Chana is not high protein food. It has adequate carbs and protein. But the carbs portion is why bodybuilder don't take chana. Whey is simpler protein which doesn't have much carbs in it leading to less calories intake. Please know your science.

He is talking about stress for organs, whey increases your heart rate and sugar levels, for long term is not good. Energy drinks are worst and other supplements for pre workout is too much stress for organs!! Have enough sleep if you don’t have then workout accordingly to your sleep and fiber is must and protein. I eat 2-3 tablespoons of rice(cooked) , tarkari with no allu and some meat or eggs.

I think Sukadev is forgetting how abundant carbohydrates are in Nepali diet. Carbohydrates encompass around 80% of an average Nepalis diet. Also the formation of muscle fibres are not instantaneous as Sukadev says. It takes a lot of time for our body to absorb the whey and make muscle fibers. So, you can take whey independently and the overload of carbs from "dal-bhat" will be more than enough to aid in the muscle building process. Nepali (and South asian) diet in general is very very heavy on carbs, hence we see majority of people being in the "skinny-fat" category, which means they have pot bellies and thin arms. For us south asians, whey protein is a great addition to our diet, be it independently or with any other carb source. Also, whey protein is nothing but the protein extracted from milk, so if you can digest milk, you should have no problem digesting whey protein. And it doesn't affect your kidneys.

Everything is harmful if taken in lethal doses. If you consume more protein than your body needs it can lead to kindney failure and certain health haphazards. I would recommend to have a healthy balanced diets for eg 40%protein, 40%carbs and 20%fats. Point to be noted: Know your healthy fats and carbs.
