The Elder Scrolls: Bloodmoon Review (with Tomb of the Snow Prince mod) 

This channel is propably the only place where you can see such a high quality content concerning such a niche subjects.

I think the reason Carnius wants the colony to fail is so he doesn't have to spend any more time on Solsteim.

A fun easter egg in Bloodmoon is a fortune teller on the island who will tell you about upcoming main quests however if you've already completed Morrowind and its expansions she'll instead talk about the Oblivion crisis.

"If you're not familiar with Morrowind modding you might think this an extremely arrogant thing to say" I do actually recall the days where people got all huffy when one said that a Morrowind mod did a better job than Bethesda. Nowadays it's just an accepted fact, but back in the day, them was fighting words.

In a slightly more modern financial environment, there'd have been an easy guess for what Carnius was doing - secretly selling short on the shares of the Raven Rock division of the East Empire Company, then setting out to sabotage the colony to crash the share price, thus netting himself a good profit at the expense of the EEC. Problem is of course that while shares are a thing at the time of Morrowind, there's no indication as complicated financial instruments as selling short do.

I actually really liked Bloodmoon. I remember being kind of disappointed in the lack of new gear compared to Tribunal, but the fact that there's this big landmass to explore with new dungeons, and new high level enemies, was great. At the time I had an amulet of waterwalk I used all the time, and the lack of civilization meant that the river running through Solstheim served as a great highway, free from Riekling attacks. And the Beowulf mead hall at the lake was a nice stopover point. Back when you bought these games in the store you also got a nice, paper map with them, which also really sparked the imagination. The Morrowind maps had great art, aside from being functional. Also, I believe the guy is trying to make the colony fail so he can go home, as he's basically been promoted away.

Your channel is probably the only time RU-vid stuffing random content into my recommended feed for weeks on end that's resulted in a subscribe. Absolutely love the reviews, can't wait for more.

I think this is the third or fourth time I've watched through these Morrowind videos since I discovered your channel. Something about your presentation and narration style is incredibly charming, and I love Morrowind. I can't stop watching.

Iirc the Nord at 5:40 in fact has nothing to do with nature and is a mercenary hired by Carnius and if you side with Carnius, you'll see him again and will do some dirty jobs together. The teleportation is probably a cheap trick like intervention scroll.

you're right about bloodmoon being the most bland content in morrowind, but i must say that i personally loved the quest where you have to find the standing stones and complete their quests, it neetly explains some lore about the skaal and it helps you understand their culture

Yeah, the East Empire Company is the only interesting thing about Bloodmoon, which is a real shame. There was a lot of potential on many parts of it, but it really feels like they weren’t given much time to put it together. I even actually kind of like Tribunal. Bloodmoon is just meh. Also, I think Carnius wants to basically embezzle money from the colony, though he’s really just bad at everything. I wish his path was a bit more complicated, but he’s the worse choice in every way, and just a jerk too. There’s no motivation to try it out really.

My main memory of Bloodmoon was being "softlocked" into an unwinnable fistfight, and then later a bunch of overpowered spriggans trying to destroy Raven Rock that proved too tough to kill without significant cheese. I did enjoy being a Werewolf however, the way it worked in Morrowind was infinitely more fun than Skyrim since you could run lightning fast, leap over trees and all kinds of stuff. It being on a very short timer and not being that much faster or stronger than regular fighters in Skyrim really just sucked all the fun out. Which is generally how I feel about everything in Skyrim "Mechanically, everything has all the fun sucked out of it" Not that Morrowind was that great in gameplay terms, but the jank and freedom to do some serious cheesing added a lot of charm and replayability that just never quite hit the same way in Skyrim.

