@@someguywithawooperpfp3163I played indie horror when I was ten lmao. Or at least I watched it, I was always too terrified to actually download games like that
@@someguywithawooperpfp3163I don't think it's a problem lol As a former ten year old, indie horror games were cool for me (and they are!). I certainly didn't play them (I wasn't allowed to use the computer) but I enjoyed watching walkthroughs.
The hyper-realistic Instagram snatched eyes and lips on lego-style heads are in and of themselves nightmare fuel. Surely there was some midpoint between old-style Roblox dots for eyes and this photorealistic Bratz look that doesn't fall face-first into the uncanny valley.
@@pastelcatnip This is my exact reason too along with how kinda complicated it looks, so many details and buttons on the screen. If I wanna play a fashion game I still go to fashion famous 😅
I don't play Roblox but I did recently witness some friends of mine get into a very heated debate with some children on DTI that included the kids telling my friends that they "can't wait until their rights get taken away"
I loved this, I've never played DTI but this whole story remind me of dark theories from 2000s games like satanic rituals in Bully, big foot in GTA, etc. It's a nice feeling seeing something like this in a modern game
there is NO way that i literally was JUST playing it the other day and was trying to break out of the boundaries for kicks and giggles and saw some girl in a cage and NOW one of my favorite youtubers is covering what felt like a real life creepypasta for me literally perfect timing on this one oh my god lmao
@@alabamaslammer3921 DUDE i didn't even find it like intended LMAO. i saw someone jumping outside of the windows and thought it was funny so i tried to do it myself and found out that the boundaries are super easy to break and had some fun with it. found the fleshy monster pic first and was so confused but shrugged it off as like some fun boundary break easter egg and then accidentally fell down into the cage room and was absolutely flabbergasted. fun fact i actually found where they test items. its really easy to break the boundaries with a little bit of elbow grease and i never would've found this stuff if it wasn't for me being incredibly bored during freeplay mode one day lol
@@alabamaslammer3921 DUDE i didn't even find it like. as it was intended to be found.... i was like, really really bored one day and saw someone jumping out the windows. and i thought it looked silly and fun so i tried to figure out how to do it. and it turns out its *incredibly* easy with a little bit of elbow grease. and _then_ i found the fleshy monster but like, i just shrugged it off as a creepy out-of-bounds easter egg.... but THEN i fell through the floor and ended up STARING AT A GIRL IN A CAGE IN A CREEPY ROOM and i was so floored... i was so confused about it and thought i found a real creepypasta... also fun fact i found where i think they test items? its behind the building. took some cool screenshots back there
@@heyitstyyyy oh wait that's sick!! It sounds like such an experience finding it by accident that way imagine doing it without any idea of the lore of dti lol
@@alabamaslammer3921 oh absolutely! i had no background other than "this is a fashion game i've vaguely heard about", since i'm not on tiktok or anything. the only reason i even found out about all this was by complete chance and i think that's honestly hilarious? funniest way to find out about it. if it wasn't for Random DTI Player #5 i would've never even thought twice about trying to find anything or mess around with it. so props to whoever was jumping outside of the window that day in the freeplay mode
@@violeteatsstars I was sitting there like :"Metamorphosis? Like Ovid's Metamorpheses? The Poems where Agammemnon is mentioned bc he was the one leading the greeks in the trojan war???"
As a Brazilian, "saudade" has a very complex meaning. It can be, in a short explanation, the feeling of missing something/someone, but it's not only that. It's the sadness you have because something happened and won't happen again, but also the joy of having experienced that, wishing you could do that again. There's also the term "saudosista", someone who is very deep in that feeling, focused on the sweet moments of the past in a way that's not healthy. 😅
@@save_bandit yeah, it has a lot of nostalgia in it, the only difference is that we use the word nostalgia as a synonym for memory without the feelings attached to it necessarily, while saudade is that nostalgia with everything you feel about it, the good and the bad things. lol
@@save_bandit I know that but, as I said, here we use it referring to the feelings or not and also it can have different feelings attached to it, like in many cases it's just people saying that something old was cool at the time or that seeing something from their childhood/teens makes them feel old and that's it, without necessarily feeling saudade about it. That's the difference.
One time, the theme was musical, somebody dressed in all orange (even their skin), and they said when they were on the runway, "The cheeto musical"..they got first
THIS MIGHT HAVE BEEN ME??? If not, I did this exact same thing. I was actually trying to dress up as Garfield, but my game lagged horribly and it just started working like 15 seconds before it was time to show off the outfits. I said the cheeto thing as a joke and was genuinely surprise when I got first place.
