Fun fact, both this and the doors self titled make 2 of Michael Giras favorite albums ever. And once you know that you can hear the influence in giras songwriting on a lot of Swans albums
Think its necessary to clarify that atleast on Spotify the 2014 remaster has a few bonus tracks (demos, my sweet lord 2000, i live for you) placed in the middle of the tracklist that arent in the original album and definitely should be skipped on a first listen. The 50th anniversary edition has the original tracklist and I’d say incredibly better sound mixing, so I’d easily say go with that.
Also that the apple jam (out of the blue, its johhnys birthday, plug me in, i remember jeep & thanks for the pepperoni) isnt really considered apart of the album and was included more as a seperate bonus disc
I highly recommend that you watch The Doors' live concert from 1968 at Hollywood Bowl. It's one of their greatest live performances and will give you a better idea of who The Doors were and what an original and amazing band they were for the history of rock music. It'll be a great way to learn more about them.
Yes that was an amazing era. Also in '68 was the Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus. A TV special with a Stones set and guests the Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Eric Clapton... Also Monterey ('67) and Woodstock ('69) fest! ✌️🕊️🎤👂🧠🤯
Smags please I need you to include Scott 3 and/or Scott 4 in your classics reviews! The goat imo and def a huge inspiration for Bowie's singing voice and general mood in the Thin White Duke and Berlin era, as well as for Blackstar.
That's what Swans played before performing when I saw them last week and it made me so happy, even though the crowd wasn't into it. And I think the last 3 Walker albums had a major influence with Bowie when it came to Blackstar.
Ignore all of my other recs you should just listen to The Cars debut. Only way it goes wrong is if you already know half the songs given that they’re classic
if you want a slightly strange album, you could give "The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads" by "Lift to Experience" a go. It's has one of the worst album covers of all time, but underneath that you've got one of the best underground shoegaze works of the early 2000s :p A reworked version came out in 2017, and it's really good
hell yeah, when the music's over is their best song imo still can't comprehend the sound of the guitars in that one part, its so cosmic and psychedelic, and this album is kinda proto gothic rock, escpecially first track, which is insane for a 60s record
dude you HAVE to listne to It was hot we stayed in the water by The Microphones. If you like the Glow pt2 you WILL love it, plus im positive thats where the name for the glow pt2 came from
Oh that somehow made me think of Wovenhand. I think there's a Doors influence possibly. I like in the Doors movie, Jim tells Ed Sullivan 'We're kind of a sullen group Ed'. Possible exaggeration but stuck with me 🥀
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS MY GUY a few recommendations: Process - Sampha (experimental r&b, great production) Nurture - Porter Robinson (light summer electric with fun production) Koi No Yokan - Deftones (very heavy, sexier and heavier radiohead imo) OIL OF EVERY PEARLS UN-INSIDES - SOPHIE (experimental electronic) Hypochondriac - Brakence (very experimental emo rap, glitch pop) Reading Writing And Arithmetic - The Sundays (the smiths ish, with beautiful female vocals)
If you ever wanna get into Bob Dylan then check Check out the album Highway 61 Revisited from him. All bangers on that and the best place to start imo with Bob Dylan.
I think the people are asking for All Things Must Pass, smags In another direction, I would love to see you react to some grunge, specifically "Dirt" and “Jar of Flies” by Alice In Chains and "Superunknown". by Soundgarden
It's cool that you dig The Doors! Your next reaction should be L.A. Woman. It's their last album recorded during Jim's lifetime and is a classic on par with this one. Very different vibe though. Their other albums are more hit-or-miss, though have some great tunes, and the 2 albums recorded after Jim's death are not worth anyone's time, shameful that they even decided to release them Other recommendations: Nirvana - Nevermind Portishead - Third Modest Mouse - The Moon & Antarctica
you need to react to another boris album. you reacted to boris's feedbacker about 6 months ago. their discography is super good and theyve got a lot of different genres to choose from. Feedbacker is quite a wild one to start with so here area few more light albums. "Refrain", "Akuma No Uta", "Noise" and "Mabuta No Ura" loving the reactions recently. keep it up

He’s already done Violator. Music For the Masses introduced me to Depeche Mode and I spin many great DM albums. Perfectly crafted music for dark souls like mine.
@@CBGB_1977 well I didn't know it exist, is it only on patreon or something? for me it's David Bowie - Low and then Air - Moon Safari on youtube, nothing in between, even with VPN
Vampire Weekend the first three albums (and maybe the fourth). Don't do the new one as some people here suggest, it's their weakest release so far and you'll get disappointed.
PLEASE DO ANOTHER SWEET TRIP REVIEW ON THEIR LATEST ALBUM, I would love to know your opinion on it. I know the controversy behind sweet trip that has happened, but I would really appreciate it if you would do a review on A Tiny House, In Secret Speeches, Polar equals. It is soooo worth it and is pretty different IN A GOOD WAY than the other albums. It is very much worth it and I would love to know what you think about each track.
