@@Talyrion Honestly i think that goes for a lot of extremist groups and individuals, doesn't matter whether it's religious or political or even something else. They'll identify a real problem but suggest completly disproportionate solutions and because of that people dismiss their solutions (which they should) but in the process they also dismiss their problem as being just as crazy or not real which i think is a mistake. The reason why i think it's a mistake is that if you dismiss their problem you won't be able to identify what's causing them to think their solutions are justified. I don't believe those things come out of nowhere. There's usually a source of hurt somewhere down the line fueling the fire behind their motivations and discovering that is key to addressing and disarming it. It might sound like i'm being overly sympathetic to extremist groups, but trust me that's not what this is about. This is about being pragmatic and actually finding long term sustainable solutions to problems that cause massive damage to people and i'd just like to add that while these extremist groups or individuals might identify a real problem their explanation as to what is the source or who's to blame is often just as crazy and wrong as their proposed solutions. The only thing they're "right" about is that they've identified a problem but that's exactly why it should be taken seriously so that it can be handled by more moderate people rather than being left to the extremists who are the only ones willing to address the issue otherwise. @@Talyrion To be fair, I think the point is that humanity is so hopeless that good natured solutions are so often ignored and not taken serious. I can understand what Armstrong means cause as a species, humans can be so stupid that reason is lost and literally the only solution to solve a problem is the extreme. Can you truly say human beings would change if we ask nicely? Of course not. Cause things like social media spread ideals and endorses fucked up behavior, things like Hollywood make people blind to think for themselves and only follow trends, politicians rising up not for the good of the nation but for their own power same with democratic elections where people vote for whoever creates the biggest circus over the good of the nation. Humanity as a whole fails on so many levels as thinking beings that Armstrong believes we need the extreme as peaceful solutions never seem to work out the problems of a society. Cause instead of even trying to solve them, we rather go around and check the newest blogs and fashion trends Hollywood comes up with and even if there is a movement, people only follow it as a trend. Hence the BLM movement and how many people voiced their support and the far majority just returned to their lives after a a short while like it was a trend to follow. And even during the BLM peak, we had youtubers voice support only to return to gaming and other videos. Basically: Tuber: HOLDS A BIG SPEECH ON BLM Followers: YEAH, BLACK LIVES MATTER! Here, we have Armstrong being unhappy about the current status quo (understandable), and deciding that the cure is to turn the country into Mad Max (batshit insane).

@@mantisr818 You could see Collective Conciousness as the facade that Armstrong puts on to hide his true motivations and also what he thinks of other politicians.

What's also fitting is how they both gradually drop their masks as the fight progresses until at the end they both go full "I just want you dead" mode, which is symbolized by what Raiden says when he draws the muramasa sword and by Armstrong taking of his glasses (which he never does at any other point, including the DLC). Also, I can't think of a better combo than the muramasa sword and Jack the Ripper. The two of them are truly on the same wavelength and it turns Raiden into just as much of a monster as Armstrong is in terms of fighting capability.

Raiden encompasses many of the ideals of the winds of destruction already, right from the start of the game. It takes him a while to get used to this. Afterwards, he merely aims for a different goal.

Imma be honest, although he’s a senator, looks/sounds like a typical American, and was the shoo-in for 2020’s presidential election, he’s not a solid representation of current America. He’s a hell of a lot more idealistic about “Freedom”, and he even says “Fuck American Pride” since that seems to get in the way of fighting for what you truly believe in, not what others have conditioned you as what’s “right”

@laz kar armstrong is right because Raiden himself agrees with him in the lyrics of the song "has be this way", in the end when before amrstrong dies he mentions that "both are of the same coin from different sides"(it was what gave to understand). What makes armstrong the wrong one in the story it is by the method to achieve his dream and, in the credits he shows Raiden going to fight his own war for what he believes, are Sam and armstrong kept telling him to do.

@laz kar Armstrong's ideology is definitely fucked up. But he is right in a sense or way. He is in my books, an anti villain. He's doing what he thinks is right, but in the cost of others. And that's where the fault lies. His hypocrisy. He speaks for those he cannot relate to and assumes their role and beliefs falsely. He claims to understand the weak yet hes never been disadvantaged. His approach to ending war, achieving world peace, and creating a land of freedom and uncontrollable people, is created through the exact opposite ideals and methods. He does have a point in what he says, and his intentions are good, but as raiden says, _You're batshit insane!_ The fact is, no matter how good the destination, the method of travel matters much more.

He picked them up partially, but I doubt he'd have the same approach as Armstrong even with how messy he is upstairs at times and he's also partially picked up Sam's realizations about higher causes and how their generally just half hearted justifications. I wish we'd get a game from Sam's perspective set in his time with Desperado, I've always had a hunch Sam was one of the only Winds past maybe Monsoon that saw through Armstrongs fake personality and beliefs he was throwing around during the Excelsus fight.

Good god I hope he at least does Sam's DLC, it was a fucking master piece and really helped flesh out the game, part of why Armstrong and Sam are still floating around as both memes and serious characters in combination with various codec information and little interesting quips. It's still interesting to me how the winds and the game in general seem plotted out in a sort of maturity scale, you start out fighting Sundowner with Sam boredly waiting through his theatrics and rhetorical questions, then Minstral whose a strange very angry child soldier and doesn't have a whole lot to say, then Monsoon whose got a lot to say though it's mostly overshadowed by the meta joke of nobody knowing the actual definition of meme or where that word came from one with one last visit to Sundowner and the game rapidly goes up from there. (Though to be fair if your paying attention and having Codec calls periodically which Myth seemed to have none at all sadly, the whole games got a lot of serious thought to throw around that's basically optional and hell even the endgame you can just totally ignore what everyone's trying to say and just laugh and fight instead.)
