Using mana pots on a es sorc is the dumbest gm rule I ever seen sorry. Still love ya bro but in my world gm duels you can't use mana pots on a es sorc. It's the same thing as using health pots honestly.

Many moons ago I rocked a 200fcr/142fhr pvp fire sork (dual spirit, 20fcr hat and amulet, Viper armor, sweet tri-res/fhr rare boots). Was a lot of fun but could be totally neutered by Hotspurs+Dwarf ring.
I left it out on this one, as I thought it didn't really matter much having only 23% total and went for the 20fcr instead. Figured we'd switch to mb if we ever needed DR. Bugged version does this for sure, though :P It's a lot easier to work 50%DR in with that build haha
I had pretty much all pvp builds back in the old days of D2 and I do remember I had a 200fcr es fire sorc. Most fun was hybsin, Smiter, Boner nec, trang set poison nec fun vs melee sry for my bad english. I had tons of hld lld and mld chars on 6 accs.
You still should try an ES Nova build. With ES if you get to the 95% absorb it actually is 100% damage taken to mana until your mana is gone. Max block, max nova, max lit mastery, max TK, get ES to 95% then 1 frozen armor and rest to warmth. Get as many lit mastery gcs and +mana scs. Its very effective. EDITED IN: theres a runeword called Memory. If you get it with a +3 energy shield base it will become a +9 energyshield runeword when made. It saves many skill points
Joris de Gouw it caps out at 95% but like i said that 95% is basically 100. Skill allocation is 20 nova, 20 lit mastery, 20 telekinesis, enough into ES to hit 95% ( +9 memory makes this easy, just use cta before for the extra +1 skiller ) 1 warmth, 1 thunderstorm (hits for like 3-5k with only 1 hard point) 20 lightning, rest into chain lit or charged bolt.
dump a super high lvl chant on a multishot bowazon and you get volley of deadly arrows XD....prob can snag firewall on top of enchant....20 telekinesis...1 es....20 wall....20 chant..20 warmth....20 fire mastery...you get even more mana regen with lvl 20 warmth XD.....wall and chant both synergize with warmth so ya....
Hey my friend if you want I'll show you how to build a Frozenorb/es sorc build with which u'll have 5k+ mana and about 1k orb dmg. U'll be able to outtank any hammerdin
Probably not good for PvP, but I remember that the two theoretically tankiest legit builds were a certain barb build and a ES sorc with lots of flat damage reduced by X gear. Rarely ever see that one, tried it one time but it was a real pain to get the items you want since almost nobody keeps items with the highest rolls of that mod unless the item is godly already, so there was a huge issue with lack of "middle tier" items before you can afford the best.
I have yet to complete the game on ssf hardcore with sorc :/ . Last time i went ES ... flew thru the game feeling near immortal and then i got slaughtered by the ancients on hell. It was a close fight and i almost had them but then i got clipped by the whirlwind guy and he hit me three times in a row and i died.
I had actually spoken of that point about Hoto but cut the footage, as I figured it was too long-winded! But a very good point. I'm actually considering Whitstan's in version 2 (BTals version). But it may not jive with the necessary items to reach 105% cast and still hit max DR :(
It depends on a lot, but 200 fcr sorcs often don't have many options when it comes to switching gear for different matchups. I would highly recommend an ES sorc over a regular vita FB sorc for survivability in PvP :)
@@Coooley After thinking a bit I had two other quick questions. (i) You mentioned in the vid that using a 2/20 ammy can go a long way. How so? Only thing I can think of is it lets you cut an arachs and soj for a 10 fcr ring and verdungos. So you basically swap 30% mana and 2 skills for ring mods, 40 vit, 15 dr, some repl, and 10 fhr. That 10 fhr lets you use a 5 fhr sc instead of 12 fhr gc to hit bp. The two setups seem to give roughly similar life + mana totals, so I guess the argument is that the @ res on ring, dr, and having more life is enough to justify the -2 skills? (ii) Why fireball over firebolt? Dont you want to conserve your mana with this build?
@@chrisbrowne4695 great questions man. For the first, i think it depends on the matchups. If you don't need DR, you're 100% right. Damage takes precedence. For the second one, if you put a pt into warmth and divide your stat points between vita and energy, fireball costs next to nothing and won't end up costing much mana. At that point, the hit box and splash damage is far better than fire bolt
You make a decent guide video most of the time and you have pretty good knowledge about the game but was frustrating to me is every time you do one of these guides you’ve got like your whole fucking Inventory full of these perfect charms and shit like fuck in 40 life skill GC’s and Tony life resist all small charms I mean why don’t you make a realistic fucking video? Her Coooley, the damage you take with ES on your mana is calculated without resistenz and dr, only the damage on your Life is calculated the normal Way. Also Fhr only comes in effect if your losing 1/12 of your Health. If your running a High ES Resistenz and dr are less importent. Fhr should only apply if your out of Mana, still important tho. Your setup is a low ES i would guess around 80 %. A High ES-Setup: 5 Hard Points in ES everything else stays the same. You need pre Cast Eq to get your Es to lvl 40 where ES gets max Absorb of 95. All points Energie. With a good Setup You get 1.1 k life 5k mana. Only weakness is OW with 1.1k life your down to 1 health with 2 hits. Some life replenish can real help.
As I'm a lazy person, i didnt go through the comments. :) did anyone mention that you should reach like 2k life 3kmana ~ as hybrid ES. certain amount of life equals more initial dmg needed of the opponent to FHR you. i cant give 100% givens at this time, since ive just picked up the game again and realized a few things have changed, so currently im figuring out myself. cheers
No sorceress can stand before the BM blaze sorceress. Fun fact. If you travel far enough away, blaze disappears. Its still active, but the animation is gone. So what you do is go full blaze build, equip -fire res gear, and prepare to wreck everyone. Cast blaze and run in circles right outside of town, or someone's body, or the cold plains waypoint. Stack it up a bit and teleport 3 screens away. Invisible fire dealing stupid high damage, with like -60 fire res or something. Instant death.
I'm currently working on a max es Blizzard sorceress. My charms I'm planning to use is cold/dex. Adding dex allows me to reach max block faster. I'm a max block guy also! Might sound odd but I'm planning to use Enigma because it will save me any str I would need for other gear. For my build I'm going for 100% Energy shield and Telekinesis. My Blizzard won't be as much so maybe 2-3 Blizzards when I would normally need 1-2. However my mana pool is going to be insane. I'm going for Clash belt, Weave boots, the same gloves as you. Then Wizzy Spike for more mana and cast speed. Nightwing for more dmg to make up for wizzy not having skills. Sojs and I'm thinking going cheap with maras. Fcr not 105 so 1 tier lower then max. Fhr I'm using sc with fhr. My views on this build is it will make those who name lock question if they really want to do that with such a tank. As well name locking better for a Blizzard sorceress. Tactics is very hit and run, nail with a Blizzard and Tele away as you Reagan mana. Try to bait people into Blizzard and this build has a little hidden gem I'd like to leave out 😀 I like this build a lot though
I don't think Dr applies to es. Just like poison CB and ow doesn't go to es. Also you only need fhr if a large enough percentage to life is taken so more mana and 40 es is worth a try. It's also worth a try to run whitstans instead of ss for the lower strength req and less DeX points to mb. 40 es is under rated imo, on west ladder I have mb 4.6 k mana and 40 es. Let me know if you want to tinker on my sorc as I don't play anymore.
for energy shield, besides poison resist, are max resists worth it for the damage that gets through? Energy shield takes damage before resists, including physical resists. Almost would be better to stack poison length reduction since it goes through ES, no?