Bloodmoon is a fond childhood memory for me, definitely the better of the two expansions, the thought of seeing a mining outpost expand because of my work on the island was exciting, now I've seen this mod I'm going to try it out again

10:57 I think Carnius wanted to focus the colony in the mining operations, like forcing the miners to work all day and so on. Opposing Falco's ideas of building a prosper and comfortable home to their workers, all that private houses, tavern and tender surely costs something in the Company's budget. Also Carnius was probably being pressured by all that "investors" they keep talking about, though he really goes the extra mile by hiring bandits and assassins to kill Falco and "recover" the mines. 5:36 If it's solved peacefully he just leaves by foot. I remember see him crying about the vengeance of nature and I was hoping that he was right, that in the future some weird Skaal Nature god comes by to destroy the mines, but it never happened anything, it was disappointing :S Maybe the Spriggans of the later quest are the whole big revenge he was preaching about? Tho' that came from something totally different, the workers deforesting the sacred woods or something like that Thanks to the review I get why ppl don't like Bloodmoon, personally I kinda enjoy it all, but because I started the series with Skyrim (Solstheim dlc and all) and I played each past game with a sort of weird nostalgic vibe and conformist fanboy feeling. Don't really being an objective critic of Morrowind, Daggerfall or Oblivion. In that sense, I had to ask: what's wrong with Tribunal? I like the idea of being all played in the same city, it was somewhat bland and small but it was much better than, say, Dragon Age 2 at least, and like the design of that colorful continental-dunmer city, the whole "MOURNHOLD, CITY OF LIGHT, CITY OF MAGIC" is still graven in my brains. It was also disappointing that they build up all that "Temple vs King" tension and there were never a real final battle or big "Helseth-poisoner/Almalexia intrigue" conspiracy to end it all, the whole issue resolved itself and Helseth just ended up winning by pure luck. Despite all that I find it entertaining af, but I'm just biased

I really like Bloodmoon, it’s just more interesting then Tribunal, at least to me. Also Playing Dragonborn first then Bloodmoon makes me enjoy it more.

Bloodmoon is my favorite expansion of any game with dragon age origins awakening but I'd go with Bloodmoon in the end.

What ruined bloodmoon for me was the music. It just felt inappropriate in that climate so I just shanked some witches and found that ring the simp from Ald'rhun wanted. The crashed airship was kind of cool I guess. Randomly finding Uncle Sweetshare's shack made the trip worth it I never realized that meme video man was an actual character from the game lol. Anyway stay in Vvardenfel kids

Bloodmoon was just cursed with the "Its Okay" feel. I have beaten Morrowind and Tribunal, when I got to Bloodmoon I was steamrolling everything and I got bored quick. However I might give it another try using the Snow Prince mod.

11:10 nuh uh!!! There's another lizard. The old man in front of ald-ruhn mages guild gives you a quest that leads you to a crashed airship in solstheim. In this crashed airship you find a jornal by the captain, in it says an argonian sailor jumped off mid-air after getting paranoid, right as they approached the island from the southeast. And guess what you can find in the southeast of soltheim? A dead argonian impaled on the rocks.

Hroldar vanishing actually IS explained, it’s just a Carnius route only explanation so almost nobody knows it, and it’s a really lame explanation anyways. If you work with Carnius, Hroldar will work with you for one of the later quests and mentions “That trick ring of Carnius' did quite a number. Don't have one this time around, though, so I'd hate to have to put yeh down. Don't get any bright ideas about fightin'.” Bloodmoon is far better than Tribunal. The main quest of Bloodmoon at least makes sense, and EEC… tries interesting ideas but Tribunal is just a total mess. It’s just a long series of mandatory dumb decisions. “Hey sorry I tried to have you murdered, why don’t you help me for no real pay?” shouldn’t be how you open a questline. Only good thing about Tribunal is a few new script options needed for mods (start script) and fixing the lack of endgame medium armor (poorly as the amount of adamantine is random so you need good rolls to be able to get all the parts) which the official plugins did anyways. I can also accept Hircine stirring up the wildlife to be unusually (but not massively) tough and a band of isolationist warriors being powerful fighters than I can buy the uber-goblins Tribunal opens with. Maybe do the Oblivion version of Stirk, the only Tamriel Rebuilt content released for TES4?

