First off, I want to acknowledge Erica‘s trauma. I pray that she finds healing. However, I have noticed throughout this interview she has tried very hard to bring up certain situations of her past to reflect how she is innocent in her wrongdoings currently, for example bringing up how she studied Dancehall and then referencing it to I’ve always been culturally fluent is her way of trying to make people understand that she doesn’t have anything against the race which she called spice a monkey she wants to defend her wrongdoings racially profiling with her past
@medi8057
@medi8057 7 месяцев назад
I come from a culture where calling someone a monkey is normal. But it’s mostly used by adults towards obnoxious children or super rowdy people. I genuinely didn’t know this was a racial slur until a couple of years ago. But this 304 is a whole different story. Her ex husband is black and all the people around her are black. There’s absolutely no way she didn’t know that’s a racial slur she’s just back peddling and trying to make herself look innocent. The worst part is that she’s a grown ass woman with a 16 or 17 year old son. Her behavior is completely unacceptable

I know Erica - personally - hope she's stays traumatized she flipped a table (or tried to) flip it on a woman that had came close to death with her surgery. Idc about any hard luck stories she had a platform to focus on that but she wanted to use the space to tear down a black man she tormented!

As a mom my heart breaks thinking of the trauma that she dealt with as a child especially starting so young from birth. The first 5 years of a child’s life are so fragile and I can only imagine how that trauma must have rewired her brain. But with that said, I feel like she keeps mentioning being exposed to different cultures as a sneaky way of laying the groundwork in this interview to say “See, I’m not racist, I grew up around black people”. My intuition is telling me that she’s not being genuine. She was vulnerable when speaking about her trauma but then she puts the mask back up when she starts trying to laugh about things and make jokes etc. It’s actually all very sad. I hope that she’s somehow able to heal and hopefully change.

She’d be respected more if she would just say, “I knew exactly what I was saying and I did it because at that point all gloves were off because she hit below the belt by talking about my mothering! It was not said because I am racist, that was an isolated insult I used purposely to hurt her to her core, because she hurt me to mine. Im so sorry to all and any black people who were personally offended…that insult was EXCLUSIVELY for that person. It was a horrible decision, made out of utter anger and hurt.

After going through what I went through I finally understand Erica Mena. Being a mom and a baby mom that shit is tough and when people tear you down and you have to stand ten toes down by yourself and having so much exposed to the public, that's very hard and traumatic. For people to attack you constantly as a parent and as a woman when you're going through what other women are going through it's heartbreaking. Not making any excuses but I can definitely say people handle situations differently and I have lashed out to hurt people not caring who I hurt.

The only thing I really felt bad about was her sexual abuse as a child that really broke my heart. There is nothing I hate more than to hear about an innocent child being violated worse crime ever! Hopefully she heals from that trauma. She still needs to take accountability for her despicable adult behavior.
@dysontaylor3838
@dysontaylor3838 7 месяцев назад
Yeah she definitely does need to take accountability for actions. I'm a victim of sexual abuse as a child myself at a very early age of 4 years old and had a lot of anger issues growing up similar as how she explained her trauma, but I'd never would wish r*pe on someone or on their children no matter how upset someone makes me. Especially knowing how triggering that could be for anyone told to or around others who may have overheard. I don't think I'd be able to even forgive myself saying something like that to anyone. So, for her to use her past trauma for sympathy for her racist and death wish comments she'd said to Spice is uncalled for. She really should have just started with trying to have an interview with Spice herself and start off with an apology and talk things through with her, and whether Spice forgives her or not, at least Erica could walk away with a peace of mind that she's taken full accountability for she's said and done and move forward in life with a much clearer conscious.

i do, and you are a 100% correct but what you need to understand is that BW pick and choose when to apply the rules. Like you said, ''you come for my kinds, all bets are off''. This is literally one of the main rules that BW live by. However..because this was a situation where it was a BW crossing the line with a non BW...they change the rules for the scenario and somehow made the BW that bad guy in that situation. So much respect to you as a BW to be able to speak the truth regardless of being a BW yourself. Yes, Spice was 100% wrong and caused that whole situation.

Saying that you take accountability doesn’t mean you’re TAKING ACCOUNTABILITY🗣️ I watched this whole interview and she did pull at my heartstrings for a second here and there, and I’m sorry to hear all of the things she’s been through. But ALL WOMEN have endured trauma. ESPECIALLY BLACK WOMEN AND MEN. But she’s also caused a lot of her own heartbreak. Like being with Safaree KNOWING what kind of man he was and SEEING HIM with an acquaintance of hers when they were dating. And him STILL trying to holla at her. I see her trauma and I raise her some accountability put into action instead of words.

Carlos I think this interview with Erica was incredibly premature because she hasn’t had enough time to sit in self reflection of her actions (her role in her divorce and racist comments). There hasn’t been enough evolution in her life journey for viewers to gain inspiration from her story. I think you dropped the ball with this one and bought into the hype. This interview lacked the depth we typically enjoy in your interviews because we do not think she’s misunderstood; she lacks emotional maturity. It’s just sad to see that she is still lacking.

This is a prime example of how your emotion can ruin everything you’ve built. I know what was said to her so painful, especially being a mom. But there are certain lines you cannot cross in this community because we paid for the right to police our dignity with our blood sweat and tears. And no matter what and in spite of everything, once you lose our respect, there’s no re-respecting you. I feel bad because that woman came for her motherhood which is so personal, but when you come for our universal dignity, you’re done. She got baited to be hated and it’s sad.

Spice is innocent it’s crazy, how we will pinpoint a situation, but not speak. The truth speak the truth on the insecurities as black women we often have when it comes to women of other races and black men speak the truth on that even I have had to address this, we can’t scapegoat Erica and not hold spice 100% accountable for this entire event and I adore Spice. I love her music but that particular incident was out of pocket and out of order and you don’t tell someone how to respond because if you talk about my child it’s going down.

This interview is very disturbing, i had to watch it in segments its been out 7 days and im only 20mins in. I promise you there are many women (black white latino asian etc) who have had trauma, but they don't go around saying hateful things. And if they do they too should be held accountable. At some point you have to acknowledge your trauma does not forgive your bad behavior. The world is not responsible for what happened to you.

@@bajanb3auty2nv I'm not saying it should be used as an excuse, she knows she messed up , she has to sit in it and deal with the consequences. Also , therapy helps you see things from a different perspective which kicks starts the healing process, but it takes years and years to fully heal your inner self and completely change all aspects of your life for better.

I was halfway into this and can tell this girl is FOS. She may have gone through all of what she talked about, but she doesn't hold herself accountable for any of her mess. I admit Carlos King did a good job trying to keep a poker face and not call her stuff out. Write a book Erica! She did the right thing by starting with her mother's childhood to show where the dysfunction started...very strategic.

My heart goes out to her childhood. We cannot choose how we are raised or what we were exposed to. Excellent strength in pushing through and always trying to strive for the best in life. I remember her from Chis Browns (Yo, excuse me miss) music video. And then L&HH. She is entertaining and funny. Also, down to earth and have a past that explains a lot of what we see. Mistreatment from people, men especially. Rooting for you and Here showing love. Flaws and all, You’re an inspiration ❤
