the ending of the DLC wasn't "Lackluster". It was melancholic, and gave me a feeling of emptiness, and I think that somber feeling was completely intentional. I feel like a lot of people are under the assumption the DLC takes place after the base game, but I'm fairly certain nothing in the game happens canonically after the Elden Beast fight, you get cutscene and credits, and then you go back to before the last fight for gameplay reasons, but that is THE end. this happens before you finish the game, it isn't meant to be a new ending, just closure for miquella as well as a new environment to explore the lore of other characters. One of the most exciting moments when I played the game was finding Shaman Village for the first time, it was so empty and sad, and the implications it made for Marika's story got the lore nerd in me freaking out. I still very much hope we get something more in this universe, I still want to know so much more that isn't explained, but that isn't a negative on the game. I don't see how me loving it so much I want more could be a bad thing, especially when I have already gotten over 450 hours of game for $60, before the dlc.

That said, the endings of most FS are a pretty weak point and it's particularly true in ER. The concept is there, but there's just not the proper payout. I think really only the full Frenzied Flame ending is well done. The throne endings are pretty bad. It's like a change in camera filter. Feels like they should all get a "usurpation of fire" type of scene added to those. You know, like a first Star Wars sort of ending. In other words... I'm not really ever expecting much from them. And as you say, it's not really and ending but a sidequest of sorts.
@chimeron260
@chimeron260 2 месяца назад
@@redfish337 I feel like the ending of the game, as was said in the video too, is that the boss is the ending more so than the resolution of any lore threads. The story is your characters story. I think the frenzied flame, and Ranni’s endings are the coolest, but I was more than satisfied sitting on the throne my first playthrough. The whole lead up too Radahn in the DLC felt epic, and the fight just before that really made it feel like the big battle at the end was awesome. Also The story in the DLC was really something, the band if characters and their individual ties to the world and miquella was interesting and easier to follow than a lot of the base games quests, and even though I missed summoning Thiollier in for the last boss taking down the last two big fights with Andbach was 👨‍🍳😘 I know a lot of people don’t like using the summons, but I love the character summons, they make the fights feel elevated on a story level when it’s someone important.

The only compliant I can somewhat understand is people being disappointed that the last boss is someone they have fought before. But these are the people who, in my opinion, don’t appreciate or follow the lore. One of the things me and my friends talked about when the game came out is how cool it would have been to “fight Radahn in his prime.” And I feel we got to do that here.

It makes absolutely no sense in the context of the game how Miquella managed to not only hold onto Radahn's soul after we kill him, but further how in the hell he managed to change MOHG'S BODY to resemble Radahn in his prime.....especially since they have nothing in common aside from maybe Radagon/Marika parentage. NOTHING in the game's lore indicates such a thing is possible other than the Secret Rite Scroll but even that is pretty dodgy from a lore enthusiast's perspective. It just...comes out of nowhere.
@joejones8776

@@RudockAviar It makes perfect sense. There is a whole side quest you can do to discover it was taking place before the boss fight even occurs. My biggest gripe has to be that lots of the loot you found, especially in hidden hard-too-reach areas were just, cookbooks, literally had 1 item each cookbook unlike base game ones that could have up to 5 recipes. What i imagined happened was that they ran out of ideas for loot in said areas and started to individualise the cookbooks, i swear some of these recipes could be bundled. Also, why is there only 1 infusable new weapon for each new weapon class with 2 other sombre weapons making a grand total of 3 weapons per new weapon class. Instead of cutting up the cookbooks, they should have invested more time into making more weapons and weapon designs and AOW for the new classes. However, this could have been due to rushed development, so I'll give them that

