black metal is Nazi garbage, completely defying the blues roots of metal. In fact most metal today is literally metallic noises with no soul inside, I thought Eric Clapton did damage to blues, but heck this is on a whole new level. Zero emotions, all just technique technique and equipment, absolute shame. Nvm. I digress.
Soy capricornio en mi horosporo dice que soy una serpiente NACI EN 1995 PARECE QUE EL DESTINO ME PONIERON A ESTA GRAN BANDA DESDE QUE TENIA 1 MES DE NACIDO YA SABRIA QUIENES ERAN THE DOORS
This song is one of the high water marks of their career, especially this live version. It's the creative culmination of what their original intentions were when they formed the band, marrying rock with theater and poetry. It's hypnotic, erotic, and totally original. In the right frame of mind it can spur your soul, making you want to dance around a fire in some sacred grove, or try something that would terrify your inner child.
Hypnotic, erotic and totally original also describes Jim Morrison...our Lizard King, our Shaman, who helped us to Break on Through.....took us on that Moonlight Drive to the Crystal Ship. I wish there was a musical time machine so we could go back and see The Doors in concert. I was only 9 when Jim died...a year later my dad passed. But over the years I came to truly appreciate their amazing music.
@@SkyNetGeneral- only the good die young ! Christians do pilgrimage to Jerusalem , Moslems go to Mecca …… I did a pilgrimage to Père La chaise cemetery ,Paris in 1997 to pay homage to Jim Morrison !
The lyric is an excerpt from “The Celebration of the Lizard”, a Jim Morrison poem that was going to take up the first side of “Waiting for the Sun” (1968). “Not to Touch the Earth” (1968) was the only part of the 24-minute song that was compelling enough to put on the album. The entire 133-line poem was included on the sleeve. Morrison lifted the title, and also the line “Not to see the sun,” from “Aftermath : A Supplement to the Golden Bough” (1936), an addition to the 1890 book “The Golden Bough : A Study in Magic and Religion.” Both works were authored by Sir James George Fraser (1854 - 1941), a Scottish social anthropologist. The words “Dead presidents corpse in the driver’s car” refer to the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy (November 22, 1963). One of Morrison’s famous lines appears at the end of the song : “I am the Lizard King, I can do anything.” “Lizard King” was one of his nicknames. 💙🦎💜 You have not been forgotten, James Douglas Morrison (1943 - 1971)… 🌹
Jim Morrison was the most interesting and intriguing person to ever stand behind a microphone. The band was very talented but he was mysterious and sensual and I love it forever never will be a human like him again.
Waiting for the Sun could have been their best album if the stupid record label suits had not forced them to release it before it was truly finished. Celebration of the Lizard was supposed to be all of side two (for those of you who still remember records lol).
Doors will transcend each new generation because they were the best. The Beatles will also because of their music after 66. Did a lot of acid listening to the Doors in 70 and 71. Mind blowing.
My 15 favorite deep cuts by The Doors songs not played on radio much IMO 15. Been Down So Long 14. Alabama Song (Whisky Bar) 13. Land Ho 12. Shaman's Blues 11. Peace Frog/Blue Sunday 10. The greatest poet this world has ever seen even though he battled with his demons his music Will Go On and on and on we love you Jim see you on the other side Derek
Melissa Alexandra Many of us burnt out to some degree but it was worth it. The energy in the air was intoxicating with something always happening. Really miss that time in history. Still waiting for the flashbacks. They lied. Start your own scene and if people dig it they will work to make it heppen. Old hippie in Austin.
Yep, the atmosphere during the Lizard King's reign was much more authentic and satisfying. As far as taste goes, sometimes I feel like I'm on an ever-shrinking island.
Amazing video. The Doors were 50 years ahead of themselves. Their music is our music, it never gets old. We rap our arms around it, and never let go. It just gets better with every passing day. Thanks for all the work of putting the video together & posting it.
Some outlaws live by the side of a lake the ministers daughters in love with the snake out in the well by the side of the road wake up girl we're almost Home.
~Lyrics~ Not to touch the earth Not to see the sun Nothing left to do, but Run, run, run Let's run Let's run House upon the hill Moon is lying still Shadows of the trees Witnessing the wild breeze C'mon baby run with me Let's run Run with me Run with me Run with me Let's run The mansion is warm, at the top of the hill Rich are the rooms and the comforts there Red are the arms of luxuriant chairs And you won't know a thing 'till you get inside Dead president's corpse in the driver's car The engine runs on glue and tar Come on along, not goin' very far To the East to meet the Czar Run with me Run with me Run with me Let's run Whoa! Somehow outlaws lived by the side of a lake The minister's daughter's in love with the snake Who lives in a well by the side of the road Wake up, girl, we're almost home Ya, c'mon! We should see the gates by mornin' We should be inside the evenin' Sun, sun, sun Burn, burn, burn Soon, soon, soon Moon, moon, moon I will get you Soon, soon, soon! I am the Lizard king I can do anything
That part when he starts singing, "Dead president's corpse in the driver's car, then engine runs on glue and tar..." Just after the execution of JFK I'd think...so dark, so heavy with those confused Keyboard-slammed chords!! Brilliant!!
Sensaciones de una época embriagadora en la que la sociedad estaba inmersa en supuestos cambios como sucede en la actualidad los Doors y Jim Morrison nos llevan a un sueño alucinante
Holy fuck!! Same!! Awesome to see you here haha i see you on every Black Sabbath bootleg video :D, the doors truly are one of the best! They share my no1 spot with sabbath
Wait! There's been a slaughter here. Don't stop. speak or look around And gloves and fan on the ground We're getting out of town We're getting out of town And you're the one I want to come Not to touch the earth Not to see the sun Nothing left to do, but Run, run, run Let's run Let's run House upon the hill Moon is lying still Shadows of the trees Witnessing the wild breeze C'mon baby run with me Let's run Run with me Run with me Run with me Let's run The mansion is warm, at the top of the hill Rich are the rooms and the comforts there Red are the arms of luxuriant chairs And you won't know a thing till you get inside Dead president's corpse in the driver's car The engine runs on glue and tar Come on along, not going very far To the East to meet the Czar Run with me Run with me Run with me Let's run Some outlaws lived by the side of a lake The minister's daughter's in love with the snake Who lives in a well by the side of the road Wake up, girl, we're almost home Ya, c'mon! This is one of those doors songs you like because you are a hard-core doors fan. Definitely not a great song to listen to for listening to the doors for the first time. Great song though and excellent song writing
Don't Stop to Speak or Look Around Your Gloves and Fan are on the Ground We're Getting Out of Town We're Going On the Run And You're the One... I Want to Come - Jim Morrison
"Let's Run And you won't know her name til you get inside House upon a hill Wake up now we're almost home 🖤 🖤 🎶🎵 and put in the hot tub to disguise the time of death in order to protect club's owner and it's elites clientel 🖤
Everything I like about the Doors is encapsulated in this track : mystical, literate, unpredictable, edgy and creatively artistic. Makes me wonder the level of expression they would have reached, had Jim lived.
I know I'm not the first or last who has dreamed about singing any song by the Doors, but I clearly remember singing this one upside down in front of a bunch of people, the atmosphere I felt that night was of pure joy. When I woke up, I cried.
Sometimes I wonder if people truly understand this song, in between the lines its hidden in plain sight the message is revealed, a mysterious masterpiece. The Doors were phenomenal, truly amazing tuned into it.
