The Doors channel is the official RU-vid home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.

Ray’s work on this album puts most of his other compositions to shame quite honestly. He was truly inspired throughout. Whether being subtle and delicate (riders of the storm, cars hiss) or supercharged and propulsive he seems to always inject the perfect sense of atmosphere. I guess not having worry about bass lines extricated him in many ways from the short bursts he was limited to throughout the first 5 albums. I wish he had experimented more with jazz (especially fusion) after Jim died instead trying to keep the doors afloat with little success. I feel he and Robbie could have had accomplished (if not lucrative) solo careers.

This song should possibly be a reminder to ALL who really like music--ANY music, that popular opinion and tastes are really NOT "all that". Even many Doors fans do not often recognize THIS song as being a Doors "jewel" because they're too busy "oohing" and "ahhing" over a song like "Light My Fire", because some "influencer(s)" or radio station/"Top 10 list" thinks THAT is the only song/album "true fans" should hear. With that being said, I have to admire the concept of the visual switch/change represented ^^^ from Jim to "Jimbo", or rather from "pretty pussy" to "bad ass roaring old lion". Good art and artists inspire other good art/artists, and the visual aspect to this RU-vid video catches AN essence, if not THE essence of this song. And, yes, the keyboard sounds to this opens yet another can of "Whoop Ass".

My 11 year old son just passed away November 11 of this year. We are still waiting for the toxicologist to tell us what happened. His name was Dakota Sky. He was arawak. But everytime I played the doors songs my son got up and started singing and dancing. I would secretly record him doing it. He talked about being reincarnated from Jim Morrison. The way my son moved around when he sang was exactly like Jim. I wish the band could see. But my son was some how bleeding internally and he had a heart attack. I just hope to get answers. My son talked about space a lot and was so smart. The things he would talk about he never learned from school. He had Jims hairstyle too. His favorite song was L.A. woman. He came up with his own little version to sing to me. My son and I had a bond that will always be remembered and cherished forever. I miss him so much it kills me.

Yeah that's the bittersweet truth. Basically Jim had no real intention of returning to the Doors after this album. He left the band and moved to Paris to be taken more seriously as a poet. Even had he lived, I think there's a good possibility this would have still been the last Doors album with Jim, but who knows? I just think it's easier to think about the doors as having a complete anthology as opposed to pondering what could have been.

People will still be listening to the Doors 100 years from now and the impact will be no less. I think that was the whole point of what Jim was trying to do. He's trying to reach out to people and break us free from the self induced mental trance we've become imprisoned in, and awaken a whole new world inside of us, awaken the previously dormant inner life energy we all have inside of us but didn't know we even possessed. It's a truly liberating feeling...

I really don't know all that much about it all, only what was told to us after we lost him as we did, but I've always had this weird nagging suspicion that there was something odd, dark or sinister brewing somewhere in Jim's mind in the days before leaving for Paris to join his woman Pam. If I recall correctly, even the other members of the Doors seemed to sense something different, or a little off with how Jim was in the last couple of days they'd spent with him working on LA Woman... couldn't put their finger on it, but there was just something.... my guess was a deep undefined gut feeling that things were coming to an end, just no one really knew that just yet. A changeling is a mythological creature who is substituted for a human being. They’re often unpredictable, which is how Jim Morrison frames himself in this composition of his. He penned the lyrics in 1968, but The Doors didn’t record the rocker until 1970, when they made what would be Morrison’s last album with the group, “LA Woman.” Commenting on “The Changeling” in 2012, keyboardist Ray Manzarek observed that the tune tells the story of Morrison’s adventurous life in LA, whereas drummer John Densmore said that from the time they met to the time of his demise, Morrison changed from “Michelangelo’s statue of David” to “overweight with a beard.” In 2011, The Doors RU-vid channel released an official video for this song. 💚🎵💙 You have not been forgotten, forever 27 James Douglas Morrison (1943 - 1971)… 🌹

It's a tough choice, but this just may be my favorite Doors song. The groove is just awesome and Jim's vocals are even better.

One of my favorite songs by the doors. He explains himself how it is! What a legend, this guy used to hang out in dive bars so he’s away from folk. He liked to drink but unfortunately he drank too much and his death is surrounded by drugs. Anything is possible with Jim. What a shame he went so early.

This video has captured so strongly his sense of Changing, how hardly he investigated his own changes until this discovery, acceptance, and screamly manifestation: "You gotta see me chAANge!!" Thank you, Mrs. Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore, for how you guys achieved to immortalize such of human being, expression, perception, ... !!!! Thank you whoever made this video for not closing in an black background. This epic ending just freezes you against your eyes, while tha mind enjoys itself in order to synthesize so many things... Your fcking amazin` fckin crazy!!!! I love you bro!!! And I even had the opportunity to sing Roadhouse Blues in his physical representation of complete body freedomness, at Paris, until a guard came to invite us for going out!!! Thank you, The Doors, for representing so much in my life.

50th anniversary... 50 years ago, omg!? This album came out when I was just turning 12 years old, my older brother had it. I remember hearing him playing it, but he would kick me out of our shared bedroom so he and his buddy could listen, as I sat outside... the door...