Fromsoft games have mechanics that evolve. An analogy I can come up for people like Feeble, Joseph, and Demod is with martial arts (i am by no means an expert, just a hobbyist trying not to get fat). Think of gameplay in DS3 as Boxing, Bloodborne as Kickboxing, and Elden Ring as Muay Thai. Many of the core fundamentals are the same in all 3 fighting styles, but there are differences. Boxing is fists only, kickboxing is fists and feet and MT is fists, feet, shins, knees, elbows and clinch. These people are fighting against muay thai using just boxing/kickboxing rules. It is certainly doable (and you absolutely can have success if you are highly skilled) as the fundamentals have overlap, but you are more likely to have a hard time. A lot of these people who complain about ER difficulty, you observe them NOT using all the tools in their kit, sticking to one rigid style and being as inflexible as possible. No shit you are gonna have a hard time. Elden Ring has insane variety and flexibility with mechanics, just wish people have a more open mind

TL.DR: The flaws are quite real, backed with average counts/%. Also, padding/filler isn't real content. I 100% this game, every single playthrough. I do mean it. I do torrentless, step by step, the entire map. Collect everything, kill everything, true 100%. I have 1 profile and a half full of characters in this exact playstyle. Now, let's make something really, reaaally clear: Low to Mid grade level materials, and crafting materials, are NOT content, specially when they are almost entirely worthless, in the post game, also, blessings are a once per character thing, because they carry through ng+ cycles, so they become useless after exactly 1 playthrough. Ok? ok. Considering that, The hinterlands, both finger ruins, the area surrounding manus metyr, the chalice, the cerulean cost+charo's grave+the fissure, the abyss, and to a lesser degree, the jagged peak, all have around a dozen and a half pieces of equipable loot/skills/spells, which on itself, is diluted by build requirements, so, realistically, even less than that per-character. I just named around 60% of the dlc. Also, ''the experience is it's own reward'' in completely empty areas isn't a valid argument in an RPG of all things. The loot and encounters are what make the game. This is not a cinematic driven game. You may want to justify all of that for ''cinematic/lore reasons'', but the base game does both things way better, and rewarding the player should never come 2nd to exposition. ''It's not just a fighting game'', correct. But it's mainly a ''Kill X, get Y'' game. When that comes as a 2nd priority, for an extended portion of an area or DLC, that's an issue. In terms of difficulty, it's very subjective. Most of it is well done, if a bit over the top at times (they are starting to lean more and more towards ''taking chances/uptime away from the player'' for difficulty, which may come as ''artificial'' for some). Radahn is it's own topic, but to make it short: 3 bugged attacks, 5 AI breakes, 4 easily executable, if even, 1 possibly unintentional instakill, present for more than a month, recycled moves and ost, and lore being disconnected from it's base game counterpart, and sustained solely on ''Miquella screwed everyone up, and their input in the matter is meaningless'' + 20 to 40 fps drops on phase 2 on anything except higher end setups. To say it's one of the best fights, and lore, they ever did...when we have Artorias, Gael, Fume Knight, Ludwig, etc...Ok, you do you. The dlc is artistically beautiful, the side dungeons improved a LOT in terms of design and connectivity, the ludo narrative is fantastic for the most part, the few new mechanics are really fun, and the balance makes sense, again, for the most part. It's not bad. Is it as good as the base game? Sorry, but no. Very close tho. And that's an issue. Every single FS dlc in history has been a HUGE, even, disproportionate upgrade compared to the base game. Bottom line, they hugely improved the base experience and polished everything the base game did. The critique is justified. But most people don't back it up with numbers or %, nor coherent reasons, so it comes out as hate. I will continue to completely disregard DLC defenders building arguments on ''I liked it'' or ''If you didn't like it, maybe try X'' or ''you don't get it'' when the factual issue is transparently clear. The critique was also valid for the base game, and except for the very, very few issues they solved since launch, it still holds today, because the dlc didn't solve a single issue beyond Torrent on Elden Beast and menuing QoL. The real villain of the story are From Soft White knights. I say this as a 20 years FromSoft fan (I'm 30). Good video tho, and I'm glad you enjoyed the experience. But the worst thing you can do for something you love, is ignore it's flaws, and defend them. You want what you love to improve, otherwise, it's just obsession. The ''Elden Ring is a 10/10'' or ''What a perfect game'' speech, ignoring every single abundantly clear flaw it has, comes from the stupid high highs it gets, and fanatism, boosted by how the gaming industry has been constantly underdelivering for the past few years.

