This is a bit of a different song to what I usually use, but once I realised that the lyrics fit this idea I had I couldn't stop myself, enjoy :) Socials: linktr.ee/Naum... Song: 'Apple' by The Narcissist Cookbook
Ahhh I have chills! This was such a great song choice and I loveee the idea of Aziraphale is the apple that won’t leave the tree since Crowley is who got humanity to leave Eden. This was really amazing
I love the way that this seems to be Crowley ranting/venting/explaining to Muriel that life on Earth is good, great even, and how it is worth saving because of everything that it has evolved into-as well as how he feels about Aziraphale and his actions, comparing them both to the apples that either fall and rot or stay stuck to the tree and never grow I also love the way that Muriel is realizing just how beautiful the world is. Like, they knew how fascinating it was before, but seeing and hearing it from Crowley is just-wow
I’m so glad you were able to see all that! I’d tried my best to weave all three of those ideas together in the story but I wasn’t sure if I’d managed it in a way that was clear and that worked
that was- I - holy shit. I love how so reassuring it is, just Crowley trying his best to show Aziraphale how things could be. How what he's most scared of can be this beautiful, messy, vibrant thing, but also taking care to tell him that he's still perfect and easy to love the way he is now.
I love those last few lines. Because being an angel is part of Aziraphale, it made him who he is, so it’s not a bad thing on its own. But it’s also hurt him in ways Aziraphale can’t see yet. Maybe heaven is supposed to be all good and hell all evil, but to Crowley it just doesn’t seem that way, because he knows how much happier Aziraphale the oils be if he could just get away from them
I feel like the entire show was based around this idea that maybe knowing good from evil isn’t bad, but also that maybe at their core humanity is good and worth saving, and this song just sums that up so so well, especially from Crowleys perspective
Why is this so perfect?! I’m speechless! I love it! The opening mirroring Good Omen’s “It was a nice day. All the days had been nice.” Aziraphale being the Apple that won’t fall.
I've loved The Narcissist Cookbook for a while, and this little blurb song of his has always reminded me of Crowley. It sounds like something Crowley would ramble about, and I am so glad someone else thought so. Thank you for this wonderful animatic
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! This song just seems to fit the whole show so well that once I realised I could make it work I had to draw the whole thing!
I'm honestly impressed. This song is such a fit for crowley and his relationship with aziraphale and humanity up to this point. Looking forward to see more of your stuff eventually, your theory videos are already so good!
Thank you so much!! Unfortunately I’m back to uni soon so I won’t be posting quite as often but I still hope to get a few more things done between now and december
This is just....I'm lost for words. This is bloody incredible. Like I can just hear Crowley rambling on about this Muriel, it suits him so well. And the animatic just....everything is just gorgeous. You did an amazing job!!!! :D
I have NEVER heard this audio but I. Was. Invested. Describes the angel and demon, and their relationship with humanity so, so well. Eerily perfect.... Love how you depict Crowley explaining it all to a mostly clueless but learning Muriel, as if this is how he tries to process his grief through teaching. I like to imagine this would take place some time after all the tears and misery, perhaps Muriel and the lesbian humans help prevent him from drowning himself in alcohol and longing, and instead are there as his friends to listen to what would essentially be 6000 years of bottled-up emotions. Brilliant!
Thanks so much!!! The first time I heard this audio I thought of Crowley, but it was only a couple weeks after season 2 that I realised I could make it work for an actual animatic like this, and I’m so glad I did!
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG IVE BEEN WAITING TO SEE THIS SONG ANIMATED AND I COULD NOT THINK OF ANY MORE PERFECT EXECUTION THIS IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. YOUR ART STYLE AND THE WAY YOU SHOW THEIR BODY LANGUAGE ABD HOW EVRYTHING FITS THE SONG AND ALL OF IT IS JUST- thanks. a lot actually. Edit: I’ve been reading the comments and everyone’s all like “I’ve never heard this audio before but it’s perfect” and I’m so used to always being the one to write that in the comments this is such a fun experience to be able to say I actually knew the audio first lol so that’s fun. rlly glad other people get to appreciate this thing that I’ve loved for ages :) (so if you want something by the narcissist cookbook with more of the talking-not-quite-singing stuff, check out “ghost stories,” and if you want something with good omens vibes “vs the heat death of the universe” is really growing on me and giving really big season 2 ep5 vibes personally)
Thank you so much!!! I’ve had this song knocking around in my head for ages now but I just couldn’t work out how to do it, then suddenly it clicked and I am so so glad it came together as well as it did! This song is so perfect for this show!
I like to imagine that among the ambiance, a nightingale is chirping and calling, maybe even singing. Maybe expressing it's longing and sorrow through woeful notes. :'0 poor snek
@@Naumaxia wOAH :OO thanks for the reply, honestly did not expect it!! And I agree, poor Muriel XD Maybe such monologuing will grow on them and then the two can monologue like evil villains, taunting angels of heaven keke
i was introduced to this song literally a month or so ago, so finding it today was an unexpected JOY. it's not what i pictured when i first listened to it with good omens in mind, but somehow it is even better. thank you.
