidly growing market of conditioning cleansers like Wen that acheive the same cleanliness without the harmful sulfates that strip our hair of the natural protective oils, thus drying it out and making your body's oil production overcompensate.
An Elephant Everyone's hair is different, dear. Don't speak for me or anyone else for that matter. Sure, maybe YOU can personally see a difference in your hair, but I'm sure yours is the only head you wash. And, if you 'dont't care' so much, maybe try not being so contrary like you know everything about the topic. M'Kay? :) Muting your responses now, because I'm absolutely sure any rebuttal you could possibly offer will sound foolish.
For her, shampoo makes her hair frizzy and contain dandruff. So, yes, you did lose brain cells watching this, because you forgot nobody's hair is the same.
+Ariella Damsie That was exactly my point. Did you not read ANY of my previous comments in this thread before showing your lack of comprehension skills?
That black lady is RUDE!!!! >:-[ Also- I HATE that they made it sound like this woman hadn't WASHED her hair in 5 years. No. She hasn't used SHAMPOO in 5 years. She *has* washed her hair- with vinegar & baking soda (and now just baking soda). I hate how TV shows make things overly dramatic just for views. -_-
I thought the same thing. The black lady is very rude and I immediately could tell she just hadn't used shampoo not that she hadn't washed her hair. I haven't used shampoo either in over 5 years.
Back in the 1950, at least in Ireland, maybe not America, people used to wash their hair only every once in a while. You would buy shampoo in a sachet from the chemist every now an then. Bottles of shampoo didn't exist.
Agatha Christie implied that the British had smelly hair back in the 1950s. She put a Spanish character in one of her novels (Poirot's Christmas, if I remember correctly) and had her thinking that the British have smelly hair.
shampoo wasn't invented, in this nowadays form, till like the late 1800's to the early 1900's. so really it's only been going on for like 150 years or so.
Eccentric Dreams Yes, I’m sure that’s what she meant. Like not putting harmful, polluting substances on your body. I mean, lye and coconut oil are both natural chemicals. But you wouldn’t want to put lye on your skin!😬
I've stopped using shampoo 6 months ago & just rinse really well & use conditioner. my hair has lost all frizz, it's thicker, stronger, bouncier, & shinier. it's awesome
Thank you. I might give it a try. I am psychologicly attached to my shampoo. Lol! :) If I don't wash with shampoo I don't feel clean. Have you noticed a big difference with your hair?
Mae Michelle I’ve gone almost two moths without shampooing and only used cleansing conditioner on my hair to clean my hair and it really does look a lot better
I didn't wash my hair with shampoo for 40 years. With shampoo my hair went back and forward between dry and greasy. I don't use a hair dryer either. I just use Marseille soap to wash my hair, no chemicals and no perfume. I started to use medical soap as well for my body, because I started to get inflamed pimples all over my body. Very often they bacame seriously infected with puss. Cosmetic products destroy the natural chemical balance of your skin, and may harm your health.
Have you tried using warm-hot (not boiling hot, just on the hotter side of warm) water to water-wash your hair and slide the oil down to condition your hair? There was a point when my hair started getting really oily and I had to wash it more frequently. I did this and my hair was fine so I went back to water washing/co-washing/mud washing once a week (or water washing more frequently, if needed) and shampoo washing once a month. Oh! And the mud wash is good for minimising oiliness. If you're in the States, look for the lavender Terressentials mud wash (if you're in the UK, like I am, don't bother unless you're willing to pay a lot in duty/import charges). A cheaper option is to buy bentonite, rhassoul or amla powder, mix it with a bit of water to form a light paste/mud (and add essential oils if you want a scent/a bit of conditioner) and work that into your hair then leave it on for like 5mins (no need to cover your hair) before rinsing it out. This leaves my hair shiny and soft (and my curls look amazing), but not oily.
I just use organically derived Castille soap for my hair, face, and body, then use a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse, following up with coconut oil as a lotion, deodorant, and conditioner.
Her hair is perfection! The No Poo is the best! It takes a good 3 months before your hair balances out and it just looks like this girls, perfect. Water ONLY!
There are natural blond, red, and light brown headed blacks but the black doctor on the show's hair is definitely dyed, permed and she possible has a hair bun wig/weave or something. She didn't have to smell that woman's hair. I couldn't believe she did that. Did anyone notice the other panel of doctors faces when she did that? She could of also said, "It smells natural" which I'm sure it did. The woman does have a cleansing regular routine it just doesn't include commercial chemicals that the panel of doctors are to promote and sell. That was so uncouth and shows no class!
deadcupcake02 black people can have naturally blonde hair and blue eyes and there are many in Africa. The internet is open for your use and you use it to be ignorant. Go to bed
I wanted to see the scalp of the chemical users as well. BTW too many women I see are going BALD from going to the hairdressers and having all the dyes and blow drys. Bit freaky really!!!!