Small list of things the base game did poorly that the dlc could and should have fixed, and everyone in the fandom is well aware of: -No multiplayer rewards -No collosseum rewards -Arenas being more than flat terrain -6 player limit outside of the arena -Arbitrary fogwalls that got so bad a good portion of the community went to modding just to enjoy the game -Enemy AI bugs -Enemy physics bugs -Exploits beyond the recently fixed Chainsaw -no omni-shop, a feature that was somewhat there since Dark souls 1 (All ammo, grasses and resins at least) -no omni-shop workaround featuring at least a ''all crafting materials'' shop -way too many run-limited or impossibly hard to farm crafting material drops that are actually necessary for ammo, greases, meat, bombs and perfumes. -Abysmal optimization on a good portion of the game. -''AFK'' farming spots -Phantom bloody finger looping spawn points and not being proximity based -fogwall/boss invasions -terribly input buffering -some input delay To add salt to the wound: most From Soft dlcs solved most of these issues from their respective base games, if they presented them in the first place.

Counterpoint for the barren maps. Every single significant location within the base game had items (weapons, shield, armor) that defined the area. Even the shunning grounds (which was nothing more than a massive attempt at convincing you to go frenzy) had atleast one item in there and its the fingerprint shield which added to its memorability. In the DLC you have the 3 fingerprint ruins that have nothing despite its large size, Jagged Peak that had nothing in there despite the massive buildup and the useless ancient dragon boss, St. Trina's area is largely empty and the Abyssal Woods. The Gravesite Plain and areas around it did great with its scattering of items and weapons but after that, weapons and armor end up becoming sparce. Instead of finding a balance, Fromsoft backpedalled so hard that they have LESS items for the other parts of the map. It shouldn't have been problematic to make more variations of the DLC weapon classes since they are sparce as hell to begin with and put them there. The only one that got diversity was the damn perfumer bottles.

I had incredible expectations given that I have 5-6k hours in DS3. Prior to ER, it was by far my favourite game and one that I almost exclusively played. I can se HOW MUCH they improved EVERYTHING about the combat, build variety etc. And, I'm not one of those people that never used weapon arts in DS3 and complained that everything is R1 spam. I appreciated the added combat complexity then, and I sure do now. And yes, SotE improves on the main game in many ways.

A lot of the YT “critiques” are nothing of the kind. They are barely engage with the mechanics because summons, shields, sorceries, incantations, consumable buffs, and talisman boosting are all on an imaginary taboo list. If you play a straight strength build and refuse to use any of the tools in the game to pump up your damage you deserve to be stuck on Consort Radahn for days at a time. The game drops dozens of new weapons and consumables and talismans and they are all intended to be used. A 2022 game with a 2024 DLC should not play like Dark Souls. If you play ER with a rigid mentality you will suffer. The game is basically screaming at you to try new things, if you refuse to attempt a large portion of the game than how valid is that person’s critique?

Love the game to death, even making my own series on it as we speak. I've finished the DLC too, and while I do have some criticisms, they're minor to put a ... shadow over the overall experience. See what I did there? My main complaint is something that for some reason nobody else ever talks about. I intentionally went into the DLC before Farum Azula, because I wanted to see what Gideon and other remaining Roundtable NPCs would tell about it as I explore it. Well... you can imagine my disappointment when I bring Metyr's soul to Enia and she just doesn't react. Or when I tell Gideon about everything Miquella has been up to and... he's silent. Eh. I know we're meant to go into DLC in the very end, but the option to do it early is there.

