Not really. Any build could shoot with the shot meter off even with a 60 3 ball. 2Ways were definitely overpowered. 16 was the most balanced 2K.

Agree with basically all of this, just a few things to add: 2K19 Jumpshot Timing didn’t exist, and Perimeter contests were bipolar people could hit in your mouth, 2K20 didn’t nerf pick pockets btw you just had to time your reaches better, I was a big fan of the defense on 20 cause if you played good d on your opponent consistently you’d get rewarded most of the time I didn’t play 2K21 that much strictly because of the defense, 2K22 is a disappointment when it comes to defense, they added all these offensive badges only new thing we got was menace which according to 2KLabs barely works, now I’m smothering guards just to get a green right over my head, made a center w/ 99 block and people have made contested lays from 20% to 100%, devs obviously catered to offense this year, just look at the stage players they literally have to double the guard🤦🏾‍♂️

As someone who was a pure lock in 19 an also a playsharp that’s first one is partly true yea sometimes on my playsharp I would make crazy shit over people but that was sometimes people watch clips an think that you could just shoot over anyone whenever an that’s not true especially towards the end of the year when they fixed shot contests an never did I have a problem on my lock with a guard or really anyone shooting over me an you also got rewarded for good defense for instance if a guard was dumb an dribbled into me it’s a steal if someone passed a bad pass I would get the passing lane if I had someone boxed they couldn’t just speedboost out an make a contested shot on me in 20 an yo that started happening an while 20s defense was better than most I found I would be a 2 way finisher with people making whites over me an it was braindead 19 overall was just a better game

2k22 Steal rating is still good, you just gotta try to rip them at a good timing, especially when your opponent is doing 20000 dribble combinations cuz you’re bound to get a steal eventually. I tested it out with a 95 steal compared to a 31 steal in my center and they were both destroying HOF unpluckable play shots that were dribbling like steezo. Aside from that, Paint defense and Perimeter defense is a little trash, but it’s easy at the same time when you can read your matchup

I'm personally good at defense now considering noone passes to me. Anyways at the beginning defending was absolute hell because people just basically transferred the playshot and glass cleaner from 2k21 to 2k22 making them very annoying builds in my eyes. I average 5 steals and 5 blocks a game in the rec as a center you just gotta play good help and spam passing lanes steals with the interceptor badge. Also tip u gotta abuse the taking a charge mechanic which magnetized the dribbler or makes them pick up the ball or force a pass. You gotta find a way to disrupt the zigzag cheese otherwise defending is pretty easy

Niggas be so cheesy w the dribbling.. I’m a lock and I guard play shots all day and I understand it’s a game but the defense is def significantly slower and recover room is little to none even for me as a 🔒

Lowkey cuz I used to guard it 20 unless the person I was holding was just better than me, but now bruh idc what y’all say this defense is slidy asf I swear I stop and my guy slide an extra 15ft

@@trevonhodge2115 Naw it’s fasho loose my slashing play feel slidey asf and having a 95 speed don’t make it no better. Now while my 3 & d off guard has more control, to be a lock I feel like the recovery time is trash

Idk man maybe I’m just different but I rarely have any trouble on defense. The person I’m guarding will have to make a smart and good move to get past me. Those people that do the left right cheese get ripped all day by me. Btw i’m not even a lockdown, just have my steals at 82 with gold pick pocket.