I started losing hair from over washing and styling. It was scary. My hair was so try it would literally just break off. I was my hair every week and a half with deep conditioner. I air dry and use my straightener once it's dry just that once. No hair spray nothing. I do have my hair bleached at the hair dresser but only 2x a year. My hair has gotten Soo much better because of it
Shampoo strips your hair of everything. I had been using shampoo my whole life and my hair over produced oils because of it. I have stopped using shampoo and my hair is no longer oily. Also my scalp becomes extremely itchy with shampoo. Now my scalp is only itchy if it is so hot it sweats. These problems occurred with many types of shampoo and with different washing regimes. I agree the use of the word chemicals is silly but for me the stoppage of the use of shampoo, letting my scalp do the work it was designed to, was the only way I got any relief from my hair problems. Added bonus; if you dye your hair the colour stays fresher longer because there isnt shampoo trying to strip your hair of that also.
No, it wouldn't, if you read it a bit closer you will see my point wasn't to be chemical free. Shampoo effects the pH balance of my scalp> causing all these symptoms> it wasn't until I stopped using shampoo that I got relief from those symptoms. The dying of the hair thing was just a bonus if one were to dye their hair> I'll admit I havent in a while> but to reset the scalps ph balance after dying hair [if needed] wouldnt be a big deal> just wait a day or two. But to be "chemical free"> Don't have the money for that to be on my radar :P
You need to find your own mixture amount of baking soda [1-2Tbl sp to 1/4 cup] with water [I used an old soda bottle- not filled usually, depends on how coarse I want the mixture- for somewhat regular use I would use a lighter mixture, closer to the 1-2 tblspoon size] and [separately only like once a week, vinegar to water 1/4 cup to a separate soda bottle, ghetto I know.] Rinse well..
Because of being really sick from colon cancer and Crohn's disease (which included having an ileostomy bag 4 separate times) I wasn't able to shower often, as I wasn't allowed to get my wounds or dressings wet, and I was so grossed out by it. BUT, after a few years of showering only once or twice a week (I did use deodorant and wash what I was able to every day, using only water on my scalp as I've lost most of my hair), I noticed that I didn't stink, and all my blemishes vanished on their own. It was really weird, and now that I can sower daily, I've also stopped using products with a ton a chemicals, preferring only very basic things like baking soda. I have no issues at all, with BO, and my skin is actually in better shape then it was when I used all those products on the market, so I think there is some real benefit to what is said in this clip. I know you're probably all cringing, but honestly, the human body is a remarkable thing, and is able, with just basic hygiene, to get along just fine without all the soaps and shampoos on the market.
Jess J what country, this is the Internet lol. sorry if that came across rude to you because I agreed with you and you made a good point, racism is real.
Everything is made up of chemicals... baking soda is made from chemicals, water is chemical H2O... but anyway I use to over wash my hair and I would always have dead ends if I tried growing out my hair so now I only shampoo once every 10 days or so and my hair has been growing better since doing so. Also taking biotin is great for your hair and nails, also make Prenadal for women is good to use for fair and nails because of the folic acid. Wish I had known earlier in life.
My grandmother was 3/4 Cherokee Indian she never used shampoo for her hair. Never cut it. It was down to her feet but not really think as she got older kept it in a bun. Never used a hairbrush used her fingers or a very thin tiny comb. She had all kinds of barrels around that house that caught the rain. She used only that to wash her hair in. She had beautiful clean hair. Loved watching her comb it at night. And she never ever shaved her leg or armpits never had to! I took after other side of family shave often! RIP in Grandma Bingham
CutestHeidi me too, a bit more frequently in the summer though. There's no need to constantly wash your hair and it's really good for it to let your scalp get oily
First time watching. I decided to go natural and i did a big chop over a year ago. I stopped using shampoo then. I also started making my own hair products so i know everything that is going into my hair.
"It didn't exist 500 years ago" What about soap, body jel, face wash, deodorant, toothpaste and many more. There is a reason why we use them now, that's not a good enough reason.
