I took my younger cousins to watch this movie The most fun I had was around the first 40 mins when I turn to see the older one with tears in his eyes for how bored he was and when I offered to leave the younger one said she wanted to stay until the end, maybe out of a childlike sense that the movie could be good When we left the theater she said she did not like it It was a funny afternoon
*Comparison of The 'Real World' Characters' Stories:* *_-_*_ Riley (Inside Out):_ She moves to a new location, struggles with emotions, her once perfect relationship with her parents is becoming more complicated, humiliates herself as the new kid, runs away, lets go of her childhood and learns how to deal with the new emotions that she faces when growing up, gets a boyfriend that connects with her sceptical father. *_-_*_ Alex (The Emoji Movie):_ Goes to school like all the other kids, texts a girl he likes a confusing emoji and gets a little embarrassed, gets his phone checked, a new emoji is sent to his crush, she tells him she likes him.
TakeFlight absolutely, even at Pixar's worst they can still deliver some good stuff. I'm definitely in a minority here (for my age) but I think Cars 2 (Pixar's worst) isn't a bad movie, just average, but because of our high expectations of Pixar it gets scrutiny. If Pixar made The Emoji Movie we wouldn't know how to react
Paymon Khaleghi well the problem is quality is only one of many factors in a movie's commercial success. Take The Emoji Movie and The Iron Giant. One was a clear depiction of a Patrick Stewart character within said movie and the other was a pretty solid movie. Despite the drastic difference of quality The Emoji Movie was actually profitable, whereas The Iron Giant may have underperformed. Pixar have made a name of themselves by continuously releasing well made movies and they have benefited from that, but that all requires a lot of very talented people and creative free will. Sony Animations won't ever go down that route because they're already making money off of shit so why change it?
1:05 That might be one of my favorite scenes that you've shot. Also, that scene is scarier then the last 5 horror movies I've seen. You really need to direct one day.
Film's Director: It's about being yourself... blah, blah, blah... you'll cry... etc, etc... it's a really good movie... Me: You cast Patrick Stuart... as poop.
Have you seen the film 'office christmas party'? Who am I kidding here, nobody did. anyway That Film was a steaming pile of shit. TJ miller doesnt troll, he simply drops his pants and bends over if the cheque is big enough.
Well, I can understand why you didn't think this was as painful as you imagined. Man, you endured through Star Wars Holiday Special, 2 Neil Breen movies and Son of the Mask... Emoji is like a good movie compared to those lol
We're literally foregoing thousands of years of language and communication development and going straight back to what are essentially hieroglyphs and cave paintings. People younger than 30 barely know how to spell or put together a sentence which is even close to being grammatically correct.
Dude I am that demographic with Reboot on YTV growing up that was perfect. Just found your channel and I love you and everything you're doing, it's great!
Hey Mark, first off LOVE your reviews! Keep up the GREAT work. BTW I love your shirt in this episode...I live on OKINAWA. You need to visit one day....I''ll teach you a few lessons in Okinawa Karate! Hugs from Okinawa.. :)
Mark. I’m a Guatemalan almost 30 years old guy and I remember Reboot, so not that specific. Tough here they never released the season after Bob is lost.
Great video, like always. So glad to hear back from you so quickly. You described the main flaws of this movie really well. Especially blatant product placement and confusing morals it contained. And the thumbnail was really... appropriate LOL "You came for blood" part made me LMAO. Looking forward to your next video. Would you mind reviewing "The Ninth Gate" at some point, please?
This is obviously isn't a knock on Mark but he doesn't upload on a regular schedule. A lot of the top traffic movie reviewers review new movies and old which helps the traffic as well.
I like how you always point out that just because a movie is for kids, it doesn't mean it gets a free pass. There are kids movies that are very well made and worth watching, even for adults. It's an excuse for laziness and lack of creativity. Also, loved Reboot growing up 👍
Another funny thing about this is that Jordan Peele was offered the role of Poop and turned it down as he thought it was beneath him and then Patrick Stewart, a FAR better accredited Actor, and someone with a much better sense of humour took the role.
Fuck yeah! I totally forgot about reboot! That was, by far, my favorite show for a long, LONG time! If I'm not mistaken it aired on Toonami (in the US) somewhere between the years '95 to '00, and i was in awe of the animation. Damn, you playing that little clip made all of my childhood flash before my eyes, lmao!
