Tonight! The day after Juneteenth the MLB will be playing its first professional game at Rickwood Field in Birmingham Alabama. 2 summers ago Kay Kay & I took the boys down to Birmingham to experience history outside of their text books. Lessons were learned, sites were seen and a time was had.
Big shout to The Birmingham Black Barons and Rickwood Field for breaking barriers and making dreams come true. Decades later this place and this team is still inspiring generations of future leaders.
Who wants to see The Ellises Family Vacation make a comeback?

Jackson crying was the most beautiful moment I’ve seen in a while, we are the descendants of our ancestors and in so many ways we feel that pain that our ancestors had to go through, seeing him acknowledge that so young was deep.. He as well as his brothers have very bright and meaningful lives ahead of them

When Jackson cried, I lost it. I just wanted to hug him and tell him that everything will get better. However, I’m going to stay in prayer on that one.

Jackson has a sensitivity and compassion that is truly God-given. Praises to DeVale for the way he let him know that crying made him no less a man! I love the life lessons that Kay and DeVale teach their sons! They're both on the same page about how to rear their boys and it's a beautiful thing! Love them! ❤

I’m also glad that Devale makes them actually let out their emotions rather holding it in so it doesn’t hurt any sort of their masculinity and personality

Jackson's reaction is why it is necessary to have black history in schools for ALL to learn. But black people, please teach your children at home. Ellis dad and mom Great job. I love it. Don't stop.💜

I failed the challenge. It's so hard to see what our ancestors went thru. I'm so grateful to have been able to do something that makes them proud. Showing them, they didn't fight in vain. I love that these kids got to see what they could. Jackson broke me down. I was already emotional knowing the history of Birmingham. Thank u for sharing this. ❤❤❤"Think bigger, do bigger". I love that they're being raised on that. It's what our ancestors had to do to break barriers for us to live a better life here in America. 🌟

Don't give up on baseball Jackson. It is a very hard sport, however a determined young man like yourself can become good at it. Let your younger brothers see that hard work and determination pays off. Great job parents on giving this exposure to your boys.

OMG, THAT BROKE ME DOWN, 😢😢😢 JACKSON UNDERSTOOD WHAT HIS GRANDPAREPNTS AND THOSE WHO HAVE PAVE AWAY FOR EACH GENERATION. I WAS BORN IN THE EARLY SIXTIES, SO WHEN I STARTED SCHOOL THERE WAS STILL ALOT OF TENTION GOING ON BECAUCE OF RACE, NOW WE SEE OUR OWN PEOPLE DESTROYING EACH OTHER, WHICH IS SO VERY SAD. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL ALWAYS. 🙏🏿✝️

This right here 😢😢😢 to see Jackson so emotional means he gets it. Devale and Kay Kay you are both awesome parents. Not only are you teaching this to Jackson but to so many more people some history. Not everybody have the opportunty or even able to go to places like this so you have no idea how you are educating others. When I was in school we never learned anything about slavery nor anything in reference to race. In Texas schools they taught us Texas History. I learned a lot about colored and colorism when we would go to my grandparents for the summer months in Louisiana. I remember my grandmother could never buy yards of material just scraps and we would have to go in the back door of the store and only allowed so far in the store. Black people paid the same price for scraps the what white people paid for a yard of fabric. My grandmother was so talented she would make me beautiful designs and the white ladies would ask her to make dresses for their daughters and granddaughters and she charged them a hefty price for her skills and time. I made my grandmother promise she would never make them anything identical to what she made for me. My grandfather would go into town to sell his crop and he was not allowed to look the white man in the eye. He would give his price and they would try to talk him down he would say, ”My price is firm”. I loved watching him stand tall to them it made me proud to be black knowing we had what they wanted and he had secrets to make the quality of his crop better. When the movie roots first came out is when we really learned so much and it sited a lot of riots. We have come a long way but still have a long way to go. I know God will continue covering us. Keep up the good work educating people on reality and life. Big hugs to Jackson❤❤❤❤❤❤
