I love how you managed to link from clay tablets to modern computers without it seeming too jarring!

A wonderful overview. This video induces enticement to have a look at the bigger picture of where computer science has been and will be going.

Much better than one-man John Oliver show! More funny, too :)

If I were a genius, and had done some remarkable work on my own, with a huge lack of formal education, coming from a small country - I would gladly choose you to be the recipient of my letter on my stuff you would be amazed by. :D

Dave. How do you overlay your ppt and video with just the right amount of transparency.. Can you make a video on that or a wiki ?
@DaveAckley
@DaveAckley 3 года назад
There's a few tricks - maybe I'll make the 'metavideo' - but the key is (what kdenlive calls) the 'lighten' composition, which does a pixel-by-pixel max between two sources.

Thanks @@DaveAckley . So, the following steps sound ok? step-1) Record two videos (simultaneously). One using screen grab of ppt and the other by recording your face while speaking about the slides. Make sure both videos are at same FPS and Resolution. In both videos, keep a dark background and have only ppt content and face area with high brightness (wear dark clothes). step-2) I assume that both videos can't be of exactly same duration because of manually stopping the videos one after the other. So, align the starting frame of both videos and remove the extra frames in the longer video step-3) Until there are frames left in the two videos, starting at the first frame, select two "conjugate" pair of frames from the two videos and apply step-4. I am calling conjugate pair of frames as the frames which have the same index in the frame vectors (videos). step-4) create a new frame pixel-by-pixel, by taking max value from the pixels in "conjugate-pair" of frames selected in previous step. Append this new frame to the new video being created.

I haven't tried but I bet you can do a similar effect quite easily on OBS with 'Luma Key' filter.

@@Mycon thanks , what is OBS ?

kdenlive matches everything to the project resolution and fps, but yeah: (1) align the clips by hand, (2) Add a 'lighten' composition between the two tracks.

Fight, Fight -- emacs FORGET teco

I use emacs every day. But for legendary awesomeness -- hey, the first version of emacs was WRITTEN IN TECO (mic drop)

@@DaveAckley OMG - I didn't know that (and should have!). The first technical job I ever had was using TECO to write test scripts for digital circuit boards (yikes, that was a long time ago). Great video, Dave. /stan lee
