@@KobeCorona-uj3zb same wow! I'm 30 and doing the exact same thing except I'm buying them and then selling them to buy more of my dream cars till I sell them again for more
Had an 2005, 2010 and now a 2016 and the seats in the 05 are still the best. My dad still has an 05 and it is so comfortable still to this day with 125,000 on it.
Then something breaks…and it becomes the new ‘sitter’ for 2-6 months at the Wizard’s Garage&Self-Store. I think everyone knows how this story goes by now…
I've had to do fuel pump, all gaskets except rear main, knock sensor, MAF, plugs, wires, and coils in order to finally get mine to feel like a 6.0. Hope the previous owner of his did more maintenance than on my denali. None of it is the motor, but you can spend a lot of money even on a lower mileage one.
I often wonder what Leno does to keep and maintain his collection. They all need to be driven at least a couple times a year so I imagine he has to have people drive them for him at times. You can only spread out 24/7 so far and driving for all of them just isn't an option. LOL.
I remember being in High School and seeing these in all the rap videos. It was crazy seeing them in person especially in the pearl white color or in black. When you saw one with rims you knew that person was a baller. One time I was walking from my school to the bus stop to go home, and I saw a white EXT (which was my favorite with the truck bed in the back) in pearl white and it was on 24" spinners. Yes spinners were cool back then don't deny it. And 24s were huge at that time, this was before 26's even came out let alone 28's 30's 32's etc. I was so in love with it, and I wanted to see who was driving it but I had to get on the bus.Back then these were like seeing a Rolls Royce Cullinan.
@William Mulvaney and comfortable. If your out working in the fields and tending to livestock all day, when the only time you've got to relax is when your hauling the livestock to auction (or the slaughterhouse), would you rather do that in something that feels like your sitting on a brick in a little red wagon driving down the road or something that feels like your floating in air on a lazy-boy driving down the road?
You weren't the only one who had that thought. It was pretty cool to see how the trucks have changed in the intervening 15 years, and in many ways not for the better.
@@xtnuser5338 Automobiles are scams. H2 is a great vehicleI have personally seen a Hummer H2 go from a driveway to the bush in west Africa on bush taxi roads for three days and only thing that broke was a side rail step. But we bought used and it LASTED...over 3 countries and hundreds of thousands of miles. Don’t hate it too hard until you actually use it.
@@DouEditz I submit that if your H2 did the job, then so would any Chevy 3/4-ton 4x4 truck of the time. In other words...big whoop. You know dang good and well that the marketing effort was based on somehow linking H2s to the real HumVees. Trading on the great Hummer nickname to sell more Chevy truck chassis is a scam. And yeah...I've used one. Nothing wrong with them necessarily, but no way they're remotely related to a HumVee. I didn't say anything was wrong with them. I said they were a scam. Nothing wrong with diamond wedding rings or bottled water either, but they're scams.
The current Escalades have vibrators in the seats that tell you you're about to hit something? So THAT's why my wife gets into six accidents every year...
He has a tendency to overdo a joke. If he said it once I'd have like okay that was a little weird but he said it probably double-digit times. Got really annoying really quick. Same thing with whatever that Lincoln Mark whatever. If he did it once I would have probably chuckled but he does it every single time he references the car. It's no longer funny.
I remember when the 2nd gen Escalade came out, all I did was try to convince my parents to buy one. They ended up getting the suburban z71 instead because the Escalade esv hadn’t come out yet. Good times
@@alfredoibarra9825 I know the cylinder deactivation will fail, but if you check his video he actually recommended it, although the second gen is definitely more reliable. I’d see why you might want a third gen since they’re easier to find in nice condition and despite them having those uncomfortable seats, it still is a lot better than the Tahoe and the Yukon of its era in terms of comfort.
@@whatamisupposedtoputhere Everyone who gets in my 3rd gen has said how nice the seats are. I’m not sure where the uncomfortable seat things comes from.
The 2nd gen Escalade is still one of the greatest cadillacs ever made, it can still rival ANY of the 50s or 60s devils in looks and not only that it was offered with one of the greatest engines ever made. Also don't forget about the ext which was an Escalade pickup which is the coolest Escalade in my opinion
@@MrJMS814 idk man, you tell me a car they made that was more influential on culture and automotive design then this, plus those jet inspired fins (on the older devils) as a novelty kind of wear off after like 20 minutes.