I’m so glad you liked it!! It wasn’t what I thought of the first time I listened to it either, but season 2 wasn’t out back then and I feel like that changed up my whole perspective
holy fucking shit i am actually shaking and getting goosebumps from that climax w the guitar OH MY- this is my first time hearing this audio and now i have to check whatever it is out bc you are amazing and this video is amazing and this is one of my favorite good omens videos ive seen (ive been in this fandom this may 2019)
Wow thank you that means so much! And yeah this audio is a really cool song by the Narcissistic Cookbook. Their stuff is a little unusual with a lot more talking than singing some of the time, but this song fit so well I couldn’t resist
aaa i love this I've always imagined Crowley when listening to Apple because it's basically supposed to be him speaking anyway and I'm so glad other people thought this too!!
Because to have hope about something you kinda have to be a bit broken first? Also because Crowley and Aziraphale are impeccably written characters with so much hope and tragedy tangled up in them that it makes doing this almost too easy XD
@Naumaxia Definitely saving the first part for later. Gosh And yup. They're so complex, I don't think we'll ever be able to pinpoint their exact essence. Not with fanfics, nor headcanons. Doesn't make them any less fun tho
WOUUUUGH I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DO SOMETHING TO THIS SONG FOR AGES RAAAAAAAAAAAH I especially love the Aziraphale to the apple itself. Splendid, loved it!
OKAY SO this is perfect and amazing and incredible and OUGH the way you interpreted the song with Aziraphale as the Apple WOWOWOOWOW my jaw was dropped the entire time
I'd heard this song before and thought that it was PERFECT for Crowley, so imagine my surprise and delight when I found that someone animated it. This is beyond amazing!
Yes!!! Thank god someone thought to pair this song with Good Omens, started to worry I'd have to level up my drawing game and make one myself. Apple is one of my top Narcissist Cookbook songs, I've been dying to see someone do this!
The song choice, expressions and characters are all perfect. I will be thinking about this animation for a while, so thank you. It really sounds like something Crowley would do. Just perfect
Everyone has already said it in that comments and everyone in the comments is right, this is a beautiful (perfect?) song for Crowley and the symbolism is *just the right amount of good*
Thanks! I realised pretty early on that between Muriel, eve and Aziraphale I was essentially looking at three different stories and I had no idea when I uploaded if anyone else would be able to follow my train of thought on it XD
watched this yesterday, and i'm rewatching it today and - it's so good oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! will probably rewatch this tomorrow too. oh my god, it's just perfect
I am LOSING. MY MIND. YOUR VISION!!!! I just listened to the song on my own and went oh this needs an animatic. and i was looking for the song video on youtube and FOUND THIS INSTEAD!!!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME THIS IS INCREDIBLE!! YOUR FUCKING VISIONNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!! solar power, wind power.,,,,,,..,,, gh just . WOOWWWWWW. WOWWWW
EEEE thank you for making this! I'm floored by the way some of the scenes you chose to pair with the lyrics recontextualized those lyrics, or twisted them to be more positive or negative
HELLO???? WHY AM I FINDING THIS A MONTH LATE This masterpiece is now officially my favorite Good Omens animatic, yes, even before the Lover Boy and They're Only Humans ones (you know the ones) I love absolutely everything about this omg
Thank you so so much! Only Humans is an artistic masterpiece, so to be considered even in remotely the same category is probably the best compliment I have ever received! Thank you!
Found my favourite GO animatic EVER!!! This is a mazing, what a wonderful song/monologue! It fits Crowley perfectly, and your take on the symbolism + blending the many events of GO as an entire story (I feel some, myself included, tend to see the two seasons as seperate) is masterful. Good job! I will now spend several hours trying to learn this monologue by heart. Thank you for this
Thank you so much!!! I must admit I also feel the two seasons are quite separate but as I was making this I suddenly realised that crowley could describe his entire very complex ‘break up’ with Aziraphale using nearly exclusively scenes from the first season and suddenly it clicked just how seamlessly their character development carries across to this point. (I did of course still use a few season 2 pieces because there was some gorgeous stuff in the new season, but a lot of it is s1 and I’m so proud of how it turned out)
This.. this is most probably the most beautiful and philosophical thing i've ever watched about good omens and i really really appriciate it, wholesome work good job!🎉❤
Thank you so much!! I’ve wanted to make a good omens animatic to this song for a long time too, and I’m so glad I finally did it! Thank you again for your lovely comment!
I’ve been using ‘the real g pen’ on clip studio, but I would suggest any sort of hard edged textured pen as an alternative? I’ve never used procreate so don’t know. The shading is mostly just done with a hard round edged brush
The audio is actually a song called ‘Apple’ by The Narcissist Cookbook who makes all sorts of cool music and audio. But no I didn’t write it, i just chose the images to match
