I only found you a few days ago, but I really enjoy how you weave in roleplaying your character, lore jokes, and a very competent look at a mod all at the same time. You get a lot of praise for your style and it's wholly deserved. Great videos!
This is something that truly is lost with modern games. The push for higher graphical fidelity makes projects like this practically impossible for modders. Though I suppose that just makes it even more impressive when projects like Enderal are completed
I actually enjoy the graphics from games from this era better than new games, the only thing that is kind unpleasant to look at in Morrowind is the character movements and the faces, everything else is beautiful specially exploring the landscape
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess Oh don't get me wrong, I do too Some of the most fun games I've ever played have had retro graphics, or simply been older games I really think the constant pursuit of better graphics is greatly hindering the gaming industry The indie scene thankfully has realized this for the most part, and we're getting really mechanically interesting games, with beautiful retro styled graphics It's a great time to like those kind of games honestly
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess I am the same way. I can still get distracted by the enviroments of Morrowind or oogle spritework in Baldurs Gate or Age of Empires but modern AAA cinematic realistic graphics make my eyes glaze over.
@@TheBard1999 you know you can edit settings.cfg to increase your draw and cell load distance? Ive got a pretty mid range rig and I get 60fps at 40000 lod and 3 cells loaded
This mod really is amazing, the sheer amount of content that is indistinguishable from stuff present in the main game is a testament to how talented these modders are. and the fact that it's 19 years in the making and still having new releases is crazy.
The matter of fact way you go over that woman being stuck in a soul gem, being freed, coming to peace with her death, and jotting her last words to her family down, is kind of brilliant, because I know if any modern Bethesda game tried to do that, it would be a major quest. It would be fawned over, beloved. Game of the year material. But instead its a quiet reality of the story being told in this game. Soul Gems are real. They exist to house the souls of the dead. And the dead are still there. It's a horror, a small unquieting of the entire game universe. Its like corpse starch in Warhammer. You realize almost everyone on most hiveworlds are cannibals, and they are cannibals by state policy. They themselves will be cannibalized if unlucky enough to leave behind enough of a corpse. And the madness just perpetuates itself.
Well, Black Soul Gem's are real, but rare, and the other variants of Soul Gem are morally questionable depending on whether or not you believe that Dremora and various non-humanoid entities (like Dreugh) are sentient, and furthermore, aware of their predicament in the gem. The Soul Gem's do exist to hold the soul's of the dead, but in TES lore you need a special, and highly forbidden, kind of gem to capture the extremely potent soul's of the various humanoid races. Apparently the discussion of sentience in TES largely revolves around the humanoid races, everything else is fair game to use to create a sentient sword that can trap more soul's.
5:04 The reason you don't see toilets in Dunmer dwellings is because shitting in a bucket wasn't actually invented until some time in the 4th Era, as seen in Skyrim
"We find this book, preaching about the _weakness_ and the _imminent collapse_ of the Empire. I mean, it's true _to an extent,_ certainly these are not the best days for the Septim State. But do you guys want to hear a _joke?_ " _Music stops_ " *_House Indoril._* " Fucking legendary
"Have you ever seen a toilet in a Dunmer household?" I have never seen a toilet in ANY Elder Scrolls game, nor in any major mod IIRC. Not in Arena, not in Daggerfall, not Battlespire, Redguard, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim. Not Tamriel Rebuilt, not Skyrim Home of the Nords, not Project Cyrodiil. My conclusion is that due to the common existence of magic in the world of TES, the population found a way to remove the need to shit.
Damn right you apologize for the length of the video. I so wish it was twice, or three times as long. Seriously man, you are the type of a let's player I could watch indefinetly, I've seen no other person get so immersed in the world and talk about their experience in such an engaging way, very similar to how I always played Morrowind, yet still a delightfully different perspective. Is there any chance for a Morrowind playthrough in the future? I'd watch the hell out of it. You deserve so many more views and subs.
