I love how authentic and real it is. Both of them are just being genuine and respecting each other. The fact he's asking questions like that without even having a peice of paper, more like go with the flow thing.
We will never see a collection like this again. Someone getting these shoes from relationships with people rather then spending thousands of dollars. Legendary shit
People are only going to have bigger collections over time expecially people who are significantly wealthier and more connected/famous than the mayor. Aka like Travis Scott, other rappers musicians and, the super rich.
@@Idiotsrevenge and thats whats wrong with sneaker culture. It became a status symbol. The moment you see someone like Kylie wearing dunks, its when you have to realize that sneakers culture isn't the same no more.
Shoezeum back in the Day! DJ Clark Kent, him and Mayor are good friends and share alot of the same sneakers. Kenny PerfectPair, the Sneaker Girls with over 6 thousand pairs, Big Boy Cheng. Still alot of crazy collections out there.
@@Idiotsrevenge difference between mayor and all those rappers is the passion. Them rappers are just buying shoes because it's hype it's the trend and they have money they want to flex on stage on social media, they don't do the effort and take the time to collect. Mayor did it for the culture the love of sneakers and true passion. Building such a collection is not only about the money it's about the relationship the passion the time the motivation, it will never be replicated
That we would be fire af! But unfortunately in our day n age when the money 💰wears the crown...it would take a board room full of old, out of touch, executives that have no interest (other than profiteering in order to secure their salary, vacation home, weekend mistress getaways, private flights 🛩 etc..) in doing something small for the culture, like a coffee table book for Mayor who has pushed the culture and the Nike brand forward for over 20 years. They would look at potential profits on this and say it would generate significant earnings in order for them to approve the licensing on that coveted Nike swoosh. If they were really devoted to pushing the culture...Mayor would have had his own shoe by now!!!! Fuck it!! He would've had his own Nike show all about sneakers 👟 !!!! I vote for MAYOR, Latinos stand up 🤟🏽
Listen man... I’m from nyc and was around for this sneaker culture from the beginning. But no one has a collection like mayor or Clarke Kent only because if you weren’t around in nyc at the time idc how many Jordan’s you have or hype shoes you might have. Does not compare to 1of1 or the bespoke era or Nike making shoes for you. This brings back so many memories man. Big up to both y’all. Stay up and stay blessed.
I fuckin agree bro. I’ve been following him since middle school when I started spending time on line for sneakers in 2003. I’m here now this is art. Mayor is a artist. That room is a museum and now he bout to share it with the world
Ya this needs to be on Netflix. I can totally see Jaysse and Mayor getting atleast a mini series or short documentary. Jay built a huge successful brand & business; I can so envision it and wouldn't be surprised if it happened.
Mayor has sneakers that you’d literally never find anywhere else. Sneaker 1 of 1s, sneakers directly given to him from Nike, hands down the greatest collection of all time.
Tremayne Hackshaw ... People grow up and prioritise other things in life. What’s the point in sitting on a million dollars worth of sneakers when you can sell them and look after your family. He’s enjoyed the collection, now it’s time to move on. Not like he’s going to take them to the grave is he.
Its been over a year this video was uploaded and i can genuinely say it will never get played out! The history behind all this is truly amazing. We need an update video with mayor with all the new shoes he has purchased since then i think it would make another banger video, stay blessed legends.
Just at the beginning of the video, and he said the sale is to get space for something else......Come on Mane ! I don’t know how this dude ,who’s identity IS all those shoes, is gonna get rid of 30 years of what he loves -for space. If it’s for a family situation, Salute ! Otherwise- I’m sorry I don’t know what dude is doing
I got nothing but respect for Mayor because the passion and love for shoes has always been there. He knows the names of every single pair of shoes he owns and knows the history behind it. He likes what he likes and doesn't look for someone's approval on it. Although, he did go through a stage of flexing but then again, he also earned that right to do so. Now he speaks from a humble place and wants to give someone else a chance to enjoy what he once did or buy something you won't ever see again. His collection is 1 of 1. Although I'm not the biggest fan of air force 1s, I got to respect the abundance and history.
ive watched this from start to finish and made feel happy and sad. I loved it . seeing a course of history of acquiring, making and building this collection through YEARS. Really got me and looking my little collection and thinking of each memory I had with each shoe I don't have anymore or too small to wear. collecting memories and not thinking of prices and how much it cost to get them. the value each shoe and what you experience with that moment of getting that shoe, creating, and bonds. So dope to see the raw footage of it and made me cry and appreciate what I have. thank you for that
Mayor is a real sneaker God Father. Much love and respect for the both of you dudes. This is what hard work, dedication, commitment, networking, communication, and being loyal gets anyone if your willing to put your all into it. Respect!!!
