+Sanian38 I decided not to move to London at that time, but now I have a couple of job interviews with companies in London. I'll have to see how that goes before I decide to leave this place. I'm not a fan of changing places and people.
I'm from Middlesbrough in the north of England and when my friends come up from London are amazed by how everything is cheaper for example my rent for a one bedroom flat is less than £400 a month.
Thats so true, Im from london and when i lived up north for awhile everyone was so rude towards me, i have a cockney accent and ppl would literally stop in the street and stare at me, if they heard me speaking (mostly older ppl) so yeah totally agree.
It's improved but I've always found the air quality in London to be really poor due to pollution by traffic fumes. It really sets off my allergies so even with antihistamines my eyes are constantly sore and streaming.
It also depends on your flatmates. My friend and i would toss our clothes into the machine before setting out to the shops. But the water connection was crappy and we'd come back to a flooded kitchen. Clothes tooks days, sometimes weeks to dry. But Madi was lots of fun, so we'd laugh it off. My next flat mate was a chef. He'd spend ages cooking dinner. But the ensuing mess. And he'd forget to take out the rubbish so the whole flat ponged.
Love this video! Coming from Australia the weather is something I've struggled with as soon as a I arrived! As well as money! Still London is a great place to be! Love it! ✌🏻️
Great video. I come from Sweden and agree with you on many points. The flat situation is horrible and the living standard sucks. Still love it here but you have to choose your accommodation wisely, always stands between the standard, quality hand how far out you're ready to live. :p
From another comment I made up there: You've got to be going some for £6 a pint, either some sort of speciality or craft beer, some overpriced twaddle or maybe in a nightclub.
I live in south Wales UK we think paying more than £2.50 a pint is to expensive for instance in our local wetherspoons some time they have special promotions on beers where they sell beers from around £1.50 to £1.99 a pint you must be fools in London to be paying the prices for everything you do
Best place in London situated in zone 2 is the one between Canary Wharf and the blackwall area ( isle of dogs).you find new development building and the average price for a studio is between 280£ up to 350£ per week .but they are new , you have fitness facilities, swimming pool , etc.
No nightlife, sterile, lots of Asians who are like robots but weaker than women on the gym, no community vibe since the original population has moved away. Also many ppl work in Finance=selfish assholes.
The saying "with a cherry on top" means a good thing. I had a great day and the cherry on top I got a bonus!! The "icing on the cake" is more like London costs so much and the icing on the cake is it has crappy weather. Cake was not always the the sweet we eat. Cake was the big pieces of creosote and ick from the chimney, hence "let them eat cake" is not a dessert comment.
Money knocks everything else out of the park - i think this is the relevant phrase you were looking for. anyway, i visited London last week. I agree....the "flats" are old yet expensive. ridiculous.
In local groceries you can buy a pint of beer only for £1.2 I know that isn't a pub but it's cheaper. Yes, the transportation is really expensive. That's why you have to live near to your workplace. It's so hard if you earn only the national minimum living wage.
+Jen Dre Oh i see. You are right. Soho is one of the most expensive place in London and impossible to find a cheap rent. I'm lucky because I working in Isleworth. So that's really easy to find cheap rent. :-)
I'm sure it's very nice, as London can be, but I like to be anti-London, because this country is so Londoncentric (real word?). Was it the Clash who sang "I'm so bored of the USA" change it to London, that would be about right.
I benefit from it. Because i am a Londoner. However i do agree that the country is too Londoncentric. I think we should have areas for certain things. The way America has LA with all the movie studios, Palo Alto with all the Tech, Manhattan with banking, Washington with politics. We could do something like that here. It is too Londoncentric which creates a huge north south divide.
I know it's named Great Britain because of its geography, but as a patriotic opinion I think it's great. As for London,.....I must be really tired of life.
@RFE, That theory and strategy *makes no sense* because doing so makes it *impossible to unify* and *makes us all weaker* and that is *exactly what the corporation heads* and *board members* and *hyper-capitalist stock shareholders* and *politicians want,* to keep us *divided and conquered, forever enslaved* to them. We must use critical thinking and LOGIC and self-responsibility in *taking issue* with the *POLITICIANS, not* our London-based and/or London-native *brethren.*
It looks like this video has a strong connection with the previous one. You are starting to prepare yourself and to collect excuses...But please don't. Everything is going to be all right!😀
i live in a town 75 miles from London , i pay a 75 £ / week for my rent for a room in a shared house.Beer here it's around 2.40 £ but in some pubs might go for 4.50 ; weather it's same like ur saying --->SHIT ... it's my first summer here and this june we got only rain and 15°.