Thought I'd let you know that 3 years later this comment is still getting people in trouble at work for laughing too loud lol You're absolutely right, and now I can't unheard it haha
Ja'Jabba is one of the politest betmer I've ever met, a true gentlemer, how dare you imply his character is anything but impeccable, I will be reporting this to the Eastern Thirr Abolitionist Society
This doesn't even scratch the surface of what's within the Ebonheart/Aanthirinn lands alone. For instance, you being confused about the legality of the Necromancer in Ebonheart? There's a Tribunal Temple quest where you campaign the city to remove the legal loophole that prevents him from getting arrested. My personal favorite questline has to be the Ebonheart Imperial Legion. While the Imperial Legion in vanilla kinda just felt like Fighters Guild, the Ebonheart questline feels more like "fantasy cop simulator".
@@Warlockracy The Aimrah quest is one of my all time favorite Elder Scrolls quests. It's not super elaborate and the reward isn't crazy, but the story and atmosphere are set up perfectly. First time I've felt creeped out in an Elder Scrolls game in a while.
Gotta check out the Imperial Legion there then. Played through this part of TR as a sneaky mage, the thief guild questline is really good too which will eventually turn you into Morrowind's Indiana Jones. Don't remember much about the Mage Guild questline, but the Temple was something else and very memorable. It really hyped House Indoril for me as you deal a lot with them through the Temple quests, they're kinda like Redoran but actually cool and with style, sadly who knows when they're added as a joinable House.
@@Warlockracy We dont care that the videos are too long, you already put out multiple hour+ long videos, feel free to make them as long as you want mate.
This is such great commentary. The humor is so nicely dry but hilarious. "I don't know, I'm not Queen Barenziah" got me good. Also, you got me reinstalling Morrowind again. Your thorough showcasing really got me interested. Thank you for making these videos!
Re: Two Ebonhearts, the reason put forth in the video makes so much more sense than one alluded to in ESO. There, you can find a note or something where Vivec says to one of his servants that he thinks the town of Ebonheart is really cool and he wants one close to Vivec too. It's funny, I guess, but kind of conflicts with the political landscape thing present in the lore.
Warlockracy took that from www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/about/frequently-asked-questions/old-ebonheart . It is sort of ironic that both the "totally not a new settlement nu-uh" justification one of our Leads wrote up in 2015 and www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/about/about-our-lore from 2016 were written long before the Morrowind expansion for ESO was released.
This type of review is amazing. It's the gonzo journalism of game/mod reviews, integrating a playthrough in the review itself. Great work! I hope you'll keep focusing on open-world games like Morrowind, Fallout, and Skyrim.
This is HIGH quality! I love that Morrowind still has so much to offer in 2021! The modders are doing an incredible job, and you do a incredible job of covering them in your videos.
5:10 Don't be silly, of course there aren't any toilets. The empire tried to intoduce them but Slaughterfish and Dreugh kept spawning in the water and attacking people 😆
What i like about your videos is how immersive they are. Both review and a personal experience, all the while incorpotating a lot of additional information about the condition and times related to the media. I know only one or two other youtubers that deal with content in such an immersive way, and both of them are from the russian segment
Watching this after the latest TR Progress update, it looks like the Ebonheart Tournament is becoming a reality. I love how TR diagetically teased it in the newspaper. Just a few more decades and we can roleplay as a Breton Hedge Knight travelling the continent to fight in tourneys and arenas
I have watched your videos every day for the past three days and I think I've watched this video four times now. I just can't get enough of your style man. You have been initiated into my pantheon of legendary game reviewers, sharing a seat beside SsethTzeentch and MandaloreGaming. I've never even played Morrowind, only Skyrim and I've been captivated by this series. Your style is just fantastic. Thanks for making these videos for us.
I wonder if the Tarhiel quest has a different outcome scripted for it if you manage to save Tarhiel. >buy slowfall or fortify health spell cast on touch or at range >aim it at Tarhiel before he hits the ground It should theoretically be possible.
I think there was an easy way of saving him by standing right in the place he's supposed to land It worked in the original, even though it isn't very logical.
Wow, TR is incredible. I knew it was expansive, but the attention to detail, faithfulness to the lore and OG MW, and the interesting locations and quests are blowing my mind. Going to jump in soon. Great video! New subscriber here.
I remember working on a single interior back in 2007ish for this. I really wish I had kept with the project. I think now they mainly need questing help, I think most exterior and interior work is at a more advanced/near completed stage. I look forward to playing the recent version and seeing the progress!