@@froopty1854 I agree about the EXT such unique luxury but I always thought the Avalanche was cool! Someday soon hope to get one! Just can't wait too long before prices get ridiculous lol.
@@Daryl-S man you can still find these cheap in alot of places, hoovies videos do make some cars go up in value wayyy more then they should be but Escalades have stayed firm.
I work for my family’s salvage yard, we got in a very well taken care of, and surprisingly clean Escalade with 375k miles. Sold it for 1500, and as of a few months ago the new owner is still daily driving it. All it really needed was wheel bearings which he replaced. Ran perfect. 380k and counting...
Just bought one off Craigslist for $1,500 with 243k miles, a black 2004 Escalade ESV Platinum 6.0L (runs like new), unfortunately I live in the north (Detroit) so it has some rocker panel/rear wheel well rust, most was repaired/repainted poorly but still decent enough that I think I'll actually make a profit lol. Cool bit of rolling recent history... My heated/cooled cupholders don't work or even light up anymore though lol.
It is a brilliant business move.. Take a big, simple pickup truck, smother it in cheap leather and plastic chrome, then sell it for nearly Mercedes S Classe money.
@@shanet7511 yup this gen was fairly reliable other then the air suspension. But that's easily solved with coils... I always like this gen navigator more though.
@@IKhanNot the 03-04 had an intech that was indestructible. Don't know why they killed the intech and kept the triton (most likely cheaper to produce) but yeah it had less power. But the looks and especially interior killed it. An 03 navigator can still pass off as a 2010 truck on the inside. It was ahead of it's time
@@MLProductions.1 Yeah the 4.6 was a dog but bulletproof. At the time the new F150 came out and the 5.4 was a big deal in their higher trims so I guess Ford felt the 5.4 is the engine to have in the premium offerings from Ford and Lincoln.
I remember when these were everyone's dream car, seeing one was so exciting! its been a while since i've seen one in such good condition, very fun to see!
I was the operations manager at the company that made the first, second and third row seats at the time of this run. Started out with North American made motors for the seats, by year three, forced to change to China made seat motors by Caddy....40 percent fallout during production process, with a 25% life range compared to original. That was just the seats.... imagine what else changed during their run...
GM seems to be sliding back into the making a lump of some car to sell, that landed them in trouble 15 years back. Although I like Ford, they definitely one-upped them by killing the #3 selling sedan in their home market(Fusion). They don't seem to learn very well.
Lear Siegler ? I worked for a Canadian GM tier 1 supplier, everything made for GM/Ford and Chrysler is the bottom of the barrel longevity wise, as long as it looks cool in the showroom they dont care how long it lasts, its all about generating profit at the expense of customer longterm satisfaction .
Gonna complain cause manufacture of the seat motors changed to China, did everyone just forget that the first generation of those seats used to come off the seat rails in car accidents...
@@jordancapps9521 they killed all their sedans, not just the fusion, the taurus and the Fiesta bought it and I think only the electric focus is being made, they went to the stupid thing of the escape being the entry level, I like Ford and gm and I drive a fusion daily and while mine was the earlier 2011 model with the duratec 25 and its not fast its been the most reliable Ford I've ever owned, it's done 147 thousand at this point and the only thing ever to go wrong mechanically was a wheel bearing, but Ford also has some shit for build quality, while my fusion has no mechanical problems, the door handles are a joke and break all the time.
As a Cadillac fan and a mobile auto glass technician I LOVE that platform! It takes a (Domestic Windshield) DW 1549…fits the Escalade, Silverado, Sierra, Suburban, Yukon and all the other GMC/Chevy iterations of this body style all take the same glass and there all super easy!! I don’t know of a window/windshield job on that platform that takes mire than 20 min-half an hour except maybe The regulator because it’s riveted and not bolted…love love LOVE those trucks!!!
Thank you Tyler, I absolutely love seeing older cars in mint condition. It’s like seeing what these looked like when they came right off the factory line instead of a disheveled ones I see nowadays. It’s always a treat to watch your videos on these best condition cars.
and he wondered why his video has the most dislikes and he said i dont know why he prob thought it would be funny buts its not and am sure someone gave him the idea but then again its hoovie
Thats on damn near every GMT800 truck/suv out there lol. You cant tell unless you see the grills reflection or you have someone else put it in drive with the engine on.