I had a strange relationship with this dlc. Riding off the nostalgia from dragonborn revisiting the land had its own charm for me, in a time when my consoles were dead for years and my PC couldn't run Skyrim lol. That being said, the main quest really was terrible but the raven rock antics really make the dlc. There are some entertaining characters like Maik the Liar and Uncle Sweetshare but it's really not taking advantage of Morrowinds strengths in terms of writing/world building. I just figured it was a B team scenario or w/e as it tends to be. Very surprised to see that that may not be the case. Great shit as always War, have a wonderful day.

Funny, I'm also someone who has invested hundreds of hours into Morrowind since I got it around 2003 (I think) and have also played Tribunal but never Bloodmoon (for the exact same reason as you stated). I feel kind of bad that I never finished the official content but based on this video I guess my instincts were right!

I picked up morrowind a few years ago and I had no idea what was going on so I headed to khuul and when on the boat to solstiem because I new about it from Skyrim. I completed the blood moon story line before touching the base games one.

You also get a ring at the end that turns you into a wherewolf so you dont have to deal with the drawbacks.

I remember trying to play Bloodmoon long ago when I was a kid on XBox and being terrified of the draugr. Don't think I played it much after that since I couldn't deal with zombies. There's one thing I think was different between the XBox and PC versions. If I remember correctly I think due to console space limitations Raven Rock ends up being smaller with fewer buildings on XBox. I can't remember if there were other instances like that between versions.

with few mods balanced the werewolves better the werewolf version of questline was actually really fun to me

It's always good to see a reviews on a different Morrowind mods - i just love that game and love to return to it's atmosphere! Btw, Warlock, what's your opinion about a total conversion mod "The Chaos Heart"? I remember how i've tried it...and from that day i didn't play vanilla Morrowind at all. Never thought to tell the audience about it - especially considering that there is still no translation for this mod from russian? I think, that will be interesting for peoples, cuz as for me that mod is a hidden gem.

I liked Tribunal. Exploring the city was pretty fun. I never finished it, just like I never finished the main quest, and never finished the Bloodmoon quest, and never finished the Oblivion main quest, and never finished the Skyrim main quest nor the civil war quest, and never finished Fallout 4's quest. But Tribunal was fun. I do fondly remember Fort Frostmoth, and was kinda sad to see it's state in Skyrim.

I actually enjoyed Bloodmoon. I even enjoyed it more than the other dlcs and main game to the point where I actually finished the story there. It is also refreshingly different looking than Morrowind proper as Morrowind looks like a cross between Detroit and a natural volcanic disaster. Bloodmoon on the other hand has some regular looking trees and settlements that look livable and not like over glorified mud huts. I also liked playing as a werewolf. When I started that dlc I funnily couldn't find the boat. So I literally just swam the whole way.

I like Solstheim somewhat but I feel like it doesn't have even a quarter of vanilla Morrowind's worldbuilding. The landscape is great, the atmosphere is great, but it doesn't feel like a real place the same way Vvardenfell does. There's just one village and you don't see where they get their food from, they have a mead hall far away from the actual village for no real reason, etc. I gotta check out Tomb of the Snow Prince to see if it fixes those issues!

Bloodmoon is fun though I enjoy tribunal much more, that one is legit good and I will die on that hill. Blood Moon's biggest issue really is the boring story and lack of detail with the NPCs. However exploring the island is still damn fun imo. I haven't heard of the mod you used but I'll definitely check it out next time I play morrowind. Good video all around my dude.

Bloodmoon's main quest is definitely not very good at all, very boring objectives and most of the Skaal stuff is generic and badly written. The EEC questline was pretty decent tho and there are a few solid misc quests. But yeah, overall just play SHOTN instead if you're looking for some Nord content.
