been out of the mix with injury and health issues for a while now -- and this was such an inspiration to me. about halfway through couch to 5k which can be really a slog after having done triathlons and such, but thanks for all of this. i'm ready to hurt again in all the right ways. much love from illinois.
Excellent! Cam Wurf is probably one of the more less known pro triathletes... but seriously... one the most amazing endurance athletes out there. Super human and super humble... what a treat to listen to him.
Absolutely love Cam. An amazing asset for triathlon and personally, cannot wait to see him have 'that' race and prove everyone wrong. Would love him to take back the bike course record in Kona next year too.
57:01 - lols the Sun Yang story again: “I hadn’t swum up to that point” … except for the … check notes … whole of 2016 when he was trying to bridge into professional ironman and swam with the Tower 26 guys in LA amongst other things and … check notes again … swam a 51 minute 3.8km spilt at Ironman Cairns and a 49.52 split at IM Arizona (which was with the front pack). Cam spins a good yarn, but does embellish the story a bit along the way, lol
With Berkshire, Munger and Buffett have each accomplished a remarkable feat. They've made a lot of individuals rich by transforming thousands into billions. Reading Berkshire's annual letters helped me realize the market's potential. I recently sold my condo in the Bel Air neighborhood with the intention of investing the proceeds in the stock market. Crossing fingers!
Increased losses for portfolios are anticipated this quarter as a result of market drops, skyrocketing inflation, a large rise in interest rates by the Fed, and rising Treasury yields. Just a good FA will be enough to guide you through the current market volatility.
I've been in touch with a coach for a while now mainly because I lack the depth knowledge and mental fortitude to deal with these recurring market conditions. I made a good amount of earnings during this dip, which made it clear there's more to the market than we average joes know. Having an investment adviser is the best course of action right now, especially for near retirees.
@@Amybeth_T I'm going to look him up as well because I want to start with some excellent capital-it might not be much, but it's better than nothing. Considering that the 2008 crash is resurfacing.
I had been bitten by the Tri- bug in the late 1980's and moving to the Los Angeles area from the Pacific Northwest was wonderful for that. I lived and worked in Santa Barbara for 7 years and that was a great place to indulge myself with swimming (Los Banos and YMCA pools) running ( beach access) and cycling (hills to Camino Ceilo, San Marcos Pass, over into Ojai, or to Los Olivos or just routes down to Carpinteria and back.). Although I did miss having seasons and all that comes with that (skiing in winter in particular).
I met the Australians at the Worlds in Muskoka, Ontario Canada in 1992 (Mike Pigg etc) as a 42 year old slow age grouper. They are the best combination of professional and friendly gentlemen and women. Great attitute!!!
Another guy who also road at a very high level in cycling and afterwards did pretty well in triathlon for a bit was Steve Larsen. Didn't do both at the same time like Cam but still was an amazingly well rounded athlete.
@Rrichroll I always look forward to your podcast! Cam is an inspiration and not knowing him (i should I'm Australian living in NYC) If we all could take a little passion and enthusiasm from Cam, we all can improve and achieve our goals! thanks
Love this interview. I coach my autistic son, Sam Holness, he did Kona last year. Sam likes training just like Cam but it's challenging getting him to race to win. Cam, is training or winning more important to you? How do you change from train to train to train to race.
at 1:40 Lance Armstrong says you have been living under a rock if you have not heard of Ketones (quote from HMVN web site!) Glad you emerged from under the rock Cam!
I think Cam has a lot to offer but this was slightly superficial for us mere mortals when considering all of your Podcasts, Rich. I’m 60 and always listening to your show for helpful and motivational tips. The biggest tip I got was drink expensive ketones. I never was or will be at that level and it’s great to hear about Cam’s accomplishments but if I trained that hard I’d be laid out for 3 days or more. 😀 Keep up the great work and I would like to hear more out of energetic Cam concerning his training and nutritional program for sure. 👍
Dude, maybe you know Danelle "Nellie" Ballengee, top endurance athlete , won almost everything she entered - 441 events with 390 podium finishes - until she almost died. Alone in the desert for 3 days and 2 nights, with a broken pelvis, lying unsheltered and unable to move Alone, except for her dog. I think would be nice if you interviewed her.
. as a German Biologist - this is about Sun Tzu: „Fighting on Death Ground“ - with the pressure to fight for your Life without any other option left...
I think you’ll find Jumbo Visma is smashing INEOS these days. The egos of pros... Cam is impressive for his age but the best in the world are now out of his reach.
Jumbo Visma have hit the sweet spot with their GC and one day leader line up. INEOS have suffered because of Bernal’s long recovery from his horrific accident, and losing the likes of Van Baarl and Carapaz from the roster. however in terms of overall depth there still isn’t much in it, and there a very few guys in the pro tour peloton who can do the specific roles the team needs from Cam, even now. For example, last year at Roubaix his role was the shred the other teams in the first 160km - effectively from the first cobble section. INEOS was the only team that had all 8 riders make the critical selection, and van Baarl s competitors, including the Jumbo Visma guys, were on the back foot all day. This year, INEOS didn’t have a Van Baarl, and they’d lost one of their crucial classics guys shortly before Roubaix. Cam came into the team after a 100km run training week with a day’s notice, and his role was as a sweeper - yo-yo-ing between the peloton and the cars for drinks and to ride guys back into the bunch if they had flats or mechanicals - which he did twice. By default Ganna became the team leader and the team tactics were different - keep under the radar and hope that with 40km to go Ganna was in a position to do something if he had the legs. The team - especially Cam - executed their strategy perfectly, putting Ganna in the ride selection at the right time. HE didn’t quite have the legs but did finish fairly strongly for 5th (his best result so far).
Love the guest, great to listen. Podcaster should speak less, no need to affirm the obvious just for the sake of talking. When u have guest like this just listen and let the flow take over.
To say that athletes are now monitoring each other’s doping and keeping the sport honest is utterly laughable. Cam lost ALL credibility with those comments. How about we allow the banking sector to regulate themselves internally?!
The passport is deliberately weak. See 2021 paper by lead author Holly Cox. WADA is not using the best biomarkers. There are other proposed biomarkers in PubMed also.
What an amazing guest but I can only handle these in 10-15 minute segments as I can't stand how Rich just talks the whole time. Let your guest talk!!! I actually don't even know why he has guests. Just ask questions, have a poster of the guest there and then answer yourself. Would basically be the same interview.
if you see how excited Cam gets about Ketones , its not hard to see how these guys ( and girls) would easily jump on any EPO or other performance drug. We need to be real about this or all these conversations are just nonsense. I say let the drugs be legal and let these athletes race and lets see what happens. Triathlon and cycling seems rife with 'unbelievable' achievements ( the Norwegians , Flora Duffy , pogadjar and videgaard etc etc etc)...
Genetic differences seperate the best. Alistair Brownlee was always one step out of reach of his brother Jonny and they trained together. It’s not psychological,it’s physical.
Obviously talented! But not focussed on one sport so likely will never hit his potential. Sorry that's the harsh truth in 2023. I like when he said "Chris Froome won 3 TDFs after he started training with me" - really?
Sorry to say a lot of ego , self, nothing about endurance. This should be private between the two but not public. Thanks.stopped listening after 20 minutes.
Sorry to say the beginning is not clear what he wants to teach us?Very poor presentation. To be fit and healthy does not means he can teach. God bless him.