Because my hair is naturally dry I decided to try this trend of shampooing less. I would only wash my hair once a week, and with a sulfate-free Shampoo (L'oréal) . I did this for a couple years. At first my hair looked awesome! It was smoother, and was easier to straighten, and shiny. I had Kate Middleton hair! But after a couple years of beautiful hair, my hair started falling out, to the point where I was scared to brush it (so I rarely did) I then read that not washing your hair at least every couple days (for people with fine hair like mine) can cause the pores in the scalp to clog up, make the hair dull and weak and break easily (which causes hair loss). So I started shampooing more often, forced myself to brush more often, and switched shampoos to a Shampoo with sulfate( I no longer trust sulfate-free shampoos). My hair is growing out thicker and faster now. So choose what's best for YOUR hair! Don't give in to trends.
That's complete bullshit... there's no fucking way your hair loss was linked in any way, shape, or form to the fact that you only washed it once a week. Or obviously the girl in this video would be fucking bald. And clogged pores on your scalp could have been easily remedied by rinsing it with a cup or two of all natural apple cider vinegar (and then water) once a week (it also makes your hair super shiny and prevents/gets rid of dandruff). And its certainly not a 'trend' to the thousands or millions of people who realize hundreds of years ago people got by just fine without slathering themselves with cancer-causing chemicals every single day and would rather not be a human guinea pig to the literally HUNDREDS of new chemicals that are introduced to the global market every single day with literally not one iota of saftey testing...do some research.
I have thick full hair and haven't used shampoo in a very long time. Both my and my other half have long hair and we have no problem with hair loss. We only use warm water not even vinegar, baking soda or any other product.
Kay2be2mr i agree with u. i have thin fine hair too. i workout n get sweaty. n the sweat clogs out the pores tremendously resulting in huge chunks of hair fall out if i dont shampoo. i donno if rinsin with just cold water will do it. something i will try .
Are you sure that it wasn't something else causing the hair loss? In my case I had a severe vitmain d deficiency that was causing my hair to come out in clumps. Once I started taking a multivitamin and vitamin d it stopped and my hair has been doing great, even with me not using shampoo/conditioner anymore and just using acv rinse.
If you want it to smell a bit nicer then just spray a bit of perfume in it. That's also a great way of making the perfume scent stay long. It seems like this is a bit like people not being able to eat vegetables without putting sugar on it because they're used to things tasting sweet. Basically people get used to things smelling like a perfume shop (imagine all the things with smells we put on.. perfume, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion etc all smell different and you wear all of it at the same time) insted of natural wich does not have to smell bad at all.
My hair has always been so greasy all growing up, to the point where I had to wash my hair twice a day. 6 months ago I stopped using shampoo and I now use an all natural cleansing conditioner and my hair is amazing. I only have to wash it 2-3 times a week and I can go about a week before I get too greasy for my taste. My hair has body, it's super shiny, and the oils I use make it smell amazing. Shampoo is SO bad for your hair.
Gosh, she could make her own shampoo and conditioner that's all natural. I make all my own soap and beauty products for a few years. The one main chemical I ever use is lye when making homemade luxury soaps and shampoo, which the lye dissipates within 48 hours of mixing in with the oils and Shea butter. I make a full Himalayan salt bar as well. One of my favorites is a coffee emulsified scrub made with Castile soap, jojoba oil and beeswax. I'm allergic to many man made products, so I make my own and love it. Baking soda is not enough to wash hair in my opinion. I like clean hair.
We did not have "dermatologists" 500 years ago either. I had to STOP going to yoga class because everyone had so many chemicals on them from toxic perfumes, colognes, hair products, laundry soap. When people started to get sweaty ... I could not do deep breathing particularly when someone was wearing perfume or cologne. very toxic.
When my hair grew back after my year of chemo, it seemed to have no oil. None. I rinse my hair in water about every 3rd day but very rarely shampoo. And no one can tell. I purchased some moroccan oil and even after applying it to my hair, it seems to have no oil. It is so dry it sucks it up like water. Everyone is different and for this to be a big deal is typical of social media. Making a mountain out of a mole hill.
The movement is called "No poo" (no shampoo) look for it on youtube. I don't use shampoo on my hair. I use vinegar and mouthwash in a spray bottle. My hair is doing great, it's soft and curly and the natural oils moisturize the hair. After washing my hair smells a bit like wet wool, once dried the smell disappears. I used to put so much product to moisturize my hair after shampooing 'cause it would be so dry. The funny thing is, now my hair looks like I put a bunch of products to achieve this silken look.