I live on Daventry , close town's that you might interes you are : Rugby , Banbury , Oxford , Coventry ,Northampton. All of them are ''safe'' but there are plenty of idiots evrywhere.
Jen? Doesn't really have anything to do with the video itself (fellow redhead German girl in London here) but did you do a bow with your back hair?! That looks awesome!!! Could you sent me a tutorial or is it some foam or sponge underneath? How did you do it? Greetings from hoxton :)
0:36 " London just *takes the biscuit* " idioms.thefreedictionary.com/take+the+biscuit London will be very cheap soon if you can earn in Euros !! Haha, I lived in Graz for a while and my Graz friends said they thought that those from Vienna look down on them... and my sister lives South of Lyon and they hate the Parisians for the same reason !!
In places like Brent the local supermarket's throw away perfectly good food, so I'll take the biscuits....the bananas, bread, meat, cereal, cheese, yogurt, tomatoes, whatever the hell's going. #avoidthatfoodbankshame
what areas of the uk would you recommend to a french family? we like to send our children to a french school the first year but there are only two so far?, one in london and the other in Bristol
No, you didn't get it :). I meant that deep inside, you miss Germany, and all these little downsides sonner or later will make you think if it it is worth to be in UK! (and it would happen in UK or any other country).
London is expensive? Understatement of the year. That city is SINFULLY expensive! But don't worry. Since the UK is about to leave the EU, London is about to lose a SHIT ton of money. I'd rather live in Berlin anyways. That city is WAY more affordable than London and far less pretentious. Dublin and Edinburgh are also way better cities.
Come to leicestershire. It is cheaper and kind of cool, i live here... lol Parks are not nature! I go up the Derbyshire dales and sit on a huge hill surrounded by nothing but countryside, that is nature.
Jen Dre Sweet well we have dear, rabbits, moles, foxes, cows, sheep(which we shout mint sauce as we are passing etc all running free and if you are still they will come up to you and say hello. If there is anywhere you should visit in the UK it is the Derbyshire dales, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. Our fine ales up here are incredibly good also. Oh and Mushrooms, real trees, woodland, and volcanic rock...
the north dislikes the south due to the disproportional amount of money the government spends there .25 times more than anywhere else equating to over 5000 pounds more per person per year and then is held up as an example of how well its doing compared to the other cities especially those in northern England who have to get by on less money,
You look kind of cute and also kind of British in a way. Must be the red hair and the light skin. But at least you're slim. I noticed many British women are often fat. Also what surprised me that even in January/February they will wear mini-skirts when going out.
Sorry Jen Dre, I stumbled across your channel and made my crappy, jokey comments about London and Corby, could'nt care less really. At the time I was looking to make comments about Jeremy Kyle (for some reason I can't) so maybe you can do me a favour, on my behalf tell horrible Jeremy he's a arrogant, vile dictator who needs a hard smack or 2 (although I'm addicted to his show, so he's doing something right). Cheers Jen, something for you to do on those lonely London nights.
John Kershaw Corby is a lot worse than London, not saying London is great tho. London is a good place to visit, not so good to live it will cripple you
+Jen Dre Scotland does look lovely, I wouldn't mind living in Edinburgh :) I couldn't imagine settling down in London but it does seem like a great place to be
Finishing this video youtube suggested me watching this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-460gTwngwkw.html It's another german girl living in London's youtube channel. After having some else for comparison I am convinced that you are funny, entertainment and informative, short and to the point. And yeah, I can definitely distinguish her accent from yours.
+Jen Dre hey, I have a few bureaucracy questions (NIN, leaving job etc...) do you answer in private? if so, how can I get in touch with you? Nice channel btw :)
+Jen Dre I was hoping I could reach you like, via email because is something a bit specific and I wouldn't really want to share it on ask.fm or twitter but if you can't or don't share your email it's totally fine no problemo :)
John Kershaw IKR. Read an article in the Guardian about a Pole saying he's going home citing one reason that it is "over populated" like no shit. You keep swarming over here.
+RFE the Guardian could not handle we voted to leave the EU, man they were so sore about it. I never knew people in Britain were so Fanatical about the EU, I thought apart from Nick Clegg we all thought it was shit.
John Kershaw I think the readership were 92% Remain. Really out of touch for a paper that claims to stand up for the working class. Just a bunch of women with daddy issues.
+RFE The poor Guardian, we're giving it a beating, but I'll carry on. I suppose the more extreme element of the readership would support the international working class by creating some sort of cuddly Soviet Union across the world, which isn't at all mind explodingly impractical !!!
