"this is why claude's the best" "claude sucks, dimitri is best lord" oh you poor poor souls, you insolent Fooles. they are both wonderful characters. think about how flayn would feel if she heard you saying such things. please do not make the pure fish girl sad, thank u
Ahahahaha no one talks about the Church route x'D I will say the one thing I DID enjoy about that route is the final battle. Talk about adrenaline rush. That was a wild time.
Considering Flayn was asleep/healing herself from the Battle at Tailteann for hundreds of years with Seteth keeping watch, he’d probably be more surprised it was only 5 years.
Noelle IMHO people thinks she’s shitty because they played the other routes before getting to know her so most non-BE fans just treat Edie as a boss that has lots of background canon rather than a FE lord.
I like Claude as a character but I gotta say it was SO much more powerful walking past corpses to find dimitri squatting in the corner talking to ghosts, than it was just seeing claude chillin there with some new facial hair.
Claude is just that much capable though. He basically didn't lose a single territory in a country divided in 2 and supposedly never lost a single battle unless Byleth joins a non-alliance side. Basically, him being there was just another day in the life of Claude
"YOU'RE ALIVE?!" "....are you hungry?" i m- i played BL first and GD second and so,,, i assumed all 3 routes would be so sad but no. claude just goes "oh!!! woke up from ur nap? lets get smth to eat"
I dont really mind it actually, we pretty knew the tone of the reunion scenes before the time skip. Claude even starts calling you a true friend one chapter before the time skip. I honestly was just happy to ses him alive and optimistic, but I also felt extremely sad for dimitri.
@@sothe0539 oh, i dont mind it either! i know claude's a pretty upbeat dude and i love him for it! i just assumed that after 5 years, everyone would be a lil depressed, so it kinda left me confused for a split second when i finally reached that part.
I played GD first and BL second and I was surprised Dimitri didn’t give me a catch-up on the political state of the world and instead just hit me with the state of his emotions
Edelgard: "I will fight to free the world from the goddess' vile grasp!" Dimitri: "How do I stop the ghosts of the dead from crying to me?" Claude: "yeet yeet bois welcome back to my *minecraft* lets play"
Dude, Claude's blasé attitude toward slaughtering a bunch of petty thieves is WAY more disturbing. At least Dimitri is struggling with a crippling psychotic disorder. Claude just doesn't give a flying fuck about life
I like to imagine they're talking to each other in this video, just having two wildly different conversations. Claude: So, you hungry? I've got food. Dimitri: I get it, you must be an imperial spy sent to murder me!! Claude: ...I'll take that as a yes.
Claude: "Dimitri, eat a snickers" Dimitri: "Why" Claude: "Cuz you get really edgy and start contemplating over your regret and existence when you're hungry..."
I started with the Deer, so speaking to my friends who were playing the other two was absolutely wild. Why is the stoner house so stable, I don't understand
Same! I started with Golden Deer while my friend started with edelgards route. Our reactions were completely different with the time skips. I was having a great time and she wasn't LOL
*Byleth disappears for 5 years* Claude: “Aye teach! Good to see you again! Didja enjoy your break?” Dimitri: “War... has changed. It’s no longer about nations, ideology, or ethnicity. It’s an endless series of proxy battles, fought by mercenaries and machines. War, and its consumption of life, has become a well-oiled machine. War has changed.”
Every night, I can feel my eye... The body I’ve lost... and the comrades I’ve lost... It won’t stop hurting, like they’re still there... You feel it too, don’t you?
In a stupid descion I decided to rotate between the routes after every chapter. The mood whiplash going between GD and BL was hilarious. Even just the Lonato chapter early on because BL is Ashe and Dimitri having a mental breakdown and then you switch to GD and it's just "Hey Teach, wasn't that sword super cool? :D"
Yeah. Like, with GD it's like 'Hey let's learn about the sword' In BL? ...wellllll holy fuck that was a WHIPLASH when I started BL as my second run lemme tell you
@@cjstanky In both GD and BL I have had Sylvain kill his brother lol. Well, actually idk for GD, 'cause I can't remember, but he was def my main unit in the battle as he was my only cavalry unit at that point.I mean I had like 5 in BL due to overgrinding and stuff in my second playthrough but still. I killed Sylvain's bro in 1 turn in BL it was awesome. Sylvain had the final hit. I do mean in the monster form of course, where it is thematicially appropriate for Sylvain to have tht kill lol. Also it took using all my units to get Sylvain that kill lol. Even though all my characters were like level 13 in a chapter intended for level 7s.
