What I really didnt like about Inqusition is that it puts you into this powerful role of the leader of the Inquisition way to fast. You are almost executed at on point and a few hours later you are declared leader. It really doesnt add up.
They could never get back the magic of Origins. The second had a good idea behind it, game of thrones style but lack of developpement time and money gave us annoying fights, terrible game designs and awful corridor levels with no visual difference. Inquisition held a lot of promise with its open world, only to realise that it held absolutely nothing but mindless fetch quests, weirdly linear and a lack of vision. I'm saddened at the state of the franchise because I loved Origins, its what got me into Rpgs and I rarely get into franchises but I wanted it to be "MY" franchise. But it couldn't, it devolved beyond recognition.
It is a shame to see, if anything I hope there will at least be some kind of remaster for origins to keep the game in some sort of relevance. Thanks for watching the video hope you enjoyed
great vid :)) i love origins, but the very flawed second installment also has a nostalgia-fueled place in my heart. personally i actually really liked how it was just a story of "some guy", rather than one of a world-saving hero. my dream follow-up to the mass effect trilogy would be playing as a mercenary on omega, slowly rising through the ranks, instead of travelling to andromeda, so that we have a "new galaxy" to save. inquisition to me, is sort of like scrolling through social media, so many possibilities and things going on, that it feels tedious and overwhelming. strongly agree on only caring about returning characters. in me3 (that has tons of its own issues, as we all know) making certain decisions made me at least feel something. curing the genophage or freeing the geth - they felt like well achieved closure to the series' themes. their build up throughout the trilogy had a pay off. i was looking forward to resolving the mages-templars conflict and it felt short. also, the grey wardens are suddenly a bunch of losers. :(( fun fact! on matt rhodes' blog you can see some concept art for a scrapped idea, that allowed you to make yourself the divine. it would be twice as hard as a male, and again twice as hard as a male qunari. "an effectively game and lore breaking act of heresy" he called it. if they would've gone through with it, we could've had a nice evil playthrough option, like in bg3. but i guess the need for continuty in order to make dread wolf happen, prevents that. absolution was trash, i didn't even manage to get through it. at first i was excited to see tevinter and lesbian rep, but both were done terribly. anyway, fingers crossed for dread wolf, one can hope it will be more similar to origins, taking inspiration from the success of bg3. if not, i at least look forward to killing solas.
Even if I don't agree with every little detail you said, I really love that video. Thanks so much for all the work you put into it! I really love the series and just hope that dreadwolf will be nice. It doesn't have to be perfect or very good, nice would be just fine by me!
By the way the story in DA2 is about what worth more?? at first you have nothing but you're happy you have your family and ppl you love.. then you have everything you ever wanted you became a champion but.. you lost your friends, family and even sanity to a point.. so, a happy no one or a depressed champion?? what is the cost to have everything?? The story is sooo deep and psychological.. and that's what i like about it.. Hawk character is so deep for a protagonist who was just in one game ( the second best protagonist of one game for me after Arthur Morgan of RDR2 and all of us know Hawk is deeper but Arthur is way better) 43:28 its Arishak bro..
The Qunari got done so dirty because the modern writers probably don't understand their concept in the slightest, nor are probably educated enough to know about history. I find the qunari so interesting because of how their society is a theocratic spin on Plato's Ideal Society. They have their penultimate law, the Qun. From the qun, they have three branches. The Military, the Church and the Merchants/Craftmen (essentially the citizens). The entire thing is interpreted as a physical being, and each being within the being a part of the whole. It's quite beautiful, and one of the best parts about Sten is the philosophical discussions that challenge both his and the (normative) player's world view. Super great writing. Fallout New Vegas also does this ideological battle of ideals pretty good. The Legion is painted as vile and evil, but everywhere you go, you hear about their superior defense, safe roads and order, while the supposed good guys NCR are mired in political disputes, missing funding, lack of control, direction or focus. Really sets things diametrically opposed. These are the types of explorations that elevates our minds.
I couldn't even get out of the Hinterlands in Inquisition. Nothing about it felt like Dragon Age. The lore didn't align with what came before, I didn't like the companions, I couldn't tell whether I was creating a Dalish or City elf, the combat was terrible, and every character and piece of armor looks greasy and hideous. At least in 2 I liked all of the companions (except Sebastian, but he's DLC). Origins had an amazing story that could play out is so many different ways, and I enjoyed every companion except for Morrigan. Inquisition has nothing for me to like.
I loved all the games and always appreciated how every game is drastically different from the last. I never wanted another Origins 200 hours of grinding nightmare was good enough for me and DA2 had a great story and the best final act in the entire series all the boss fights are far superior to Origins and Inquisition. The title of the video says it all about the series and in my opinion that’s what makes great and unique. Inquisition definitely did a great job finishing the stories from previous games and it had the most potential of any BioWare game which was sadly underutilized. That’s the biggest crime EA and BioWare ever did and it’s sad. DAI deserved better and way more DLCs and Multiplayer mode in single player similar to Star Wars Battlefront conquest mode would have been so epic which was an idea but EA wanted multiplayer 😢
Dragon age 2 for me was the best game in the series.. the story and characters, the best it is not up for debate. but overall the exploration and character creation sucks! ppl hate it cuz you were hawke! a human! its the only reason and a good one really.. but if we don't consider that. The game it self is brilliant.
