There's nothing worse than a presenter who presumes you know his like and dislikes. All this 'you know me, I don't read DC before Crisis On Infinite Worlds' and 'You all know I love the X-men' etc. It reeks of arrogance for someone with less than a third of his main rival's subscribers. Must have been a kick in the teeth when his beloved 'David Gabriel and the good folks at Marvel' started sending books to the competition lol.

Jack Kirby, like his style or not, is a master of scale and impact. He can make any moment land with the exact effect that he wants it to, which is why his cosmic stuff is so effective. He can make things not only look big and expansive, but FEEL that way. He can convey a massive range of emotions on his characters’ faces. When something explodes in a Kirby comic, you can almost hear the bang. It’s so rare for any visual art to feel like that, but Kirby’s does.
Jack Kirby was the reason I started collecting Omnis. My first Omni was Kirby/Lee Fantastic Four, Vol. 2, and it did not disappoint. I’ve followed Kirby’s career in mostly Omni form since then from his 60s Marvel stuff to DC’s 4th World. I had to get the Eternals Omni. Kirby’s the one guy whose less talked about work I will pay good money to have on my shelf.
ugh wow...I was just a kid in the 70's when my brother used to collect the Eternals...got me real big into Kirbys style of artwork with his FF run Captain America and his 2001 Space Odyssey adaption was gorgeous. If you think about it he made both marvel and dc's cosmic entity's as big as they are
That Monster-Size Eternals is beautiful - probably my favorite monster-size book thus far that you've been able to share. Omar, you're right - Kirby's artwork is gorgeous at that size.
It's cool to see that this book stands on it's own, without including the most known character roster. We don't need Spider-Man and X-Men etc to appear in everything Marvel to make it a good read. I think i will pick up this book sounds interesting. I liked Kirbys New Gods from DC, so it seems up my alley.
I have the omnie, but damn: I just pulled the trigger on the Monster size book. So good. I kept reading the omnie and kept thinking: This is too small!

I'm 10 years older than you Omar. I loved Kirby from the start (first comic I was probably 8-9 years old)...it took me about 30 more years before I appreciated (or even LIKED) Ditko though! I have Ditko is Strange and I have the this Eternals Monster size coming.
I have a idea for a future video i thought it would be fun to try and map out the web and spectacular Spider-Man epics and see how many volumes for each line. Look at the size of that whammer! Now that I've gotten into reading more of the big two, it's mainly the mystic and cosmic titles that ring my chimes; there's just something about Sword, Sorcery and Space Gods.
Monster-size book is massive!!! Too big for me though. I was leaning toward getting the Eternals Saga Omnibus but after seeing it reproduces the letter pages from Kirby's run seals the deal for me. Partial toward the Alex Ross cover although I do like Kirby cover too. I, too, have come to appreciate Jack Kirby more the older I became.
It's not Cosmic without the "Kirby dots" when i would draw supes as a kid and a character was posing I was once asked by my Mom"what the stuff around the characters hands was", I got quite irritated when she couldn't grasp that it was "energy". I later learned that what I called "energy" where in fact called "Kirby Dots"

Pronunciation of the Eternal Speedster is: Makkari. Pronounced: Mac-Ah-Rii. Moving on to Mr. Kirby: His Legal Birth name, was Jacob Kurtzberg. Best known by his pen name: Jack Kirby. He was born August 28, 1917. Passed away on February 6, 1994. Unfortunately, I never got to see him at a show. Historical Facts: Jack Kirby, entered the beginning comics industry in the 1930’s drawing various comics features under different pen names, including “Jack Curtiss”, before ultimately settling on Jack Kirby. In 1940 he and Joe Simon created ‘Captain America’ for Timely Comics ( which later becomes the Marvel Comics company). As to appreciation: On a personal note as a young teen artist, I too didn’t get into Jack Kirby, I followed other artists, I didn’t get the BiG Deal with his Art, or the fanaticism that other artists felt about him. It took many years, but now-I see. I don’t think I worship “Jack King Kirby.” It’s just not my thing, as I do not idolize anyone. Past my teen years as I grew, as a comic book reader, a student and an independent Artist on my own, I got to see other artists, Pencilers and Inkers alike. Some good, some great, some bad. That’s when it hit me, similar to what you said. Jack Kirby had that BIG Blocky style of art that he’d visually copyrighted, and is known around the world, as his style. But there was more. As I scrutinized other artists work I’d spend my hard earned money on, I realized that one of Mr. Kirby’s greatest traits, was that he gave every panel and every page - his all. Period. He never cut corners in his art and storytelling, unlike many other artists that did. One of my most disliked things a comic book artist could do, was “cut corners” and in essence cheat the viewer/reader. It’s all right to use a silhouette in a panel, or framing a character in a doorway with an empty background, used sparingly, and if it serves a dramatic beat of the Script. But as a cheap short cut? Naah! At that point, your just cheating your reader/viewer. I feel the same way about Commission Drawings. I never met him at a convention, or at any local “comic book show” as we called them back then. Wish I had. I’ve looked at a lot of copies of Jack Kirby’s Original Pencils - the same feeling permeates every comic book he ever penciled, from War, to Romance, Westerns, Superheroes, to SciFi. JACK KIRBY held nothing back!! He gave us his all!! He could teach volumes to many artists of today. Thank you, KidFlash.