Mayor is sleeping on an opportunity as we speak. If I was him, I’d write a book right now. With his connects, he’ll get many sneaker shops that will be willing to push it for him and enough people on YT and in the community who will hype up the book. Imagine a detailed book of mayors life in the sneaker world and all of his experiences and stories. How the culture has changed/evolved over the years. I’d be so down to read that book.
@@commonsense1193 i was about to say. like i like shoes but not sneaker head level to the point i would read an entire book about the shoe industry? but also i would totally read something like that with street wear. the thing i dont like about sneaker collections is why collect something that is meant to be used and instead never use them? or if you do you only do it one time but i know most sneaker collectors dont ever wear the shoes they collect they just store them or display them.
There are many books for sneaker heads that came out and did very well. And you know, most would buy it just to have as part of the piece in their collection.
Great job showcasing the man, the myth, the legend that is Mayor. This is history and the impact this has and that Mayor has had on the sneaker culture is indescribable. Any body that has followed Mayor knows “it’s not just sneakers”. It’s been a gateway and lesson on investing, building relationships, taking care of your loved ones, and just having fun being yourself. Can’t wait to see what else is in store for the Mayorverse. ✌🏽
I've seen his collection many times over the years and it never gets old. There's def not another collection around like Mayor's. People use legend, iconic, GOAT, classic, etc. so loosely nowadays, but this collection is truly legendary! Shouts to Mayor for letting UN sell the stuff he can no longer wear - that's major major love!
I mean... it’s just him sitting in an office chair talking about getting rid of the collection for 2 hours and the rest of it is actually showing off the shoes
They're not not boring. Being a sneaker OG doesn't automatically make you a legend. Admire the hustle, but this dude is nothing without the shoes he "collected".
@@AG.85 I had all these points in the back of my head, especially when he got real disrespectful when it came to the line campers, not sure if this derives from the NY mentality but disrespectful none the less
gorskface yeah you can look at it from that perspective. But if you wanna think about it like that then nobody is anything w out everything they done. He is really a legend because he took the step to do all of this. Just like every famous person. If they didn’t do what they did they would be nothing. Like he said. There will never be another mayor. His collection is unique
I don't even have a proper sneaker in my collection still watch ur channel Amazed to see this mayor gave a small hint about this on complex I guess Much love n respect
I truly enjoyed. I keep telling people now.... If Mayor and I wore the same size shoes.....I would visit your store and have those WBF's and the Borough Pack in those special boxes with the master case back on a flight to NC. Appreciate this collectors what TwoJ's is giving access to the WORLD to see
Also his trainer, Air max and other misc kicks was fire too. I'd see so much lo key heat in the background that would never get recognized in those videos smh lol.
I dont know much about sneakers but I found this so interesting. I can't believe the heritage, the trust and love there is. Love the story that has been told and the story to come.
The Denim AF1s are fire!!! When Mayor talked about not being able to collab and then said "I'm not famous", I feel like I would probably never want to meet those "famous" people, but I'd love to meet the Mayor and shake his hand! Dude is pure heart and joy to the sneaker community!
I'm not gonna lie I really enjoyed watching this. I mean I didn't sit and watch the whole thing in one sitting but I paused and played it here and there but I finally watched the whole video. I really really enjoyed it man!! This was dope to watch! So thank you Two J's!! Can't wait to see more in the future and I hope you do go to Russia some day my brotha!! 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷💪💪
Man this is one of the best videos I've seen on a long long time. I can't recall the last time I watched a 2 and a half hour video that kept me so engaged the entire time. Man this was sad to while at the same time inspiring hearing all the amazing stories Mayor had to share. And lastly it's so good to see TwoJs back on youtube and I can't wait to see what collection he does next
i can't even imagine the amount of time and work behind this collection...You The Sneaker GOD..Bless up can't wait to get my hands on any one of these.
Watchu mean ...Sean's collab was deserved and hes got passion for the culture not just the sneaker game but MAYOR does deserve one as well as a tribute for his contribution to shoe game .
@@MiguelMendez-sd9xi I feel like he’s in the game to make money. Mayor actually got involved with the culture and made an impact. Definitely like Mayor better.