The issue with godwyn being the consort, is that Miquellas eclipse fails to bring back godwyns soul. I believe godwyn still has a mind locked in that dead fish body but it was an impossibility to make him a consort. I still feel we will get more Elden ring content in the future.
@caketality
@caketality 2 месяца назад
I feel like there were actually quite a lot of hints that Radahn was going to be Miquella’s consort, but since there wasn’t any text to indicate they were close it didn’t stand out until the DLC. Like an example is that we find a crypt in Caelid surrounded by lilies and containing Trina’s Sword. We find both Miquella and Trina’s lilies everywhere but the sheer concentration in that spot is hard to shake. We know Radahn emulated both previous Lords but it was always just perceived as him looking up to them, not wanting to actually become one of them. The fact Miquella wanted to grant Godwyn a true death had other potential motives. Most likely it was just that he wanted to do something kind, Godwyn’s body being alive while his soul is dead means that he’s essentially stuck in limbo. Based on how wide the spread of Deathblight is he could have just wanted to fix it by removing the source. It was a reasonable conclusion to think that Miquella and Godwyn were closer to each other, but nothing ever explicitly shows Godwyn was even considered for consort. If anyone has solid evidence that Godwyn was more important to Miquella than Radahn I’m all ears! It just seems like Godwyn was the ending some people wanted, Radahn was the ending they got, and they’re unhappy about that. It’s valid to dislike the ending but the one we got makes just as much sense, if not more.

@@mmyr8ado.360 tbf even with Castle Sol and an entire DLC Radahn is still a surprise to people. :P Like most anything in Elden Ring the timelines are so long and vague it could certainly have been that Godwyn was Miquella’s original choice, but the problem is that in the context of the base game and the DLC everything about Radahn fits his role as consort. It was a surprising twist, but a logical one. I’m not all that fussed if people think Godwyn would have made more sense based on vibes, but vibes are the only reason I’m seeing as to why Godwyn would have ever been consort. It would have been a *cool* ending, it’s just not one there are any breadcrumbs even after we go all the way through Fia’s quest line. Godwyn is still just a spooky fishboy when we leave Deeproot Depths.

I found the DLC content feeling empty at times, although that is just because the map was a bit twisty, which gave an impression that something awesome or some kind of loot might be around every corner. But that’s just been trained into me from dark souls. I’m used to being teased by white sparkling lights, and I missed that teasing. I wanted more teasing, even if that teasing has devious or obvious traps. I guess the teasing, allowed us to give ourselves permission to stop and observe, which also went hand in hand with appreciating awesome sightseeing. Thankfully, looking back on the DLC, playing it a second time, and third time, I was able to change how I moved through the map, less concerned about finding loot and was appreciating the crafting material loot drops and spots with awesome sights more. My eyes were also set a bit higher off the ground, while riding a horse. I could appreciate the scenery in those moments too. Elden ring is not empty, but you can trick yourself into thinking that, when you are used to dark souls level design, and are getting your expectations mixed up with those games. The Elden ring game and dark souls 3 DLC felt slightly similar at times, creating unintentional mixed feelings/false impressions/unrealistic expectations/unfulfilled promises we feel were made by the game, to us in where the loot would be situated. Elden ring fills the many spots and spaces where you’d expect heaps of loot or enemy bosses or mini bosses or mobs, with fantastic scenery that is also meant to contribute to the lore. I loved that. Some places appear to be crafted to allow lots of movement with less impediments, meaning mostly empty spaces except for the lore it creates, because there IS a giant mini boss in the area, and the game wants to give you opportunities for sniping it, avoiding it, luring it, etc, if you don’t prefer melee combat.