I really, REALLY did not expect for such game to have any REAL hidden creepy lore AND especially intended by the devs. Kinda surprising how its still not super popular
I will always champion “scary” stories written by kids/teens. Stuff like this puts my in touch with my inner child man, it’s got that nostalgic charm. 12 year old me could never (but he sure wished he could)
Absolutely agree!!! I hope they take the criticism constructively and continue to hone their craft, obviously these kids/teens have incredible creative minds!
it’s been so interesting watching a new era of kids be introduced to arg horror as someone who grew up in the creepypasta era. kids never change, and i’m so impressed by the creators’ creativity, even if it can be a bit unpolished at times.
As a Brazilian the fact that you brought up the definition of the word saudade makes me really happy, I've seen someone else talk about this ARG and they never mention that
The fact Gigi is only 17 and one of the 3d modellers 14.. We love talent. Sad roblox takes a part of the profits but I hope they can use the money well, they have a future in game dev
Between the hair salon and makeup area you can see a messy shelf. Walk into it and you will find yourself in an underground area where the real Lana is locked up in a cage and a bunch of writing on the walls
A horror ARG that references Neon Genesis Evangelion in my silly girlypop Roblox dress up game where I put too much effort into my outfits and then I get mad at all the 10 year olds not getting the references that I am making with that outfit? It’s more likely than you think
as a non-roblox-player who just became aware of dress to impress thru a dan & phil video… the whiplash i’m getting learning there’s a whole ass horror arg in this cutesy lil game? i’m sorry a MEAT ROOM??
i have so much respect for the dti team :) executing a weird little horror story in a childrens game and not dialing back the horror or softening it. i hope this arg gets a new generation of kids hooked on horror and args
physically screamed when i saw this OH MY GOD IZZY GOES OVER THE DTI LORE?????? I'VE BEEN INTO THIS SINCE LAST MONTH OMG I BASICALLY KNOW ALMOST EVERYTHING 😭💔 dti obsessed rn
I like how Izzy is saying that some of the things are just their headcanon instead of it actually being the story because most youtubers who do videos like these usually say things like they are facts even their own interpretation
Nah, I bet Agamemnon just wants to dress up in pretty clothes, so he is trying to build a portal into the game. He also wants to slay in pink frilly miniskirts and high heels😔
I was literally playing dti the other day and accidentally ended up in the basement and I was so confused 💀 this vid came out at the perfect time honestly
And here I just thought the game was glitching because I have a janky rural internet connection This is why I can't be a protagonist in an EXE Creepypasta.
the copious amounts of references to madoka magica also implies some cosmic horror that lurks underneath a cute and girly exterior. im a little too old to have played roblox but i know that madoka is big with a younger demographic that likes femme horror media, so it definitely tracks
NOW I CAN FINALLY UNDERSTAND THE MELLY VUONG DTI ANIMATION 😭😭😭😭😭 all the comments were like "omg she knows the lana lore" but NO ONE EXPLAINED ANYTHING ABOUT IT
with the creature needing to be fed so it doesn't starve, maybe 'being fed' just refers to the monster using flesh for power? it's 'starving' could be not having enough power to turned on, or atleast be strong enough
Can I just point out that according to their profile, the creator of this game and ARG is a SIXTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL!? WHAT!?! I'm so happy to see not only young creators but young WOMEN creators out here making names for themselves. I'm not a roblox player, because I am almost 40 years old, but I am amazed with how much KIDS are able to make on that site. Absolutely astonishing.
Kids arent really making that much, they get a paltry amount while the big wigs behind Roblox rake in the dough. Its honestly disgusting and young kids should be spending their time in other games that dont exploit them for free labor
@@SamoyedSagas pretty sure they meant much how much content, not how much money. And while I have a lot of problems with roblox, players being able to make content is how sandbox games work. Minecraft is similar.
