This is a short discussion of some of the contradictions that built the Imperium, specifically how the Imperium came to incorporate Mars and its unique religion.
I always find the Emperors struggle with humans very interesting. His own goal is to guide humanity further and further through whatever kind of manipulation, but it gets harder and harder for him the further they get.
I find it ironically fitting that Big E wanted to save humanity but had become completely detached from regular people. He cared about "Humanity", but that was just some idealised abstraction he had in his head. He cared nothing about individual humans, like all Great Utopian Engineer types.
So you say that the grudge of the Mechanicum split it into two later on? I thought Horus just hijacked them with scrap code... Can someone refresh my mind?
From what I understand, there was a not insignificant portion of the mechanicum that always thought the emperor was, for lack of better terms, sus, that coupled with thousands of years of petty rivalries between forgeworlds led to a cascading effect that split the mechanicum on two, primarily due to individual forgeworlds siding which whoever their rivals sided with so they could have an excuse to slaughter them without a governing body clapping them in response
