The Edo Tensei is GENIUS, Here's Why... 

It's amazing how much popular and same time underrated Naruto series is, even most of fanbase misunderstand it

On that note about Sai, one thing I realised while watching one of your earlier vids, is that Sai's picturebook is actually a short version of the series itself: the two protagonists (Naruto and Sasuke) start-out opposite of eachother, and as they confront new and new foes they both start picking-up things from those foes (weapons in the picturebook, lessons about the world and themselves in the series), and when they meet in the end/middle they're able to understand eachother.

I was so Happy when Minato was brought back. This mean he would no longer be trapped in the Shinigami's stomach and could finally join Kushina and any other loved ones in the pure lands. I bet she was ecstatic to finally see him there.

The war arc is viewed as problematic by most which kinda makes people overlook the good in it

People usually say they don't like the edotensei lesser stories, like the Hanzou one, because they are unnecessary for the story, but i honestly really like the world building. Great video!

People tend to forget that unlike how in dragon ball, the wish revived so many characters at basically no consequences In naruto, people are revived as shells and tools, having regrets and unable to control themselves, only when they settle down with their regrets they move on and no reincarnation remained except for madara,who later on also regrets how he ended up Beauty at it's finest

It's funny how much Kishimoto loves pairs that Naruto as a series and one of it's heaviest inspirations, Dragon Ball, would be treated so similarly by the wider anime community. Both are treated, weirdly enough for how popular and successful the franchises are, as kind of like black sheep, popcorn series that are fun to consume, but aren't much more interesting than that and can't hold a candle to their contemporaries, like One Piece or MHA. However, both series are far more complex than they're given credit for and probably wouldn't have been nearly as popular as they are if there weren't something of substance to analyze. Sure, they may not be Cowboy Bebop or Ghost in the Shell levels of thematic complexity, but they also don't need to be. Now, obviously, I'd probably agree with most people that the War Arc is the most flawed of the series, with inconsistent pacing, insane leaps in power scaling, and a lot of interesting concepts that aren't as fleshed out as they could've been, but it's interesting how it's taken this long for channels like yours and Mathwiz's to actually come out and dare to treat the series with a modicum of respect, rather than be the whipping boy of the internet.

I have a new perspective on Hiruzen and Hagoromo now, thank you, i see there are more thematic links between those two beyond looking like similar old men.

One of the reasons why Naruto will always be the best piece of fiction ever created. All of the underlying narratives and lessons are simply one of a kind.

Hmm, I think, I never noticed that aspect. At least not fully. I realized it for a few cases, like Haku witnessing a side of Zabuza he showed Hake when the latter was already dead, the mentioned example if Gaara and his father, and a few more. I consider myself good in noticing and analyzing stuff like that. But you are clesrly on another level. Especially your video "PlagueofGripes is WRONG about Naruto" will always have a special place in my liked list, a comparably short one, with only masterpieces in it. I had been immersed in Naruto vor over a decade then, but still, it opened my eyes in some regard.

Man you're an absolute gem for the community! Hope this channel grows big! People need to see what makes this series so special.

Makes me realize, why jiraya was not brought back to life through edo tensei, coz he never had regrets! Even if he did had a small regret for not being able to save orochimaru, but in the end, he accepted his lack of actions and came to not regret anything in his life in the end and finally just accepted his life and himself as he was. Such a great and inspiring character! On a second thought, it can also be that even though he did feel sad and a little regretful as to him making the wrong decision of choosing nagato as his disciple or thinking of him as a child of prophecy, he knew in the end he made the right choice by choosing or rather believing in naruto, making him his student and also perhaps thinking that he could be the child of prophecy who will change the world. And as a result, he died without regrets in the end! I think he lived his life to the fullest somehow and fulfilled his life purpose. Thus, not having any regrets.

Even though the war arc drags on for me, those character interactions were some of the best parts.

I love the fact you brought up the concept of pairs in the video , that it is present from the beginnig , all the way to the war arc, sai and his brother , kakshi and obito , jiraiya and orichimaru , danzi and hiruzen , madara and hashirama , and Naruto and sasuke. The sun and the moon parallel its forshadowed from the beginnig. I find it crazy that people , when they learned about naruto that is a reincarnation of ashura it doesn’t make sense but it was obivous from the start. We also see naruto’s similarities in other characters like nagato , obito , iruka. Critisism from casuals that war arc is garbage or naruto’s character is hypocrite clearly missed the point. Keep up with the quality essays , we need more videos like this for the community.

i mantain that world building should be done to enrich the story not to parade its corpses like glorified zombies. Also people being able to get closure by communing with the death feels too unrelatable. Normal people cant do that, they have to live with that regret or convice themselves that their lost one knew that they love them.

Good video but i can't quite agree that this was done well in the story. Really like the idea of the edo tensei, but none of them lived up to the expectations that we were given. When you revive 5 akatsuki members, you're given the expectation we'd have 5 battles on the same level as when they were alive. None of their fights lived up to the standard that they'd previously establised. Same can be said for the rest of the edo tensei. With someone like Hanzo, you'd expect a sannin level fight. We didn't get anything like that. Some might say it's not about the fights, it's the story that matters. I'd say yes and no. Before the war, we had both amazing fights and an amazing story. The fights in Naruto plays a huge role in the story, they aren't seperate things. Also these small encounters felt more like a rushed check-list of things that Kishimoto wanted to get over with. There wasn't much reason to be invested in them. You could've just skip to the kage vs Madara fight and you wouldn't feel like you'd missed out on anything. These battles didn't feel like they mattered in the grand scheme of things. No one we knew died or was fatally injured, until we get to the main antagonists. The problem really starts way before the war arc, in the beginning of Shippuden. There wasn't much of a foundation for the world building. What i mean is, there'd be much more reason to be invested in the alliance. If we had seen more of the other nations before the kage summit arc. If we had learned to know the characters earlier and had more history with them. One example is when the Mizukage talks about how much Chojuro has grown. We have absolutely no context for that or any connection to these characters. If we had met them much earlier and gotten to know them, this would've been much more compelling. Same with Mifune and Hanzo. Again, we don't have any reason to care about this either. The samurai conflict wasn't something we'd ever explored enough, to warrant this battle. I could give many other examples. It's really the world building and the lack of relevance for other characters, that's the biggest issue with the war arc. Well that and the war tactics as well as the fights just aren't well done.
