I feel like the Hornsent calling Marika a traitor have the same vibe as Southern slave-owner calling the slaves who escaped from them, and helped the union overthrow the confederacy traitors. I don't think it's her ever having any sort of good standing and using it to deceive, and more of a "how dare she even consider trying to escape her allotted purpose?!"

If you look at ALL of the regular Marika statues in the Shadow, they've all been decapitated, as if someone tried to deface them. But, also, her palms are pointed upward, as in anticipation and hope, receiving. In the main lands, after, the palms are all pointed down - atonement, sacrifice, giving. Marika is so fascinating because she ultimately understood her failing.

Another neat detail is that the one statue that has a head still on shows that Marika has two braids in her hair All her regular statues in the Lands Between show that she only has one braid

@@Italianchef26 that’s awesome. Because, with the detail of Marika’s statues in the Land of Shadow, now we know the very last moment Marika was directly in the Land of Shadow. Marika’s final visit to the Land of Shadow was after bathing the absent Shaman Village with her golden light. It is there where she made the offering to the Grand mother, before departing the Lands - never to return again. A really powerful moment for Marika’s character. It shows where everything went downhill from, when she entered the Lands Between to project her traumatic suffering onto others.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who cried a little with St. Trina. As with pretty much all Souls characters, bittersweet ending is the best we can have. Idk how Fromsoft does it, but I always feel so sad about beating these characters (even after about 100 attempts, holy hell, that final dlc boss was insane 😂)

What's even more fucked up about Miquella is that he's still a child. Since he's several hundred years old, I was expecting them to go with Miquella being a grown man trapped in a child body. But no, when you hear him talk or learn what his plan was, it become clear that he still has the mind of child. Miquella is just a kid trying to fix his mother's mistakes and make the world a "more gentle place". Which makes everything that he did and was done to him so much more fucked up.

"The act, though undoubtedly painful, will sear clean the Erdtree's wanton sin." Yeah, those are the words of the mind of a child. I'm pretty sure nothing in the game or his dialogue suggests he has the mind of a child, it's always said he was cursed with youth or cursed to be a child. If his mind didn't grow then his ideas couldn't grow, and if his ideas couldn't grow then he wouldn't have had the ambition that led to his whole quest.

@@Ultimaniacx4 He's acting and talking like a child though. Mind controlling everyone to keep them happy is childish. Making the world a more "gentle place" is a childish phrasing. St Trina clearly sees him as a child. Finally, him having the mind of a child doesn't prevent him from developing new ideas... You know children think about stuff too.

@@sleepyfork5250 Again, the dialogue that Ansbach relays clearly is not the words of a child. Such complex speech beside a hopeful ideal doesn't make someone a child. Trina's dialogue doesn't "clearly" imply anything about his mental maturity. You could apply the same thing Trina says to anyone. "Make Marika stop. Don't turn the poor thing into a god." Yes, children think of stuff and have new ideas. And because of that, they grow and develop. In your mind, what does having the mind of a child mean? That they're just immature or naïve? Anyone can be that then, you don't need a curse for it. "Thiolier is cursed with the mind of a child because of his stubbornness over Trina" "Boc is cursed with the mind of a child because all it takes to cheer him up is calling him beautiful like his mom." Just pointing out naivety isn't enough evidence to claim this.

Oh, oh, the conept of something being hidden at the heart of the Lands Between was speculated about for a looong time. The conspicuous cloud at the center of the world map is one thing, that part of it is literally dead in the center of the Divine Towers crossing each other is another :D You can overlay the maps between the main game and the DLC based on the Suppressing Pillar being at the center of the Towers and they make very much sense.

9:30 the realm of shadows was a thing written by GRRM that wasn't implemented in the base game. there are no references to a "realm of shadow", but we know other dimensions exist thanks to the helphen's steeple sword. the description mentions a realm of death where the "black steeple of the helphen" guides the dead. this, along with other death rituals that predate the erdtree, imply a multitude of overlapping afterlives. turns out, no, they all lead to the scadutree and the realm of shadow.

I think Marika suffered the "potting". I think every other attempt to create a saint failed before her. She became a figure of worship and power within Hornsent society because of it and with her newfound power she conspired to achieve godhood and take revenge. The Hornsent created their own destruction while trying to create the divine. A common theme in fromsoft games.

I still think it would make more sense for Godwyn to be Miquella's Promised Lord in his Age of Compassion. We know Radahn has a soft spot for certain groups and individuals, but Godwyn literally ended the war against the Ancient Dragons by _befriending them_ and folding the Dragon Cult into the Golden Order. And since his death was the catalyst for the Shattering, it makes much more sense for Miquella to start planning to revive him during it (as we *literally saw was happening* in Castle Sol) rather than make an elaborate plot to kill and revive Radahn later

I am of the belief that you are correct, as it was likely the original plan, up until the Night of The Black Knives happened. After all, the words "Lord Brother." are used on the Golden Epitaph, pleading for a true death.

Godwyn's soul died when the night of the black knives happened. I'm not sure if there's any way of coming back when you're killed by destined death.

@@makez1909 Precisely. Though there is evidence that he tried with the Eclipse Ritual (the whole thing at castle Sol), but it failed. Some speculate it failed because of Radahn holding the stars.

It MIGHT have been the original idea - initially, Godwyn was the ONLY one Miquella called "lord brother", and he still uses that title when referring to Radahn.

Yeah, as everyone else said, Godwyn was most likely the original plan. But due to his untimely death that early in the timeline by something designed to bring about true death at that, he was truly gone for good. Which actually could be part of the reason why Radahn was chosen instead, as Miquella wishes for a powerful consort who would not fall easily to assassination. Radahn fit the bill, as not even Malenia managed to kill him even with the Scarlet Rot.
