I think the mistake was not hiding his scout when he knew he was going late feudal, no scout later on means he never has a chance at spotting what is coming forward.

I watched Yo stream his pov and he realized pretty quickly that this could be some fast imp monk clownery when Dragonstar stayed longer in dark age and he was like god no I don't want to deal with that, need to do something 1111. I don't remember if he expected a castle, maybe he was trying to collect more xbows before hopping over the wall but when he scouted the castle foundation, he had to go and he wasn't sure himself if he could get there in time to do damage

Imagine if people double walled for fear of seige towers. Then imagine if you packed a seige tower full of seige towers in anticipation of this. Imagine all the seiging those seige towers could do, running around seiging things.

I have seen a monk push work well, if you get enough damage in then there's a chance - it's possible the siege tower swung this game for Yo

This is a known strategy for Dragonstar, especially when he did this to Viper in DWL and actually won the game...... funny thing was viper was going for his own monk rush but in castle age.... so... VULULU VULULU

one of my best games was where the dude had walled half the map and was guarded and towered to hell, but 1 spot in the corner i snook a siege tower over, dropped a castle, TC and docked him. then all of a sudden 60 conqs and trebs attack from inside his base.

always easy to say in hindsight, but a couple outposts could have had a huge impact because the monks could've tracked the scouts and have easier conversions.