Does CTA staff have to be plus three to es? Making it plus 4 with bo. This is the only question I need answered fast!!!!! I see +2 es staff CTA out on jsp for D2R but there only a few. i love how new your treating this haha, ive been playing this sine 2010 even a 200 fcr variation. with a legit setup you can end up with 5k mana 1k life and dont skip energery shield skills in that case. you should also put all points into energy. 95% of damage can be absobed to es with max.
@17:27 Vs PNB Necro W/ Hotspurs I looked it up to see why hotspurs would even be mentioned (Max fire res and fire res) But now I have another question, why can only Necros and Zons use them in gm duels? I know nothing about dueling in D2 btw.
ES sorcs are absolute tanks that can just wear down most pvp builds. Spurs sort of even the playing field in that matchup, as it's hard enough for a necro to even catch a Sorc with bone attacks
Back in the days I used to build her with enigma for no strenght point (+80-/90 points in energy instead)/max es instead of maxing damage with gspur/fletch but pure vita fire sorc are the best SvS. For overall set-up i'd say ES is better. Cool video!
This build looks really fun. If people stack sorb, do they become immune to fire damage? I'm thinking of trying this out but I don't want to get hard countered by people in pub duels
The good thing about fire damage is it's the hardest one to completely absorb (even if people are trying to BM they have to really go over the top). Hell, even 85 fire res plus dwarf still ain't enough to nearly stop everything.
That's good enough for me, as long as I don't easily get 100% sorbed then I'm happy. I'm guessing for someone to go full immune, they'd have to swap all their gear specifically for that, in which case someone else in the lobby could just kill them. All stats to energy, no max block, 40+ life skillers, life/mana sc’s. Give up some damage for a hard point into ES. No max block, MAXIMIZE ENERGY. No vita.
We tried this with 4-5 different setups before reaching this conclusion. 2/3 split is far better. All energy just means you'll end up dying with tons of mana left.
@@Coooley That won't happen if you go for full es precast and get 95% es. This is achivable with only 6 or 7 points into es with fully equipped precast. Also with the right gear, you can achieve up to around 5.6k mana
@@HardstylePodcastz no doubt but we can't precast from the stash in gm pk (it's annoying anyway). And we will have sacrifice points into fire synergies if we go that high on ES unfortunately :-/

This build has been around since they introduced synergies. But the correct way to build it is to put the 20 hard points into telekinesis,no points into ES and use +9 ES staff,swap gcs for light gcs,then all plus light gear you can get 95 ES this way. When i used to pub stomp, I always brought in my bo barb and had like 9k mana. Was unstoppable until someone absorbed ya. You want the 200 fcr and not the 105

Sad that Ladderhall and all the other old sites are gone now :( "Nasa material" is a tad dramatic and I wouldn't call it "pure math" just because no one actually did the math on most things... It was almost entirely empirical testing. It's good that you never got the hang of it as it was mostly a waste of time. Hours and hours of testing to go into a game and "rub up on one another like a pair of horny/thorny sheep".

I was mostly over at ShadowDiablo, and believe me, the mock discussions towards when I left the scene... I still stand by it being almost all math and discussion about how different things affected other things. Some of the guides were pages upon pages...

Back when I left the scene, ShadowDiablo was relatively new and seen as a ripoff site because it was literally reposting clones and info ripped from LH/JoT. Therefore you would know better what was actually there, but Old friends/acquaintances like "Warbandit" and Lloyd wrote the original .11 PI guides. In retrospect I guess it was arrogance from our side; openly shared information is much better for a community than the shadowy espionage and subterfuge culture LH had.
