Eritrea was in an armed independence struggle from 1961-1991. It's was war of independence not war of autonomy as you alluded in your video.

Something to add: Mengistu didn’t won the Ogaden War by the Derg army alone, he was was supported by Cuba and South Yemen who provided troops, East Germany and North Korea who provided training and the Soviet Union who provided modern weapons. Had it not been for these four Ethiopia would’ve likely lost Ogaden to Somalia, which had one of the strongest army in Africa at the time thanks to Soviet weapons before relations were broken off during the war.

All problems that Zimbabwe faced in recent years could be attributed to Mengistu. Destroying a millennium long African royalty must have carried one hell of a curse

I feel like going from an absolute monarchy to another form of government is the most difficult transition. Not to excuse what Mengistu and the Derg did, especially the mismanagement leading to the famine. But pretty much everywhere in Africa was unstable during that time period in one way or another. Either coups, a civil war, genocide, fighting another country, the list goes on. He was a product of his era.

Sorry , please halt giving any credit to Mengistu hailemariam until you have done research. Mengistu's roots are obscure probably impoverished background, not much educated, who craved for a better life. Mengistu was recruited by foreign agents when he was training overseas as an officer of the Ethiopian army. Many in the army remember him to be slouchy & aggressive, probably emboldened by his foreign patrons.Mengistu was inept person in power, his mission was to disrupt the great Amhara nation, creator of the great Ethiopia. He was instrument to external forces with illwill for the Amhara. That's why he survives to this date. He was a con man, never a patriot nor nationalist otherwise the greater powers would have long rid of him like they did with many other sincere African leaders

This video should have started with the fact Tigray and Eritrea worked with Italy and Germany fascist during wwii and haileselassie and the Amharas worked the communist. The first communist in Ethiopia were Italians then haileselassie invited British communist.
