Stories of animal cruelty make me incredibly sad and uncomfortable. People can be such monsters :(

I keep saying anyone who mistreats a dog in any way should endure precisely the same treatment. This makes me very very angry.

I totally agree with you! And those who abuse children should also endure the same treatment!

As a retired USAF medic we used to practice on live animals. They were all slated to be put down for one reason or another. First they were anesthitized, we performed our procedur(s), and then they were put down the rest of the way. The doctor made sure we were always respectful of the animals. They were never awakened. We learned a geat bit that cannot be learned on any model or corpse. Only thing that ever bothered me was when intubating a cat it started the gag reflex.

I just got it! It was so obscure. In the movie "Silence of the Lambs' Jodie Foster's character's last name was "Starling" now I understand the innuendo of the name about the surgeon Edward Starling. Maybe?

I was fully expecting to become a vet when I grew up. But once I got to my chosen college, I learned the vet school I would be going to practiced vivisection. I had already taken part in two vivisections (on turtles) just to earn my BS in Zoology. I was not going to do the same on dogs, or cats, or goats, or whatever else animal they were planning for us students to torture. Later, I worked with vets, just to make sure I was making the right decision. I had. Those vets used to get quite touchy whenever someone referred to them not being “real” doctors, even though they had to know numerous species instead of just humans that can tell you what’s wrong, even though vets went to just as much schooling. One difference with “real” doctors though, was “real” doctors relied on internships & residencies as their real life practice. They didn’t break the leg of their patient to practice medical techniques. They relied on real life emergency patients coming through the hospital doors, with experienced doctors supervising residents. There is absolutely no reason why a vet needs vivisection if “real” doctors don’t need it. Vets have internships & residencies too, which makes those unnecessary & gratuitous vivisections even more egregious

Where was this? Was this in the U.S.A.? If it was in the U.S. they actually still allow vivisection?
@dafttool
@dafttool 4 года назад
chris cardwell Yes. It was in Florida. And most of the vets I worked with were out of Colorado (who also had vivisection), although the equine hospital I used to work at got vets from all over the world (Germany, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Ireland, etc)

I wonder why they don't just have a clinic with students to test on already injured animals that the owners bring in... like with other professions.

You should warn that the content has a horrible story about animal torturing. I was not expecting this.

I sort of wished I had not watched this. Just listening to you describe what that poor animal went through was too much. I don't understand why, once they saw the dog was not properly anesthetized, they didn't stop then and there. How any veterinary doctor could do this upsets me since most people I know who go into vet medicine do so with the purpose of HELPING animals. Not the possibility of torturing them.

I saw a video recently that came out of middle Eastern or western European country where doctors and lawyers were seen rioting and fighting each other. Not the typical type of riot one would expect.

I had a hard time making it through this one. It's probably because I spent a great day off with my dogs, but that was just plain awful. I watch all the channels and I don't think I've ever had the urge to stop a video before, but I almost quit this one.

Has anyone smashed that new statue yet? I've vivisected pigs, goats, cats, dogs, pigeons, cattle, and many other things during my stint as a cardiology lab assistant, and the process was extremely interesting. None of the animals suffered, they were completely brain-dead before the first incision was even made, before the animal was even strapped down to the work bench. Just as you can't learn how a human body functions without dissecting actual human bodies, you can't learn how living things react to stimulus without experimenting on actual living things.

This is why the 8th Amendment needs repealed. If it's not cruel and unusual it's not punishment. But also with plenty of human experimental subjects (that are otherwise wasting taxpayer dollars by being kept in a cage) you would have little to no need for animal subjects.

uh, look up unit 731, read up on it and figure out why it's a bad idea. then follow up by checking out the rwandan genocide. frankly, i trust judges and lawyers even less than i do politicians based on the numerous cases of wrongful conviction. i would never want a guilty man subjected to what you suggest, let alone an innocent one.

Corporate prisons are plenty cruel and unusual. The question is how does that help society? We can’t prevent crimes that have already happened but maybe we can learn the causes and prevent future crimes. History has proven that cruel purpose doesn’t prevent crime if it did we wouldn’t have crime at all by now. The death penalty doesn’t prevent heinous crimes so what purpose does it serve. The idea of killing an innocent person as a society should horrify all of us since that blood is on our collective hands. And there are too many cases of innocent people being executed for me to be comfortable with. I don’t want anyone’s blood on my hands period. I often wonder how advanced our society is when I read posts like your’s.

@@eddyguizonde401 Well, if they are guilty I would. If they were "innocent" (seldom do 100% innocent people find themselves on death row or serving a life sentence, they are all guilty of something, even if it wasn't the exact crime they were convicted of) compensate the relatives and move on.
@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718

@@ginariffe5525 The purpose would be advancement of science and a source of organs for transplant (make them useful in death if not in life). If nothing else recidivism rates would be zero (can't repeat a crime when they are dead).