I love how he called out automotive journalists for wanting massive SUVs to be ridiculously fast and able to corner and have superb handling. As he said, it’s a 7 or 8 passenger massive SUV, that’s meant for family hauling and towing. Why does it need 500hp and to be able to corner like it’s on rails? (pretty woman reference 😉)
@@aaronloyd2706 yeah but the person that buys a Escalade doesn’t get it for good gas mileage. They choose it bc it’s better then most other full size suvs.
@@Jason_Phillips3679 You are right, but you can't enjoy it if you can't drive it. There is a point where fuel get so high a gallon that your normal consumer will let it sit and drive something else.
Back when I was in high school my mother actually financed and paid off a 2007 Yukon Denali back when they did the redesign and she had the previous gen Tahoe before hand. When I got my liscense she past this down to me and I had this car until 4 years ago, it had 47k miles and 170k miles by the time I was done with college and I never had a single issue with the LQ9 Vortec, the only thing I ever replaced was the front motor mount and the rear suspension after towing a boat a 140k miles for 1400 miles. Even though I have a 2017 Jeep SRT & a 2017 S63 AMG now and I'd still get another Yukon/Escalade now.
I own one these gmt 800 yukon xl denalis with 400 thousand on its clock, built like a tank and smooth as butter, my grandparents gave it to me cause it was being used as their winter beater due to its awd, but I needed something a little bit better in the snow as my 91 Mercedes SD was kinda hopeless, they bought the Denali cause they said aside from some chrome it was the exact same as the escalade, which to be fair isn't wrong, dual DVD heated cooled seats the only thing I don't have is the cooled cup holder and that same 6.0 vortec which even with 400 thou still runs like the day it rolled out of the factory.
@@compzac I absolutely love these stories, but thats why I don't mind the Escalade being heavily based on the Tahoe platform because at least it's proven despite the lack of quality in some areas of the interior.
@@tdcenthusiast gm has always been a bit short on interior quality, but most of the time they tend to do well on the mechanicals, at this point in time I've got 4 vehicles my merc SD, the Denali, an 87 Sierra two door step side and a Pontiac Bonneville v8 which is my daily, my gm vehicles all tend to be quite solid my favorite is still the Denali cause it's handling so well despite its years and miles.
I just remember driving around Liberty City in 2008 with the Cavalcade, that with GTA IVs exaggerated physics, must have had foot high body roll in corners, yawing and pitching like a yacht in a storm.

@@demetri1651 It is. My mom had a 2002 model (identical to the one Bernie Mac had in his TV show). I remember replacing hers like 5 times within 2 years. The wiring was a bad designed due to the wires being separate pieces and pinched between the radiator and radiator support.
@@yamen857 shhhh the GM die hards May hear you. The center console of hers also had a weird coating that would rub off. That texture to the plastic was like rubberized.
Every time I see first and second gen escalades tracks start playing in my head... (This is how we do...I put lamborghini doors on the escalade....everytime i come around your city bling bling... Who run it... who run it...)
Love those trucks, basically a classy version of the Tahoe/Suburban….fairly inexpensive to repair, reliable, roomy. Car Wizard can fix that too when you’re ready, haha.
Same. Even though the ENTIRE 2000s tried to make me want one (Matrix 2 especially), it just comes down to the fact that it was a SHIT era for American cars. Sure, there were plenty of not-terrible cars mechanically but I sit in my '89 Buick Electra Park Avenue Ultra and then sit in a 2005 Park Avenue or Caddy and there's just no comparison. All across the board, interiors were cheaper than they needed to be and exterior design wasn't my jam either with cracking headlight lenses and non-pleasing exterior proportions. Meh.
my dad had a 2002 with 6.0 awd. he had it for a long time and he bought a 06 navigator but sold becuase its has a piece of shit 5.4 v8. the escalade destroyed the navigator back then

Hoovie when he got the suburban: the only other car that could be more desirable that’s newer would be the the Escalade that came after this gen Hoovie: I might have bought something
I really enjoy my '06 DTS too. Even though its FWD it still scratches that big-car itch.....fit finish and material quality was better than the previous gen and good mix of new usable convenience/comfort features...