I am your polish fan around 30 years old and I loved Reboot as a kid! I actually tried watch it again about a year ago and I found so low res copy on YT but couldn't really get into it again. Still, good memories. I've heard someone's trying to make a new version? Wonder how that could go...
dude 2 videos within the same 30 days damn we are spoiled! Keep up the good work bro really enjoy your stuff man and take your time! it is almost like every time you upload a video its like a mini holiday.
Glad you're back... Again. And I love that you decided to do this there will never be enough hatred for the emoji move but it's a new year we should just lose it to time like many other bad movies
You know, the more you say it, it does make it stand out the mindset of 10 years ago and now with the Emoji Movie. Where Wall-e showed the destructive result of this kind of culture, Emoji movie glorifies it to the point that human interaction is abnormal. But hey, thats capitalism for you.
I don't know what you guys are talking about. This movie is up there with some of the greatest movies ever. Like Return of the King and Empire Strikes Back. Infact it might be as good as Transformers the Last Knight. *Grabs popcorn and waits for haters.*
should've just had the emotions break out of their "set" emotion to where they have a full range, and they did this by following the new emoji. throw in a bad guy who wants people to keep the status quo and bam you have a good version of this movie
Mrs Lucas Baker So far, it holds the record. Dawn of Justice made me want to leave the cinema, and Suicide Squad caused me to fall asleep. This hunk of crap made me hate animations. And I love animations. It also made more money than Kubo and The Two Strings, a totally awesome animated film that proves animations that are PG don't have to be kiddie. This is was super kiddie, and gave fans of animation a bad name. Plus, the bullshit ending made me fuming mad.
wes papes I totally side with the "I wish I was this lucky" comment. You are talking about high budget movies made to make money and create hype being bad ones? I mean, I understand they're hard to watch because of the god-awful dialogue, and terrible script, but come on, they're full of fanservice, good CGI, good acting, good cinematography, good makeup and clothing, and all that. These films are bad, but they're made to be eye-catching. They're made to psychologcally appeal to your senses. If we're talking about movies which are REALLY painful to sit through, talk about homemade films, or the kinds that Mark reviews on his channel. And I would recommend looking into foreign films, at least older, low-budget ones. They're the kind that don't know what they're doing, have unrealistic characters, and play out like fanfiction, for the benefit of the creator, rather than the viewer.
What would have been better is that he ultimately learns that if the girl is going to be so impressed by an emoji then she truly is not the right girl for him.
There are no stupid comments here! 😃 People must finally be keeping their stupid comments in their pockets! 🤪 Which coincidentally is where I found this one! 😳
For some reason my girlfriend loves this movie, which comes as a shock to me because she is very intelligent and the humour in this movie is beneath her, I just don't get it. This movie is endemic of the problems of modern society, it shows how people flock to technology rather than creating actual human connections with people. People rely too heavily on this shit and it annoys me, it reminds me of going for a night out with people, only to be the only one sitting there not using my phone whilst everyone is sitting there texting. This movie is part of the problem within modern society. And for my girlfriend to like this movie has me totally perplexed.
HOLY SHIT! Did Mark just bust out "Reboot"? I have not thought of that show in over 25 years probably. Damn man, you just took me down some memory lane. Was it a Canadian thing? It came on i. the states early as shit in the mornings before the prime time shit like Ninja Turtles and the like came on
Hey we got Reboot in England back then too. I remember it well it was on ITV during the CITV TV slot after school and the only 3D CG Animated TV Show I’ve ever loved
For the record, we had Reboot in the US, too. But it was on really late in the Saturday morning cartoon block, around 11:30, after our dads had all turned the channel to professional golf and fallen asleep. But yeah, I loved Reboot too!
I´ve expected this movie from you and it did not disappoint! Thing I really like about these reviews is I can watch them again and again. Never bored to watch you suffer for our entertainment. So funny. And If there´s a new video, I make a special sandwitch for it and watch it when I can really sit down and enjoy.
Hey Mark, I'm a big fan of your show! I especially liked the videos you did on the worst superhero movies, but sadly they got removed (most likely due to the copyrighted music used lol). Do you think you could re-upload them onto your Facebook or something? Anyways, Keep up the good work. -John
