Even doe its not canon, still feels amazing to see krillin get his own story/his own moment. the way he was written in this fan comic is the same way it be on the originals animes. Krillin may not be the strongest, may not have the biggest Kamehameha and he most certainly doesn't have a nose. Still doesn't stop how amazing of a person Krillin is.

I love that this story really nails down a central theme and uses it consistently as everyone's failing- hubris. Gohan toyed with Cell and got himself and everyone killed. Cell refused to finish off Krillin because it was beneath him. Goten followed his older brother and got a hole in his chest. Finally, Cell once again repeatedly underestimated Krillin. But not Krillin. He put the hours in, studied techniques, took every available avenue of advancement and finally, gave everything he had. Love it.

Well technically Goten didn't lose because of hubris, of you watch that scene again, he actually ran out of energy like Cell and dropped out of SSJ 2. He says as much "I have lost alot of energy, but you have lost much more when you had to regenerate " I'm paraphrasing, but it wasn't arrogance. At the same time, how it's written, Krillen wins due to plot because it's already stated that he was no match for Cell at any point. But he wins anyways

@ezyo1000 Goten could have probably not wasted time talking to cell in that moment and could have instead obliterated him with a Kamehameha on the spot. But since he took the time to talk that let Cell regenerate. So yeah, him taking the time to taunt cell for the 20th time again instead of not hesitating to put him down, was hubris

@@RandomizationShow problem is that is poor writing as Krillen should've already told Goten HOW and WHY the OG Z fighters died. By that exact reason. I feel this would've hit better of it didn't come off like Krillen could've beaten cell the whole time and instead, sacrificed himself with a Kamehameha/Kikoho combo. As Goten is supposed to be the new Hope while allowing Krillen his revenge and win

Its perfect that Krillin, a full-blooded human, was the one to save the Earth from Cell, and doing whatever it took to make it happen. Earth's greatest warrior indeed. After such a beautiful display of relying purely on the skills, techniques, and innate power of one's own species, even Vegeta would have nothing but pride and respect for Krillin, King of the Humans. He wouldn't diminish and ridicule humanity but rather see humanity as equals. Plenty of weaklings, but inner strength and cunning which rivals even the strongest and smartest of Saiyans.

I really appreciate that Krillin was the one who dealt the finishing blow. While it was building toward Goten getting the victory, but tbh Goten really didn’t know the Z-Fighters. He was simply put in a position of Earth’s Savior due to their failure. However, Krillin as a character is pretty much done after this moment. He is Cell’s regret and he finally avenged his friends. And he leaves Earth with their new hero who now understands what it means to be the protector of Earth after seeing his master sacrifice it all for everyone. Great story by the author!

I personally think it would've been better for a dual victory. Yes Goten doesn't know the z fighters, but it's established that Krillen wasn't as strong enough to best Cell. Had he stalled for Goten to recover and they finished Cell with a Kamehameha/Kikoho combo with Krillen sacrificing himself, it would tie better to the relationship between Goten and Him, and tying his Krillen is ready to see his friends

Krillen was strong enough to beat back cell and force his "death" regeneration, then Goten as Ssj2 kills him but then gets grievously injured and then krillen is able to pull a kaioken kikoho combo and win but it feels flat, its sacrifices the story to give a unconvincing win. Having Goten and Krillen kill cell together at the cost of Krillens life makes for a better, more emotional ending and plays on Gohan defeating cell with the Father/Son Kamehameha from the OG DBZ. Because as it ends now, Goten is only the protector due to failure and an obvious trope of doing the same thing Gohan did that got Goku killed EVEN THOUGH Goten acknowledges what caused his brother to lose yet does it anyways? That weak writing

I think the reason they were removed from that part of the story is due to Goku having instant transmission. Not giving the author the opportunity to demonstrate Krillin being the hero at the end. To justify it, I believe the excuse would be that it's been 13 years and nothing really has happened so they entrusted the Earth to Krillin and Goten.

He Could have made up his own rules since it is his original story were Goku couldn't intervene at all even with instant transmission.. they could have watched the fight with both trunks tien Yamcha and king kia without getting directly involved with the battle..

