Electric vehicles are having a revolution - but not the kind we imagined. While we see Tesla’s and Fiat's saturating the public market in places like the US and Europe, most people around the world can’t afford them. Instead, their EV’s look a little bit different.
This episode of Spotlight takes a dive into the rise of 2- and 3-wheeler electric vehicles in the Global South.

E bikes are great second vehicles. However in the US most people think of bikes as purely recreational vehicles. Other problems to ebike adoption for transportation in the US is the lack of safe bike infrastructure. Unlike India, Vietnam, and Indonesia winter also presents an issue for bikes for transportation in much of N. America.

Winters are only a problem if we let them. Most roads are still driveable in the winter cuz we maintains them with snow plows and salt. Bike lanes and trails should be held to the same expectation as roads do in terms of winter maintenance. Switzerland has no problem with this

Didn’t mention sodium based battery cells which are coming into mass production by CATL uses zero lithium and cobalt.

Some Filipinos have Electric bicycles but for me I can't afford to buy an E-bike or bored of designing my E-bike alone concerning on how to balance while biking and my weight isn't suitable for me otherwise I'll get severe injuries and shouted for help calling an ambulance. I'm from the Philippines.

Arkadiusz, they have existing large scale Wind, and Solar farms, some countries including Nuclear energy or Natural Gas but they have potential to hurt the land and water ecosystem mostly gas leaks and radioactive ☢️ waste if nothing is regulated, disposed off properly, or cleaning the mess with needing hazmat suits. I should never forget the existing Hydroelectric energy but traditional dams would slow the flow of the rivers causing some areas dry out others flooded, and existing geothermal energy if countries have volcanic activity they can build it, however if countries have no volcanic activity if the lava flow is cooled down either they can build it or not to build it. Thank You.

Your out of touch with EV price reality, which is at par with many ICE vehicles. Also, cobalt uses is much more important with refining of oil company than EV, which is on the way out of EV with LFP batteries!