More like only 70+ years ago thru didn't have shampoo. my grandma tells me all the time back in the 30's and 40's they used vinegar and even rinsed with beer at times. Have you seen how gorgeous those women were in the 40's? Shampoo strips your scalp of it's natural oils. The 1st week you stop washing your hair as often it will be greasy, but that is only because your scalp has had to make extra oils to replace what you keep stripping away with chemicals you don't need. after the 1st week your scalp won't secrete as much oils and it will go back to normal. Coconut oil, vinegar work wonders on your hair.
Crackpots, yeah no one had shampoo 500 years ago and they smelled nasty and died young. Not saying shampoo equals longevity but it's part of modern science that does.
What about addin a bit of tea tree & coconut oil after the bakin soda rinse? I use a mix of TT & CCNT oil as a face moisturizer & I hardly ever break out😍
In the last year I have only washed my hair a little over 140 times or less then that. I use ginger shampoo and coconut conditioner once or twice a week. As a teen I had really bad acne and it was from my bad diet and I also washed my hair every night. I no longer have bad acne and my hair grows really fast because I have healthy vegan hair as my family and friends say. In the summer some times I will put my hair in braids that are kinda like dreads and leave that for weeks. Plus I love having the salt water wash my hair when I go swimming.
***** no i have never taken a fuckin chemistry class but thx for the 101. Ever taken a fuckin social media anger management class? Relax troll its not that deep lol
***** ur an ass if ur really taking this video to heart. The only idiot here is you. We are all big boys and girls, we can believe what we want. The method works for me and i love it. If its not for u then dont do it that simple. Theres bigger world issues with idiots to worry about than some freakin shampoo
Now that I think about it I went the last 3 years or so myself without shampoo. It's not that big of a deal amongst Afro textures. I decided to cowash only because shampoo was drying my hair out but recently I started using the Jamaican Black Castor Oil shampoo by Shea Moisture and my hair loves it so I'm back shampooing.
I used to have really oily hair and at one point heard about people who used only conditioner. Randomly decided to give it a go- I wet my hair as soon as I get in the shower and wring out excess water and then massage conditioner through out my hair (roots and all). I massage my scalp and then clip my hair up and continue with showering. Before I finish my shower I unclip my hair, massage through scalp again, comb through hair with a wide toothed comb and then rinse out. I can do this once a fortnight and hair is not oily, not dull, does not smell
There was a time in my life when I was physically unable to wash my hair for 3 months. However, that was because I was in a coma & on life-support for the first 5 weeks; the rest of the time was spent in the ICU while they waited for me to get better (as I was still on a feeding tube for a while & also had a trachea fitted until they were sure I could manage on my own). Washing my hair was the last thing on my family's or my mind, what with so much else going on. Also, the amount of general anaesthetic & other heavy medications the doctors used (to keep me in the coma) caused some of my hair to fall out in clumps; & it only got worse when my mum finally did wash my hair. It scared my younger relatives; as they knew I was very ill in hospital, but they weren't told why. When they saw some of my hair was gone, they thought I'd had chemo; so I had to explain to them what really happened. The hair I lost did grow back, but it's much shorter now & far more brittle than it used to be... ✨💆✨
There's a lot of things other than shampoo that you can use to clean your hair. My sister was on Survivor and they would use beach sand and salt water to get the grit and dirt out, sometimes they even used dirt/mud packs to help keep their hair clean.
nethadele I just so happen to have a different hair type than other people. I don't want to walk around with oily hair so I wash it every night. My older sister only has to wash her hair once or twice every two weeks because her hair type is different. So this method wouldn't work; it would just make me look and feel bad about my hair.
nethadele Even if your method "works on everyone", I'm not going to do it. I've worked really hard to become comfortable in my skin, so I'm not going to walk around with hair that I'm insecure with. And plus, even if I do end up doing this my hair will still smell terrible. The lady in the video said it smelled like it hadn't been washed, which will just make me feel even worse. I'm not going to sacrifice so much just for something that small. Sorry.
nunnya bidness depending on ones hair TYPE washing daily is NOT ok for THEIR hair. Going two days to a week is NOT bad. Id say your hair must be DRY as straw but ewww Im not IGNORANT like YOU ;-)
I use natural shampoos. I make my own for the same reasons as her. It’s still shampoo though, but its made with black african soap and essential oils. I also do something called a co-wash which is washing with conditioner and shampoo at the same time because shampoo strips your hair of natural oils and damages it slightly.
i stopped regular shampoo over a year ago. I do get a shampoo when ever I have a haircut. I do use cleansing conditioners, just to keep my hair from being overdry.