Okay so I will say that the map being emptier than the base game is something I dislike. First of, saying that people complained about the map in the base game being so packed full, then FromSoft did less and now that is wrong, too, would be a valid complaint. However then you say that people complained about there being so much copy-paste stuff everywhere. These two aren't the same. If I complain about copy pasted enemies and bosses everywhere, I am not complaining that there is stuff there, but about how the stuff that is there is something I have seen a million times already! But that doesn't mean I want there to be less stuff, it means that I want there to be stuff that I haven't seen yet! And the part that makes this so bad is that they make that exact mistake again! Two tree sentinels, a fallingstar beast, at least three tree spirits, every boss on Jagged Peak (Bayle excluded), they copied the Dancing Lion into Rauh so another copied remembrance that's just great isn't it?! They learned nothing. People didn't want there to be less. They wanted there to be less copy paste. Less reskins. So no, they didn't listen to what people wanted. They made the exact same mistake again!
@ApeEscaped
@ApeEscaped 2 месяца назад
The finger ruins may serve a lore purpose, but other than that, they are empty. Such a big area of some crafting items and an annoying gravity slug. Only leads to the boss. Jagged peaks is completely empty after Bayle and are extremely linear as well. Abyssal woods is very open, very interesting, and very empty, besides Midra's mansion. That's what I talk about when I say the DLC is empty, Those parts are. Hell, even the Ruins of Rauh, would love more exploration there. It seemed like there would be, but instead, there's a big ol plateau that's inaccessible, and after the second dancing lion, a bird man just chilling by himself, wierd. It's not that areas are empty, just not used well, though that's the same issue with Normal Radahn, and I guess new one too. Old Radahn has a huge area that does actually have a dungeon in it, so that's a cool use, but new Radahn just kinda leaves a memory of what miq said, and that's it, no resolution really, the path to godhood infront of you, and you cant reach it cause no stairs. I just found it lame there was so much build-up for Bayle, Midra, and Metyr, and their areas are just completely barren, they feel more like set pieces rather than an area to explore.

Nope sorry boring ass empty spaces everywhere using lore as an excuse is bs. Where do we find lore in this game? We read descriptions in items, yes, and in the initial areas up to Messmer's castle, were all pretty good content. But when we get up on our beloved horse and explore the adjacent areas, it's like we received a product that wasn't finished yet. A ride of 50 minutes until we get to Bayle, NOT A SINGLE ITEM OR CONSUMABLE IN THE GROUND, but astonishing visuals and good design all the time. When we discover Marika's village, we know she lived there, but the whole place has a single talisman. Did you see how long you had to ride to get do st trina? How many items did you find during this time, to read its discription, to know where were you going? Was it realy an item in "every corner" like you said? I think this and the performance (wich I did not experience) were the problems. Just because its my favorite game, and I have 800h played, that I will ignore it's flaws. Ngl, this just sounds like fanboyism. U can love the dlc but that doesn't mean there aren't valid criticisms. My criticisms: The fragments r ok but they present the same problem with the base game: U can become too strong before certain bosses. Some of the lore and story is disappointing. I hate Radahn's new lore. I just dislike the idea that Radahn of all people is mind controlled regardless of y Miquella chose him. I also hate that there's no lore at all on Melina or gloam Eyed Queen. Questions that everybody wanted answered. Miquella and St Trina were completely wasted. They should've had their own questlines. You'd think all the build up for Miquella, you'd actually get to interact with him but no, he just became another predictable bad guy who's only a boss fight. Some of the bosses r way too aggressive and it's not fun. Gaius, Putrescent Knight and Radahn specifically. Radahn has some bs attacks and the light show and hair r too much in phase 2. Entire areas with nothing of value in them. Finger Ruins, Scaduview, Base of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, Abyssal Woods and Cerulean Coast. The Cerulean coast is the most disappointing given how beautiful it is. "Atmosphere" is not an argument. That alone isn't a reason for me to explore those areas. U can have atmosphere without making areas empty. The only area that's fine with being empty is the Shaman Village cos of its significance.