This story was a 10/10 I was scared when it was said that future trunks was going to arrive I hoped he didn’t because it would have been undeserved for him to come out of nowhere and win so I am glad krillin was the one to win improving himself for the moment cell returned and was finally able to do what he wanted to do for 13 years even though it costed him his life at least the earth was finally at peace

A fight never feels good unless theres drawbacks, or a time limit. Chokes me up every time i watch krillin's body give out from the kaioken. The pain and anguish he must have been in, begging to stand up one more time before finally getting up to end it. Its the same kind of thing that made ssj3 the best transformation, The double edge desperation was THE BEST PART. Modern writing is just so bad, and cant compare to stuff like this. Love this, and i hope to see it animated one day.

This has got to be one of the best colorings I've seen in a long time. The art was already top notch, but the expert detail in the coloring only makes it so much better. New Hope is definitely up there with the likes of Kakumei in terms of excellent fan mangas.

That's because the author made the wise decision to not include Super into his canon. Otherwise, Cell would've made mentions of the Galactic Patrol when he was mentioning his tour around the galaxy. Or used that weird creature thing in super that knows everything there is to know, to exposition to Cell about the Dragon Balls.

Just discovered this series and I have to say this is outstanding work. You've really captured the essence of the original Dragon Ball Z from the '90s before GT, Super and all the silliness we have today. The music and editing along with the narration make the story even more compelling. Absolutely killer stuff man. Keep it up!

It’s not completely impractical, nor does goten or trunks feel against it whatsoever It’s an extensive multiplier as well which is proven to be better than 2v1ing someone It’s impractical with people like goku and vegeta who are generally against it But that’s kinda goten and trunk’s whole battle plan and it’s not even that bad

Kinda makes you wonder why goku never learned the tri-beam. He probably could have beaten frieza at kaio ken times twenty with it. You know It’s funny that probably the two of strongest known Ki techniques the tri-beam and the destructo disk have origins with humans and are most commonly used by them. Even Frieza saw the value of the disk.

@@koolkidkam9807by Cells own admission, and what follows, he had enough energy to regenerate back to full power. This is followed by Krillen stating that is why cell was so confident the entire fight, and why Goten dropped out of SSJ 2 but said he could still kill him in ssj, but then cell gets the win over him This was a mess up by the author

Krillin combining those techniques was cool, but it's hard to believe that a guy who was vastly weaker prior to his android upgrade (which wasn't nearly enough to match Cell's power) could become a Cell-killer after removing said upgrade. And if he could do that all along, he should have done it when he first started fighting Cell. The world was at stake; why wait and risk getting one-shotted?

@@jdfree49 To answer your questions: 1. Krilin's plan was to stall Cell until Goten arrives. To that end android form with infinite energy and untraceable ki was the smart choice. Also don't forget that after 13 years of absence Cell's power was a big unknown..as was Goten's after his training. Even if Krilin had the power to kill Cell right then and there, he didn't have enough information to realize that yet. 2. Ripping out the core did not make you go back to being plain human. Remember the android modification was done at a cellular level. Inifine energy reactor (which I assume was in the core) was pointless without an extremely durable body that can handle said energy, as well as power, speed and tougness required from a combat android. What Krilin discarded was the free, but artificial energy from the reactor. His own body still stayed extremely powerful, and his modified cells could generate ki that matched its needs, just not indefinitely like androids with a core. In return this "natural" ki enabled him to use techniques that required more precise control. We know that both Kaio-ken and Kikoho were extremely dangerous for the user unless they had perfect control over them. That was the benefit of discarding the core. 3. Pulling the plug on the core was a one time, irreversible decision all things considered. It wasn't a switch to flick, or a mode to choose. In the middle of a fight, only way to shut off the energy reactor was to rip it out, and there would be no going back, since Cell was most definitely not going to give Krillin a day off so he can hop over to Bulma's to have it fixed.. So that's why only after initial plan failed (Goten down) and Cells power has been roughly estimated did Krillin "pull the plug" on himself, knowing this move is the only chance he has.

This series is my intro to dubs fan manga and it RULED! Both for the Krillin we deserve, a dynamic Goten, and a fascinating future timeline! Truly amazing!