While the difference is funny. Claude lax attitude in this scene is actually huge for his character growth which gets glanced over because subtler compared to the two other lords. Claude pre-timeskip has a really hard time trusting Byleth and really sees him more as a tool to accomplish his goals than a friend. Claude assured of Byleth's return shows a great level of trust and is what really transitions Byleth from "Teach" to "My Friend" .
Well I think Claude's character development just doesn't feel as drastic as Edelgard or Dimitri's because you never truly see Claude at his worst and he doesn't ever tell you his "secrets". It just feels like Claude never really connects with the protagonist like Dimitri and Edelgard do, at least imo.
@@troyii435 it's not that byleth never sees his worst, it's just that byleth doesn't have to handle claude at his worst in the same way he handles the other lords. Also caude does reveal his goals, his secrets, and he starts to regard byleth as a true companion in the progress. He does connect with byleth, but he is capable to stand on his own without byleth. Claude doesn't have to be extremely emotionally dependant on byleth to connect with him. When they trust each other and they're willing to fight for the ideals they believe in together, that's more than enough.
Dimitri: *is literally going insane* Claude: Sup Teach! Ya hungry?? My poor, poor boy D: I've only done Blue Lions so this video gave me whiplash. And even though it's really sad, that editing--I cannot stop laughing.
That BL scene was POWERFUL. It was actually my favorite moment in the story. Claude (as much as I like him) is just kinda chillin there with some new facial hair like, sup
It just goes to show how far Dimitri falls after becoming a fugitive in GD and BL. Being cutoff from everyone has only allowed his insanity to foment and consume him entirely, to the point that he goes from thinking you're a ghost to a living person who is a spy to a person who will tag along to kill some thieving rats.
@@aintfalco7968 I totally agree! I did BL first and am now working on GD. Idk how the other two playthroughs are, but BL really hit me in the heartstrings with how hard it is to see Dimitri fall and be so sad and losing his grip... And then I got to Claude in this playthrough, and, okay, nbd, I guess. He's not even that surprised to see you, he's just like, right, let's go get some food and then kill some guys. Fighting the bandits doesn't even feel as desperate as the first time. It's not you two fighting for survival and being rescued by your friends. It's, eh, might as well fight these guys while we're here-- oh hey, former classmates, guess you're here too.
Honestly same, I've been saving GD for last so this was p funny but I do feel for Dimitri more than the other two just bc he's the first one I really got to know
Claude: "What do you want to eat?" Dimitri: "THE SOULS OF THE INNOCENT!" Byleth: "A bagle." Dimitri: "NOoooOooOOOooo!" Byleth: "Two bagles!" Byleth is Dimitris sanity, cant convince me otherwise.
To be honest, Claude is the only war general who doesnt go apeshit crazy if you dont choose their side in any route. Rhea, Dimitri and Edelgard all are super good people only if you choose their route
Let me explain. Dimitri is like the dad. Edleguard is like the mom You as Blyeth are the child But *Claude is like that one uncle who shows up to arguments with a big bag of popcorn.*
Claude: “Yo teach your back! Sweet! We can now set up the Minecraft Server again with the other Deer and have Lorenz get us some McDonalds!” Dimitri: *All around me are familiar faces, worn places...*
Haha- "I have something to ask of you;" "Claude has invited Flayn to his 'Minecraft server,' but... Edelgard keeps placing TNT in her house and... blowing it up... It's been half an hour, and Flayn hasn't stopped screaming. Please find Edelgard and convince her to stop this behavior immediately."
I played golden deer first and was like "oh cool this is super light hearted" and then I played blue Lions and was working on supporting Dimitri, got to the time skip, went "oh no"
@@maxrichards3881 You can still raise it to the next letter grade, however since you cant get more support before viewing the scene and you can't view scenes with him before chapter 18 you can't raise it above just one letter grade.
honestly people seem kinda weirded out by claude being all chill, but think about it. this guy must have been in some *major denial* for the past 5 years, absolutely *refusing* to believe byleth was dead and still hanging onto that thin hope his teach was still alive. and he was right. byleth came back. claude never lost faith in them returning, and just continued to wait patiently, remaining calm. i really like claude because his whole character arc is subtle, and it really does just feel like he's just welcoming byleth home. i love him, man.