And the final boss took me 3 days to beat, absolutely ruthless, probably the hardest fight i’ve done in any videogame, but my god did it feel good when it was over. Soloed every boss, explored pretty much every single area, got almost all items, and I used no guides all the way (except for a few tips for the final boss). I have never had more fun learning a boss. Everyone just needs to go into bosses with the intention of not beating it. Coming to that realization made dying constantly so much easier to deal with. And quite honestly, maybe outside of mogdahn, I think the dlc bosses are some of the most fun in the game. And I 100% agree that this is definitely comparative to Old Hunters. Maria was the first soulsborn boss I wanted to perfect. She has been my favorite boss since BB came out, followed by blackflame freide. Relanna and Messmer fight have given me that same feeling. The only barren areas where the finger ruins. But the implications and what they meant made it a ok so i didnt mind. My only complaints are item placement. For example, the scarlet rot area before the daint of the bud boss arena has a lot of scarlet rot buds lying around; which makes sense; but then you find a chest under the staircase and whats inside of it? A scarlet bud? Why? Same thing happened in one of the ruin forges with smithing stones. Youve got a cool throwing hammer just lying on the floor and the ancient civilization who made the place put a smithing stone 5 in a chest.... And another point is a lot of the rune items where pointless. Its end game, why am i finding broken runes that are worth like 500 runes? But other than that, i don't really have any complaints. Thought it was mostly perfect and i love all the new lore implications, especially consort radahn. People are just mad that the final boss wasn't godwyn, which they should have known because miyazaki said the dlc wouldn't affect any of the endings.

in response to the ringed city ending, there is some resolution there at the end, you talk to the painter and get an answer about what awaits after that painting is done, yea it is up to us to interpret what that world will be, but there is a clear resolution as opposed to shadow of the erdtree. It feels more empty in a way the ending for this dlc.

I like Shadow of the Erdtree. Just a bit disappointed about the low sorcery count (especially Vs Incantations) and how there are several spells used by NPCs that could easily have been turned into fully functional, very fun to use sorceries. Sorcerers did not eat too well in the DLC (gears, talismans, etc considered), but it isn't a total bust either. A bit meh is all. Especially with the bug infestations, some of the more promising new spells are still dealing with.

I feel the game is brilliant from beginning to end, dlc included. My only problems are thus, the dlc final boss was too focused on difficulty in its mechanical design & that there isn't more content for the new weapon types. I expected the difficulty jump for the dlc and feel it wasn't too harsh short of earlier gripe about final boss. Overall I'd say thats a glowing recommendation in comparison to the quality of most games we see now. Hell I'd say its stellar even when looking back at what I would call the prime of gaming around the early 2000s.

Just the vocal minority and Breath of the Wild fangirls. The biggest hate was the quantity vs quality of bosses which I think was also overblown. The game has both, scaled up copy and pasted enemies given names and unique, hand crafted bouts. To be fair, these games are often rage inducing and that will illicit harsh criticism, unjust or not.

The combos are absolutely insane In a good way it’s so satisfying when you get them down and find all the punish windows and there are many when you start to really look no matter what weapon you use cause as you said everything is tuned to get a R1 off and sometimes a fully charged R2 even for colossal weapons. And as I was saying it’s just so good when you get a perfect dodge off it’s as it they really wanna defeat you and no matter what they throw out eventually you’ll have it ingrained into memory. I think the same man. But one thing that I could add to criticize this dlc is about that rushing move from commander Gaius. The most basic way to dodge it is to roll towards it at the very last moment and I think that doesn't make much sence. Also, I tryed to shoot it with a spell before rolling and, during the rush, it passed throw him and he couldn't be hit. It's pretty bs move because I think it doesn't make sence the boss becomes invulnerable during this move, like it's just a damm rush. The rest I agree with everything. It was an amazing dlc.

