The fact that the speedo drive unit is serviceable just shows how mechanics back in this era of cars thought differently. Instead of disposable "just replace the assembly" thinking, which was my reflex, we have a level of craftsmanship and frugal thinking. Amazing work, keep the videos coming!
@JethroBronner

Yeah back when things were built to be repaired. The speedometer in my 1999 GTV has stopped working and it's down to some electrical fault in a sensor and it's no longer manufactured.

@@duckylucky6505 oh yeah modern production QC and consistency is definitely far superior but it’s all usually assembly-based, which means the consumer cost is less for the craftsmanship/specialty labor and more for the parts and spelled out repair procedure. I know , had my 2 liter done back in 89 . Treat her well , fluids on top and...........every first 10 miles NO exess above 3000 rpm ! I consider Jethro's videos to be extremely well filmed and produced - most likely more effort in filming/producing the video than performing the actual restoration work. The only other RU-vid producer that I consider to be on a similar level is Soup Classic Motoring, however it’s a shame that Soup does not feature Alfa Romeos. However Soup's current project is a Lotus so I'm now hooked. Look forward to future videos that feature the wonderfully patinaed Giulia 1300.

Awesome that you restore the cars of my youth in the country of my youth. I miss both my father's Giulia Super, TP 4192, with 1750 motor and a few other mods, that I had access to in my late teens and early twenties - that was an awesome car and was purchased from Dawie de Villiers just days before he opened Glenwood Motors in Pretoria, plus the powder blue Alfetta 1.8 saloon, GWY 985 T which I purchased from him later. The latter was a rust box though, built by AR in the Brits factory, while the Giulia Super wasn't (built by Datsun in Rosslyn). Will be looking out for your valve-train reset video - that's a job I did with my dad a few times! Thank you for filming your hobby.
