I could, but I am choosing not to. I don't like using for sex, which means I'll only do it for the prospect of a potential partner, which is also something I don't really want right now. I don't really want much of anything for that matter. I'm so preoccupied with work, paying bills, trying to stay afloat, the hostile modern climate with regard to current affairs, that it's just not top of mind. Maybe one day, but not now.

How do you counter this? I recently lost my virginity to a girl who is interested in me, and I am interested in her. So I am dating her but I feel exactly what you described. The insecurity and the overthinking is definitely there and she is out with friends on the weekends. She is busy so she doesnt always answer my snaps but I always assume like "OH shit she is losing interest" and if I even mention it then it will actually happen because she will realize that I am overthinking and insecure about it. I don't think you can get depressed from not having sex. Perhaps social isolation (further leading to no sex) but not sex alone being the reason. Sex isn't all that fancy once you've done it and won't solve preexisting issues.

Hookups are fun, but I usually regret them. I'm not built for casual flings and I've learned that the hard way over they years. Positive correlation doesn't mean the actual causality is described. In this example a positive correlation between the amount of sex and life satisfaction can be explained by either "more sex results in a higher life satisfaction" , "a higher life satisfaction leads to more sex" or a completely different mechanism linked to both. Perhaps wealth increasing both life satisfaction, by reducing existential worries, and increasing the amount of sex by allowing for a more peacocky mating behaviour or a less stressful overall life. All we can say from a positive correlation is: "individuals with a ranking of higher life satisfaction also report having more frequent sex". Just to get scientific terms right. That's incredibly important to do, if one aspires to do fair and correct science communication. It's analogous to how us scientists use the word "theory" to describe a working and proven explanation, while the regular vocabulary lists it as what we scientists would refer to as a hypothesis. Mixing them up creates distrust in science.

Im in a very good relationship with who is probably my soulmate, and i love that man more than anything. I honestly feel like I should be studied because of how many of these points hit me. Throughout my nearly two years of relationship, ive been SA'd over 20 times (not by my lover, dont worry) and sexual exploration with someone male, the same sex as my abuser, helped greatly with coping. Having someone listen to you, discuss boundaries, and really, really care during something so intimate really helps when dealing with the complete opposite. It helped with stress, depression, suicide ideation, it even pushed me away from an extremely bad selfharm addiction. Im very, very lucky to be in the relationship i am in, and to have sex as a coping resource.

sometimes when we have s** with my bf i feel like i'm an object and i'm getting used for his own pleasure, even tho he never did anything to make me think that. sometimes i just feel like it's the truth so it hurts so much i cry. i know this is a symptom of a trauma or sa but none of this happened, i "lost my virginity" with my current bf, we were both consenting everything went well, and is going well, but sometimes I can't help but feel like he's abusing me. even tho he's not. my mental health is not the best and i'm still suffering with severe social anxiety (i'm doing better than 2 years ago though), and sometimes in the same way, i believe everyone hates me and judges me and laughs at me. i believe they see me as a subhuman. so i saw myself as a subhuman. i've internalized this thought and normalized it since middle school (i was thinking i have less value than everyone else and that was a fact, not a thought). as i said, i'm doing better now but things like these keep occuring and sometimes i just cry so much i can't breathe. i had one good year in my life, it was 2023 because i was given meds (antidepressants), now it came back so i just wanna understand what's wrong with me. i just wanna enjoy life like anyone else and also have s** with my bf without seeing him as a disgusting thirsty weird man (once again he's not, he always asks me frequently if i'm ok, if i'm enjoying, if there's something I'd want to do etc, he's literally perfect i'm ruining myself with my own thoughts who covince me again again that i am trash and i am getting what i deserve: r@p3. what do i do. ps: most of the times like 14 out of 15 times i enjoy and everything is ok!! but just a tiny little amount of times my thoughts take control and i just want it to stop.

Be glad that you born as a women. Im a man who also have social anxiety and low confidence like you. And the moment my crushes realise I have these qualities they always lose attraction. I think you should express this to him, if he is for you he will have some empathy, to try understand you, you may need to consider therapy to help steer your thoughts in a better direction, they will eventually swallow you up and it will get worst. It's ok to not be ok. You are not alone. And never be afraid or think yourself less when you feel unsure or confused, nobody out here has it all figured out. Also I had to learn this action between you and a loved one, it differs based on many factors. But do it for you, if you can't be a better version of yourself you will keep trying to please others first and that is no way to live. I hope this sparks something for you and sending positive vibes your way. Talk to a counselor or look up therapy or call a holiness for any healthy suggestions.

For those who have healthy sex and love making, good for you. I’d say enjoy it and please be safe. I’m in a relationship and we no longer have sex or make love. I guess my sexual life is over. At first I felt very self conscious and sometimes depressed that I might not be sexually appealing to my boyfriend anymore, but I understand it now. I don’t blame him at all. And looking at the bigger picture, it’s better to have a companionship than nothing at all. eventually everyone stops having sex anyways and some stop prematurely, but it is what it is. We can always find other ways to connect and try to be intimate.

You know I definitely believe this and right now it’s just unfortunate that my boyfriend and I live two hours away from each other. We’re on completely different schedules. He’s a first shifter. I’m a third shifter so we only see each other every other weekend because he’s on call sometimes he has to stay in his city, so we definitely don’t have sex as much as we want to, but we do make the best of it when we can have it.

I been abused to this to exact reason as a child and on top of that trauma I have a mental disorder which inclutes me being a autistic person. I fear sex because of those reasons and even hate people for it, not in a way like I hate everyone but only I hate them if anyone does it in my surroundings like at night of me trying to sleep is the best way of me fearing the person who did that and hate them at the same time. it causes me to feel scared and emotions in mentally and pchysicly, like feeling cold all of the sudden that my blankets don't help me feel warm, my heart beating so much that I can feel it that my chest moves and even having hard time standing on my feet. I just hope someone could understand how much I'm going trough with a lot of mental issues in my life

I'm not gonna share names, but a close friend of mine discussed their previous relationship with me. I was thrilled that they'd open up to me, but the story that followed wasn't all that happy. From what I could gather, the two of them had been in a pretty serious 2-year relationship, and even went as far as doing the deed at the beginning of high school (still too young in my book), but what got to me the most, was how the dis ribbed their first time. If I'm being honest, it didn't sound like my friend concented or even wanted it to happen yet, yet it became a regular thing up until they broke up. Sure, this thing happened a long time ago, but I'm really hoping that my friend is okay with having gone through all that. I keep thinking if there was no way to stop the other person before it got that far, but alas, there's no way I could tell. I don't wanna pry more information out of my friend, since it does seem to make them a little uncomfortable talking about it, even if they were the ones who shared it in the first place. Any advice?

I don’t know if anybody else has experienced this, but I’ve attempted sex stuff with a partner a decent number of times and it’s pretty much never gone very well. So far it’s just destroyed my confidence and not sure if I’m particularly willing to try anything else with a partner again.