From what I've seen most of them are from people that played this game like Dark souls because they view it as dark souls 4 which might be the fault of the whole "its just open world dark souls" and not learning how to play the game. I'm playing through this DLC right now and I'm loving it and might be one of my favorites fromsoft DLC maybe even my favorite. I also think its people who kept thinking they were the best at these games and nonstop bragged about it but then Elden ring showed them that they werent actually good at these games along with not using items or spells and just trying to be a try hard and getting upset because they are making the game harder for themselves but don't realize that. I think we all agree the solution is Shadow of The Erdtree chapter 2 lol Honestly though I think a lot of the more outlandish criticisms come from people playing the game out of FOMO, even if it's not something they would normally pick up. Then those people complain online, see other people in their same situation, and then assume their opinion MUST be correct. I saw it with Bloodborne, saw it with Sekiro. Fromsoft's philosophy and approach towards games is vastly different from AAA game devs, and honestly From games are a bit of a "culture shock" if you're not used to them. So a lot of these people come in expecting a AAA game experience and are met with something else entirely. Doesn't help that videogame journalism is kind of a joke and won't hesitate to publish a lot of these opinions as fact.

Like all games or expansions, there are legitimate criticisms. I do believe that the empty areas criticism does have some level of credibility. The most prominent example is Charo's Hidden Grave and the Finger Ruins (to an extent). I'm less bothered with the Finger Ruins due to the lore reasons which is also why I have no problem with Shaman Village (anyone hating on that area for being "empty" just doesn't get it). The DLC has also proven once again that Fromsoft simply doesn't know how to balance things. A lot of spells and incants are useless and many weapons/wepaon arts are undertuned. There's also a lack of weapon variety in the sense that we didn't get many weapons for each new weapon classes which was a bit disappointing in my view. That being said though, the whole difficulty/boss design being unfair is total bs. People want instant gratification now for some reason. It's like they've played BB, DS3 and base game Elden Ring and then think they're entitled to blitz through everything again. The no attack/healing windows argument is getting tiring now and despite all efforts to debunk them they're still somehow prevalent. I guess we should thank Joseph Anderson and Demod for that. Hopefully more people can see through these garbage arguments and I think many are as seen with Demod and FeebleKing's "critique"

This game is far from anything resembling a masterpiece.... the fact I'm 480 hours playtime and likely even more hours watching RU-vid lore videos to try and understand and I STILL have a vague idea of anything concrete in this story. I think I can understand why others love it so much but the love for this game borders on cultish with some people. On the other end some people who have never touched it will fight to the death about how bad it is. Elden Ring brings out two very different extremes almost like Marika and Radagon (haha I'm so clever.) Not relevant to the topic but thank you to everyone that helps absolute morons that can't " get good " like me to enjoy Elden Ring. You're the backbone of the game to some people 👍

The only things I would change about the game is making the quest lines more intuitive and more cut scenes explaining lore. The lore is so epic and deserves it. Like after beating Rahdan and Miquella. I feel like there should have been a huge lore drop at the end of the game. I like environmental story telling but when you sink 140-160 hours into the game I should have a greater idea what the fucks actually going on without having to read item descriptions and puzzling together every minute detail of the environment. Either way I think it’s one of, if not the best game created.

My issue with the feeling of an "Empty" zone is that with such a large map to explore entering those zones feels like a punishment and waste of time to explore outside of enjoying the scenery or lore immersion. The frenzy zone that chases torrent off is my example with a few enemies that no longer respawn after getting killed by parry. There's a church and the Boss castle and that's about it. I was hoping for an intense frenzy filled area considering how creepy the zone is. And before people attack me I still enjoyed the hell out of this DLC.