Legendary. The word that fits this whole experience perfectly. There is noone like mayor. There never will be again. Long live the 👑 king. Even with all these pairs leaving. He's still the greatest. Jay thank you for doing this. This was amazing. You're the young 👑 up and coming. Again legendary
I can’t front. When I saw this video for the first time I shed a tear because when I started collecting this man was and still is a legend so watching the video tore me apart.
Love how humble he is bout all the sneakers he doesn’t care about the money if he could fit them he wouldn’t sell for any price he genuinely loves shoes
This video was amazing, thank you two j's kicks for taking the time, effort and energy to create this documentary. Your appreciation for this collection is beyond belief. This was crazy! But you did it. Congrats and my hat off to you my friend.
I finally watched it through one sitting. I'm the same Decade's old as Mayor. And This is the best sneaker History of a man with just a passion for Sneakers l can relate to. Plus have always been a AF1 lover. What a Momentous Event. You are all Legendary!!!
This collection gives me goosebumps.. Just bought another pair of white on white AF1s because I miss my forces. Thanks Mayor for letting us into your collection.
When asked how many pairs of Air Force said “600 or 700 pairs... yeah it’s bigger than some peoples collections” Me sitting here with 8 sneaker rotation 🙃 18:15
@Bare Knuckle Its not about the shoes making you happy. It's about the designs, the artwork, the stories, the materials, and the aesthetics of the shoes and how it catches the eye. We don't collect because it makes us happy we collect because it is art and we hold value as they are all special pieces of a moment in time and taste similar to a photograph that brings back memories.
@Bare Knuckle when Mayor made the comment about the skippy shoes and he would never be like that again was his trigger. It definitely is a mental thing for him. Listening to him talk and also seeing his IG he seems a bit insecure.
@@Dikwili they're just shoes to YOU! You could've grown up not being able to afford shit and now you're grown you don't want to just let go of something you worked so hard for. Its sad. You weren't connected to those 100 js thats why lol
@@kingburtonhd3396 you don’t know me at all. I did grow up not being able to afford Jordan’s or even damn nikes. So don’t go around thinking you know people dude. I had some of those shoes for 20+ years brand new in the box because I loved them so much. People like you should refrain from opening this mouth and letting their fingers type dumb shit. When real life causes you to sell things that are just lying around to fix your god damned house, then you do big boy things. So STFU and take your mind reading shit somewhere else.
One of the best informative videos that I've watched on RU-vid and I don't even really wear trainers. I love crazy shoes but this video made me wish I got in there. The greatest collection ever...
This dude is amazing, straight up. This collection probably won’t never be seen in no one house again. At least years from now his collection is CRAZY OVER 1.5 MILLON.
I seriously feel like crying I love sneakers so much and seeing his collection is like dam my whole life I dreamed of a collection but could never afford unless I did something negative to get the money and now I'm older with a family and still cant have a collection because every dollar I make goes to survival but it's amazing to see someone else live their sneaker dream maybe 1 day I'll get lucky after working my ass off to have a collection like this
Eh. It was alright. This was a 2.5 hour video and they probably talked about getting rid of the collection 90% of it instead of actually showing off most of the shoes.
This was an incredibly long video but I loved watching it. I binged the entire video and although I am not a sneaker head like you fellas, I do have a passion for them and it was surreal to see so many gems that have never been seen by so many. Great video.
@@HaightTheGreat The cool kicks dudes sorta do it already. It's going to be a few more years until our bricks become heat of tomorrow. And with all the retros...
Y'all should sign the shoe boxes from "the Mayor Collection" or send out cards or sumthin so people can identify this particular collection! & folks can post on their social media & what not!!!
Imagine a level that can't be replicated & to stare at shoe's you can't wear. Then decide to dismantle is just a level beyond what some think is a collection then it's really not even close. Mayor is basically untouchable the storylines behind the shoes are irreplaceable.
It's not I had a homie who was tapped in with the kicks like this. Treated Dem Ho3z like they was Keys coming cross the border. When u plugged in ain't about the money!
As I’ve followed mayor for years almost a decade, it’s crazy to see this go to you twojs. To me he is the greatest to do it, Thank you for filming this! I had to refill my popcorn two times. I can’t wait to own a couple pairs! Mayor will always be #UNFUCWITHABLE Just finished the video from start to finish. To see the truck pull away was sad. And then to see his photo from IG with the Grand closing wow.