Claude: "Hey, it's your turn to wash the dishes" Dimitri: " *I'll wash the walls red WITH HER BLOOD* " Claude: "Ok, but before that, wash the dishes and use soap this time"
YOOOO only 1st time Blue Lions can relate LMAO Dimitri out here hallucinating and being emo AF for 5 minutes I get to Claude and the man bought me lunch and is all smiles, I'm like suffering from culture shock
Bruh I did the reverse, Claude first then Dimitri. I was like "oh lawd Dimitri no" It actually kind of worked in the game's favor -- normally, after the first playthrough, things get a little duller, but Dimitri immediately made me super uneasy. Like in a good way.
Edelgard: “Religion bad, war good.” Dimitri: “I killed them all... not just the men, but the women and the children, too.” Claude: “Yo, teach, what do you want on your Big Mac?”
Felix Hugo Fraldarius As much as I would like to get angry over that part, I also highly doubt Claude would ask the professor what they want on their Big Mac
I think that encounter with Claude is really telling of how much trust he really has in Byleth. Dimitri fell into such a dark place, Edelgard was blinded by her ideals, and Claude was like "well, until Teach gets back, I gotta keep things moving".
Dimitri: rats in the wall, can’t you hear them? Vermin waiting to die like they deserve. Killed by a walking corpse that I’ve become Claude: .....................did everyone try the chicken? I thought the chicken was lovely
So we joked about Claude and McDonalds and now it has come full circle with Joe Zieja's all day breakfast at McDonald's ad. That is what Claude probably fed Byleth. lol
*Edelgard:* _"Oh my god, teacher, I missed you so, so, so much! Where have you been?"_ *Dimitri:* _"Teacher... I'm already a demon. Heaven's not my kind of place anyway."_ *Claude:* _"Oh, hey, wanna eat something? You must be hungry."_ So let me get this straight, Edelgard is shocked as any normal human being would be, Dimitri goes on an edgy rant and Claude acts like you've been away for 5 minutes instead of 5 fucking years.
Claude: YOU PICKED THE WRONG HOUSE FOOL... Byleth? AWWWWWWW MY *TEACH* Dimtri: I know only death and suffering and I intend to give it all to Edelgard and that is a threat.
Playing Blue Lions first and then watching Claude's reaction was like dying of thirst in a desert only to come across a water park with people playing in it.
I honestly love this contrast. In Verdant Wind, seeing Claude give you a warm welcome back after you have been unconscious with 5 years is heartwarming after all that happened with Edelgard declaring war, Rhea being defeated and captured, and Garreg Mach being in ruin. Meanwhile, in Azure Moon, seeing the once heroic and well-intentioned Dimitri completely broken and warped into a bloodthirsty monster with a desire for nothing but revenge on Edelgard is heartbreaking.
Edelgard: Oh my god??? You're alive??? Where have you BEEN ive been looking for you!!!!! Dimitri: I Was Born With Glass Bones And Paper Skin. Every Morning I Break My Legs, And Every Afternoon I Break M Claude: *would anyone like some stew. would anyone like some stew.*
Inside you there are two wolves. One takes you out for a meal during a reunion, the other confesses the war crimes he committed in Iraq and Syria in 2006 during the same reunion.
Claude: I 'm just so happy to see you. Dimitri: LIES LIES LIES! Nothing but lies and tricks of the Empire! I WILL KILL THEM ALL. Me: Edie. Your brother has lost his mind, Claude is still Claude though.