I actually like that its so convoluted with many unexplained bits of lore. It makes it feel more mysterious to me. I think its totally possible for the creators to expand on those in the future! Plus, it gives more room for fams to speculate and come up with theories. (Im also the kind of guy who just really loves that style of complicated storytelling though, so personal taste.) I think its totally possible we could get plot twists or new information revealed on the unexplained mysteries. Just because a character is dead, doesnt mean they cant have an impact on the story. I love stories that start out with a character dying and the reader being thrust into a confusing situation, only to find out the backstory of the deceased and have it slowly fall into place. Also, ideas about flesh robot: 1. Could be a machine with flesh as some of its parts. A gear is a gear whether its made of steel, iron, or wood. I can totally imagine a contraption that incorporates human tendons to control its movement and lumps of flesh as a protective outer casing. The big question is: Why did he choose this material over others, especially when its so costly to maintain? Perhaps he made the monster in order not to waste the excess parts of his victims, since the only part he himself seems to need is the soul. Maybe he needs so many souls, the flesh just kinda piled up and he was like "ok how can i use this... i know! flesh robot!" #resourcefulqueen 2. I can see a few ways having the monster as an ally would be advantageous to him. He might use it because it has more raw power than he currently possesses, or because it can allow him to operate in two separate places at once. Maybe the monster is another required part of the ritual he wants to undertake. Side note - was I the only one who kinda got trans vibes? The writing in the wall saying he wants to discard his body really reminded me of gender dysphoria. I wouldnt want that to ever be confirmed by the creators bc itd be super problematic, but as a trans person myself, I kind of feel seen by this headcanon.
I started playing this last night (I never played Roblox) because some high school students recommended it to me so I find hilarious that as soon as I play this you upload a video and I find out there's creepy lore in it. Makes it even more interesting lmao
You pronouncing Saudade as Saw-dad is the funniest thing in the world to me as a Brazilian. It took me for an absolute surprise I’m not judging you, it’s just funny. The way it’s pronounced is Sau-dah-dee
At one point during this I was expecting it to be that she was stealing people's body parts to replace hers because she's still sick. Which would be cool but this is neat too.
Theres also a secret room behind the nail techs supplies (inbetween the hair & makeup area) where the og nail tech is imprisioned and the dress w the scars was before
i’ve been so interested in this topic and tried to find a video explaining the whole lore but I could never find one that explained it in depth enough without confusing me. i’ve loved your videos for a while now, and seeing you post this has finally helped me understand the whole lore as you explained it very well and had constant recaps throughout! thank you :)
The idea of tying the judgement of Paris into a fashion contest where players are judged based on which one is "fairest" is lowkey the type of intertexuality that I love. And from a Roblox game no less!
This arg proves I wouldn’t survive in a horror movie because I have never noticed any Lana duplicates or any flesh room or any of this horror stuff lol
I never fully got the dti lana lore but now watching this it is giving old roblox myths. This story and stuff is exactly what old roblox myth groups used to do and I hope because of dti all that stuff will make a comeback it was so good
I’m not sure if this is related, but I think motoprincess’s username was based on a song from a TripleS. TripleS is a k-pop group one of the creators is a stan of. The song is about someone running away from their sadness with lyrics like “show me more clues of the future”, and “do you think about me too?” which I think hints at the person running away and going missing with the lead of someone else. It can also be interpreted as someone looking for someone, either looking for them, or even running away to find them. I think the story of Lana is based on this song, because it fits her story perfectly. It’s a bit of a reach, but it’s possible.
On the official discord, Gigi also said Dress To Impress was inspired by LE SSERAFIM’s song Eve, Psyche and the Bluebeard’s Wife from the lyric “Fearless, say yes, we don't dress to impress”
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS !!!! i have no interest in DTI (despite me liking fashion games lol) but i am SO curious about the ARG/lana lore. i've tried watching other videos but they weren't as cohesive or well-written as yours. PLEASEE keep doing these if you can!! i'm super excited and i hope you cover the upcoming update! thank you for combing through all of that confusing lore 🫡
I'm just imagining someone who just plays it for the dressup game, has no idea about the ARG, and then one day the nail salon worker gets replaced in the game and everyone loses their mind. XD
when they made that reference to FNaF i was just thinking "yeah that tracks." this ARG matches FNaF in its extremely convoluted storytelling and obscure easter eggs lol, makes total sense the creators of dti are fans of that series.
I imagined these kids who, years later, would type in the title of this game and learn about the lore, and for them it was just a typical dress-up game
Its so funny to me that the developer clearly wanted to put in all these elements to get people interested in the arg, only for so much of the playerbase to seemingly go "not interested, thanks, i just want to dress up"
The monster being turned on by remote could be because it is part machine part organic, one possibility is that the monster is used to eliminate those who get too close and could jeopardise the plan and possibly as a way to dispose of unneeded bodies too
