The Dr. Seuss Table

I made this end table from an old burl chunk I had and a stack of burn pile recuses I got from my local wood supplier. I fashioned the top into a 4-way bookmatch and power-carved the base with an angle grinder and a special disc by Kutzall. Let me know if you have any questions on anything! The only thing that would have been better is if you had shaped the table leg like the lamp base in the movie A Christmas Story. You were pretty close though. Missed it by that much! Take care, great project!

The first half of the ru-vid.comUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.

that is me every time. Oh, let me see the start, then I'll jump the end and see the finished... 15-20 minutes later I am watching the finished piece, and going "how... why... how did I just spend 20 minutes watching this"... Hard to describe, but it is really awesome. I've watched other woodworkers, and I'll see some of their stuff, then get bored... Blacktail is the best :)

More off-cut firewood to beautiful furniture. It’s amazing what gets thrown out and/or burned. The walnut is beautiful. The table looks like it came right out of a Dr. Seuss book. I would love to see more of that. As an amateur woodworker, I feel like we get stuck in the mindset of straight edges and 90 degree angles. It’s nice to see a furniture creation with angles all over the map. Love your channel.

When I make knife handles, sometimes there will be very fine voids that need to be filled. Instead of mixing the sawdust with the glue i found that packing the void with the dust(overfill it and something like a needle works well to really get it in there) and then using a drop of very thin CA glue on it. the thin stuff will wick in and set up nearly instantly. After sanding off the excess, it seems to work better at keeping the void filled. Give it a shot sometime, see how you like it.

I'm not sure why - but I find myself watching SO many of your videos! There is something about how you explain things and show things that is really engaging, and watching what looks to a layman's eye like junk wood turn into a magnificently beautiful creation by your hands is truly captivating and enthralling. I am not a woodworker and I don't think I would ever undertake a project the likes of which you do because of the enormous amount of time, complexity and attention to detail. I've built a treehouse for my kids and a treehouse cage for my bird, and other very simple things like that - but I am simple AMAZED at what you are able to create! Also, I VERY much appreciate that a) that you never ever use foul language and b) you never show sexually suggestive scenes. Some of the best youtube content that I've seen often has at the very least a "throw in" of some foul language or sexually suggestive scenes that really are completely gratuitous and have nothing to do with the video's content and are thrown in "just 'cause" , and I always come away feeling from things like that like "Uch, why did they have to go and mar an otherwise amazing clip." Your videos are great content, pure and simple. The "Real McCoy". Keep up the GREAT work!!!! And thank you for providing truly enjoyable and genuinely valuable content!

Incredible… I own a construction/real estate business now and I’m 38 hope to be retired by 40 from the day to day grind , and can’t wait to start my wood working journey. Your pieces make me look forward to it more and more every time I watch your work !! Thank you !

Oh to have access to a burn bin like that!! You have a fantastic talent to make what you did with that material. Your table is a masterpiece! Would love to see a large table with black walnut. I figure , if one is going to drool, go big! Love the videos and sharing your talent.! It makes us really old woodworkers realize we’re never too old to learn something new. Keep up the great work! Many thanks!

The 4 way bookends table top looks great. It reminds me of a card table a friend of mine has. Same center, only made in an octagon shape with a triple frame. The center frame was removable in sections to reveal each of the player's tray.

Love watching your videos and I don't mind if you talk the whole time. I find your voice soothing. Keep up the good work.

The base and stand are GORGEOUS. I think I agree with you assessment that the top was a lot more work than the final product would suggest. Overall, it's a keeper!

I have watched most of your videos now and honestly this table is one of my favourites, I’m not sure why! But it’s absolutely gorgeous, has a slightly childish spin, and I just love that

I really like how the leg turned out with the color and grain changes between the layers. The curved contouring shows them off very nicely.