You know, I view it more as Dimitri just assuming that of course Byleth died because so many others have, but Claude just believed that Byleth would survive because he knows how strong they are and had faith in them
That and the story makes it very clear that Dimitri is mentally haunted by his dead loved ones (Hamlet style). So when you wake up from your nap he's basically like cool more trauma hallucinations, just stand next to the ghost of my dad, step mom, and friend for the trauma photo
I did the opposite I played BL first so Claude’s casual attitude was a total wtf moment for me. I still liked it but I was like weirded out if that makes sense
@@LittleMissZackyVee Yeah honestly same. I was like dude believes me? Forreal? Just like that? And we're just... waiting for the others to show up? Cool
@@b.3432 I was expecting more emotional turmoil cause that what I got with Dimitri and I was like...I probably should have expected this cause its *Claude* I really don't think this man is capable of being sad... lol
On my first playthrough, I used to joke that Claude is the type of person who would watch somebody crawl out of their grave and greet them with "hey man, you wanna get McDonald's?" And I just witnessed it happen.
Dimitri: **surrounded by corpses, talking to ghosts, going insane** "yOuRe NoT rEaL, gO aWaY, sToP hAunTiNg mE" Claude: **chillin and showing off his facial hair** "yooo teach welcome back!!! want sum mcdonald's or somthin????" Dimitri: "yOu MuSt bE hErE tO kIlL mE. I sMeLl bLoOd iN tHe AiR-- oH wAiT tHaT's JuSt mE" Claude: "uhh idk man, maybe if we just sit around for a while somethin will happen! Wanna try that??" Dimitri: "I yEaRn FoR tHe SwEeT rElEaSe oF dEaTh" Claude: "ayy nothin beats mcdonalds with the bois ammirite??" Dimitri: "I WiLl KiLl EvErYbOdY" Claude: "mmm maybe we should try doin jumping jacks or somethin?" this is why I love them
Seeing Claude after the timeskip, standing in the light grown up acting like nothing happen gave me the biggest smile I've had in a long time. Seeing Dimitri after the timeskip, sitting in the dark corner alone thinking you a ghost made me almost cry to see him so broken. Both amazing moments that makes multiple playthroughs actually worth it.
Dimitri: I am not your prince, I am naught but a walking corpse. The screams of the dead beg me to free them from their misery. Claude: yo teach wanna grab chipotle
Claude's the guy who showcases timelessness in friends that you stick with. Dimitri showcases how far one can change in friends you shouldn't have abandoned.
you see, i did golden deer first (cause best house), and now i'v done all the other routes and I'm cracking up because of how different the other runs are.
I did Edelgard's route first and was surprised how short it was. Don't understand why did didn't slap a shambala arc onto it. Golden deer best route though ♡
Not sure which is more of a polar opposite, these two or the two eagle routes. Edelgard's hysteria and fawning affection vs. seteth's "eh, we all take multi-year naps sometimes"
I want to give each of the lords one of these: Edelgard; The biggest hug I've ever given. Claude; A selfie of myself upside-down. Dimitri; An intensive therapy session.
I like them both. Claude is a complete person from beginning to end while Dimitri is about redemption. I can't say nothing about Edelgard because I still did not know how to do her line in story. I always end up with seiros.
Thiago Guilherme de Oliveira Rhea’s admitted that she created the crest-centric aristocracy, which is what Edelgard has a problem with. Also, her cooperation with TWSITD was necessary, as their leader has the empire under his heel. It’s not as obvious and up in your face as other plot points, but going against Thales first would be suicide.
Byleth: **returns** Claude: Heyyy Teach where ya been? I haven’t see you in ages, imma get some food wanna come with? Dimitri: ᴵ ᵂᴵᴸᴸ ᵀᴬᴷᴱ ᵀᴴᴬᵀ ᴮᴵᵀᶜᴴ ᴱᴰᴱᴸᴳᴬᴿᴰ 'ˢ ᴸᴵᶠᴱ ᴵ ᴾᴿᴼᴹᴵˢᴱ ᵞᴼᵁ ˢᵀᴼᴾ ᴴᴬᵁᴺᵀᴵᴺᴳ ᴹᴱ ᴾᴸᴱᴬˢᴱ
Me when I see Claude, has the face of a model, his life is all sorted out: I like that. Me at Post-timeskip Dimitri, in need of a shower, crazy, with an eyepatch, foam forming in his mouth: hmmm yes, you are... perfect, I choose you. *S support*
Sure Claude is much more stomachable right after the timeskip but Dimitri's growth as a character just makes me like him so much more. Beforehand he's more edgy than Felix.
