Superb! Single click only when torquing. Remember the law of friction. A solid object moving against another solid object has less friction the faster it moves. The maximum friction occurs right before it’s put into motion. So, when using a torque wrench, the nut or bolt is in motion when it reaches the desired force causing the wrench to click, which means it clicked with less friction. When you go for the second click, it takes more force to put the nut or bolt in motion than when you reached your desired torque the first time. If you go for a second click just to make sure, you are not double checking the torque, but instead you’re just risking exceeding the torque you already achieved. One ping only Vasily!

Best tool porn ever! Seriously, your videos are a most wonderful life lesson. You begin with a desire to save a bit of history as an honor to those who built it. You put your all into it and get hit with an unknown, very bad problem. This hurts, after so much hard work. Most people stop here. They are spent, hurt, exhausted. Did Jethro stop? NO, this is where you shine. You re-group your thoughts, pause to recharge and formulate a better plan with the additional information you now have. The new diagnosis was brilliant. It was but one flaw that caused all the issues with the engine. Once you knew that, you charged on with even more confidence. The way you turn bad into good is so beautiful, a life-lesson very much needed in these hard times. Thank You Sir!

I wish I could do any of that- nicely done! I also like that this is not a stupid engine swap- the original engines are a huge part of what makes these cars fun and you really do not need 300hp for that.

I've gone through two engine rebuilds/renovations on my Series II 1750 GTV...I knew nothing about engines before...I didnt do the work on my own but I learned so much by being a part of it...this video so elegantly details how everything fits together and why. I would like to try my hand at a rebuild like this on my own now...The 105 Alfa Manual is actually really comprehensive, but what Jethro adds here are all his know how and tricks that only come with experience.

We sometimes in life fall into a situation that requires a reset. Thus is this 105 motor... A reset that establishes your future out here in the real world. Normally I would have questions after watching you.....but today I have a big smile on my face, and trying to come up with the proper compliments to give to you. Honestly your video is by all means a compliment to you..... Well done, hopefully you can provide a vid on the install and subsequent startup. Your efforts require the respect from all Alfa enthusiast out there... For sure you got mines....

Hi Jethro, really enjoy your channel and the way you approach adversities in the workshop. I've had several 105s for over 40 years now and one recurring thing I could never really sort out 100% was transmission vibrations. As you know the 105 driveline consists of many elements and they all need to be perfectly in line and balanced to have a totally smooth transmission. Maybe you can do a video about that one day. Thanks and keep up the great work.

In 1971 I purchased an Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 TI super. They were exceptional cars, their uniqueness was the sound of the engine, (my wife knew when I was parked at home) the acceleration, the cornering stability and when she accelerated the rear axle she rocked right left. I was 26 years old. After 32 years (I sold it in 2003) and after at least two restorations it didn't behave like this anymore. I have the road tests and the comments of the Quattroruote magazine and the Motor Books Alfa Romeo Giulia 1962-78. You did a perfect competition restoration with impeccable care. I would like to drive it again with the scent of the new car and the scent of rubber and leather. Thanks for the video.

Jethro, thanks for that build. I decided not to go ahead with my Super 1600 resto as I came to the realisation before I started that I couldn't do it justice. The body shell had little rust and I had enough spare parts for the interior, engine etc but a long term project without a full size garage would have risked the car. It's therefore great to see a thorough and conscientious build.