Sometimes, i still think, what if, (we left Malenia ALIVE), after Miquella's Rune was broken, could we have SAVED her, somehow! IF not, maybe turn her into Spirit Ash, and Summon her, for the Final Boss fight! I even have, in my head, how that dialogue could have gone! Here's part of it! Malenia: (to Miquella)' You already know what happens with BETRAYAL and the Scarlet Rot!' (proceeds to make Caelid, look like a JOKE!) (going Nuke for Nuke, against her own brother!) (leaving US untouched!) (still Malenia)' That THING, is NOT RADAHN!' 'Nor is it MOHG!' 'You will SUFFER, the TRUE Goddess of Rot!' (Becomes PRIME MALENIA!) IF we were able to save her, or, as a One-time only Summon, she would be the most powerful, and TERRIFYING Spirit Ash, of all time! Personally I love that in the base game, many boss attacks was delayed, so you got used to that, then when they Released Shadow of the Erdtree, they switched it up a bit, to keep you on your toes. Like the times when you check with the camera around a corner for an enemy, and there is none, then there is a little corner just 2 steps futher away, and around that corner there is an enemy jumping you. FromSoft knows their core playerbase and what we have learned through the Souls series and then continues to takes us by surprise, cause they knew that We thought we have figured out how their games work.. But they continue to challenge and impress us, every time they release a new game. I think every boss in the DLC is well balanced with the exception of the very last boss. Just like in the base ER game, the solution to the issue is, that you gotta explore the world thoroughly, if you're stuck and unable to beat a challenge. You'll find new tools and literal stat boosts in the DLC, that can make the games much easier! Also, stop being stuck up with the way you want to play. Use all the tools. Use spirit summons, use consumables. Use the NPC summons, that you unlocked, because you followed their quest chain. Personally I think SotE is a step up in terms of game quality in comparison to the base game. And this is insane to spell out, considering how high I value the base game already. It's got even better game balance for PvE (thanks to the scadu tree buff), it's got less repetitive content and a much denser world (the whole thing feels like one huge legacy dungeon, that branches off into more legacy dungeons, it's insane!). And I think they managed to improve NPC quest designs in SotE in comparison to the base game. Because in SotE I managed to complete a bunch of those quests naturally, without reading guides, etc. I know I may have not taken the best decisions, but that is how it should be. Now I have content to explore in NG+ or on an other character. I think it's a loud minority, who's crying. Just as always. Considering the base game still sits at 92% positive on steam. SotE sits fairly low, currently and reading through the negative comments, most of them seem to hate on the bosses being too hard. Maybe this will change over time, when guides are out and people understand how to fight the bosses. (or realize, it may be worth it to explore and pick up the scadu buffs)

Hey man if you want my humble opinion shadow of the erdtree is the best part of the best game ever made, my brain is constantly trying to understand all the mysteries of the world in background since the dlc dropped and I’m not gonna stop until I pieced all together

I’m completely on board with what you’re saying, some will say I’m glazing but I whole heartedly agree with you

DLC is amazing I just wish I would have been NG1 instead of 7 and would have experienced it closer to the base game release.

Totally get you! I had a feeling it would be like that so I started a new playthrough for the dlc!

i just wanna say I really like your videos. I don't always agree with everything you say, in fact I disagree quite often. but I can hear the great passion you have for your beliefs when you say them. you state what you believe in a very earnest, straightforward and simple way, which I find very endearing. your voice is very easy to listen to as well. for this video, I agreed with basically everything you said. I have no problem with fair criticism of fromsoft's games, but far too many people have been slagging off the DLC without realising that the things they are complaining about are the same as things they loved about previous fromsoft DLCs. despite the flaws of SOTE (or any of the fromsoft games), they really are some of the best games being made at the moment, so it really annoys me seeing people just slagging them off without acknowledging just how great they are.

Thank you so much! And I really appreciate that, I'd hate for the channel to be an echo chamber!!! I've been told a lot my voice is not easy to listen to so thats a relief! Agreed! It just feels like sometimes people complain for the sake of complaining!

Shadow of The Erdtree was amazing! I just wished we had more Godwyn or at least a bossfight with that monstrosity. Definitely in my top fave FromSoft DLCs, though not surpassing The Old Hunters DLC which i thought was perfect all around.

It really was!! I do get where you’re coming from, but I think the horror of Godwyn is that he’s FULLY gone mentally, idk I feel it would take away from the horror!

@@theemeraldgecko310 im with u on that, i just wanted to see that on display lol. Like this creature is Godwyn's body but clearly not him in there. That makes for an interesting moveset.

That’s actually a really good point? A boss devoid of logic would be awesome!