I've never cackled into tears watching a mod review but your humor and grasp of TES lore were killing me all video, subbed and notifs are on for you my man
I love this style of video. I haven't played Morrowind in 10 years yet I'm watching a 56 minute video about a fan project that I knew about but never thought of downloading, just because you made it so interesting with your narration.
I notice you get a bunch of white lines and dots appearing on the edge of objects. If you're using an NVIDIA graphics card try setting Antialiasing - Gamma Correction to Off in the Control Panel for Morrowind. It won't a 100% solve the problem but it'll make it a lot less frequent.
Absolutely incredible video. I recently got into Morrowind after trying (and failing to) in the past. The game and its atmosphere have absolutely swallowed me whole, I can't wait to dive into this mod once I finish with the main campaign. I wouldn't apologize for the length, the way you narrated your travels and adventures were awesome and very entertaining.
Oh my god this looks incredible! Been playing morrowind on and off for a few years and i've finally gotten hooked. Need to try this mod at some point. Also I love this style of video, great job!
Just finished binging this channel during this week and I gotta say, as someone who doesn't really like watching video game reviews unless they're done in an entertaining or unique manner (see Civvie11, SsethTzeentach, accursed farms etc.), this videos are not bad at all, the elderscrolls mod reviews are especially great. Keep it up man, there's much potential here.
_Mentions Tarrant from Arcanum_ _Hits subscribe_ Also, holy crap, I've been on the fence for a long time now thinking of replaying Morrowind for the first time since 2006. This video convinced me.
After watching this video and scouring through your channel, I can honestly say that I have found my new favorite gaming channel. 11/10 content, keep up the good work!
Wow, I never expected the amount of content in Tamriel Rebuilt. That realm of Oblivion clearly shows the amount of effort Tamriel Rebuilt team have put to the project. No wonder it takes so long. Thanks for opening my eyes through this video!
Have played it TR first time earlier this year and its amazing... Started westward through sightseeing only locations which looked incredible. Old Ebonheart was just stunning. Well done guys and please keep this going!
I am very pleased to have found your videos. I really enjoy long videos talking about a subject, or video game. It is nice to have some content from someone who really knows and appreciate the series, and is able to make subtle jokes because of it. I am really excited to see the rest of the content you will be uploading.
10:14 Well, if you're smuggling slaves specifically, teleportation won't work. You can only cast teleportation spells on yourself. Yes, guild guides are a thing, but all of them seem to have a whole ritual space set aside for them, which smugglers maybe can't manage.
@@Warlockracy Slavery is legal in Morrowind - but not in Elsweyr or Black Marsh. Once they are in a slave market in Morrowind, they're slaves, but until then, in the eyes of the Empire, they are citizens who have been kidnapped.
the morrowind fan expansions bring me so much joy. some absolutely incredible work. i've been playing a new character these past two weeks and have found that the temple quests in mainland morrowind are some of the best elder scrolls content i've ever played. the bloodstone pilgrimage was short and sweet but it made me feel things i wasn't anticipating. the temple was never my favorite faction in vanilla morrowind but i think it is my favorite now. my friends are pissed at me because all i do is talk about morrowind stuff now. i feel lucky to be alive in these times! thanks for all the great vids
I’ve watched this video at least 5 times start to finish and a lot of your Morrowind videos I’ve watched multiple times. There grate videos and I love how you follow one character like an adventure, on top of that your commentary is great
It's phenomenal how fast your channel has grown, but it's entirely deserved. The style, the delivery and the competence (knowing the material you are reviewing) are what does it. Great job!
I really love these kinds of videos. There's something comfortable and fun about them at the same time. I'd love to see more Morrowind videos, even if they're the same mods again; but just totally exploring the content.
This along with your other videos finally convinced me to give the province mods a shot. I would also love to see you cover some of the bigger and popular Quest mods or vanilla Questlines.
Morrowind is my favorite game of all time. I'm glad to experience other parts of Tamriel in it. So far it's pretty awesome from what little I've played of it. But amazing watching others and seeing videos like this about just how huge it is.