I totally agree with you about not appreciating Kirby's work until later in my life and well after he had passed. A large part of it for me was my disappointment with the Hunger Dogs graphic since that was my first introduction to a New Gods project that Kirby had worked on. Now that I know the behind the scenes story of the production the Hunger Dogs, I place a lot of that blame on the editorial interference by DC corporate. I have gotten several of these King Size collections which are all worth seeking and am really looking forward to the Eternals King size edition. I am hoping we someday get a King Size version of Kirby's 2001 work but I know the chances are slim.
I believe the stuff Jack had intended to use for Thor he used for new gods and maybe some elements of the eternals as well. It would've been like a ragnarok arc or concept being played out in Thor's title at the time but sadly we all know how things got sour and Kirby left. Either way love this man's artwork, creativity, concepts, and genius. I just love Jack Kirby 🔥🔥🔥 but haven't read his new gods or externals stuff yet lol. Gotta get around to them in complete collection format. Hmm maybe in that oversized format in the case of the eternals maybe...maybe lol. Also it was editorial that made him guest star other characters from the Marvel universe into the eternals which Jack didn't want because he wanted to do his own thing while the editorial wanted this to connect to the marvel universe in some way I believe. So there was a bit of conflict there but ultimately Jack had to.
Fast Forward to November 11, 2021 and the monster Eternals is out of print, nowhere to be found and I've known of it's existence now for about 5 minutes. Not that I had over $90 set aside to buy this BUT still it would be nice to be able to DREAM about buying it for awhile. My Dream: "If I eat peanut butter sandwiches for a few weeks, or shower in cold water, or starve my cats..." So many ways I could dream about buying the Monster Sized Eternals. Or, maybe a wealthy person would remember me in their will soon so I can buy this thing on Ebay for US $186.85.
Clearly one of those old-timers, I love Kirby's work (and most of the SA as well as GA) and that Monster edition looks great - just ordered !! Not so keen on the omni though. The art looks even more amazing in the Monster one
I love these monster sized books. Unfortunately, I have limited space so I bought the Eternals omnibus instead. However, I bought the Jim Lee X Men XXL book. I had to have that one!
Would Marvel bother fixing the misprint on the back of the book that incorrectly lists the contents? The back of the book says it has issues like 1-11 or something if I’m not mistaken
This looks amazing, Man I hate that I can't get my 38 year old self to read comics. I got THe New Gods, Dark Knight Returns and some Marvel special team. I want to have this and I want to want to read it. I'm just used to cartoons. And time is shorter and shorter because of family. But man great artwork, great story. I really want to consume this...

I won't be buying either, not because I don't want them but bc I need to save money and I've long ago ran out of shelf space lol. But man do these looks beautiful. I've also grown more appreciation for Kirby's art as I've gotten older.
Just ordered this omni last night! Should be great! Wish we could somehow get reprints of that old Kirby 2001 series! I think that's where Machine Man made first appearance
Reading this right now. All I can say is “Puma man, he flies like a mooo-ronnnnn…” Seriously, go check out this episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (Pumaman), I legit think they based this movie off of Jack Kirby’s Eternals.
It’s good. Took me years to appreciate. A little confusing at first and then when they interwove the rest of the Marvel characters it seems like some felt force at first. Not as great as Fourth World by any means, but still good.
Science has gone too far. David Gabriel was so busy asking if he could that he didn't ask if he should. I don't think I've ever seen a book that tall in my life!

Currently reading this and why oh why is Thor 300 missing?! It contains a major storyline twist. Adding insult to injury I have Thor Epic 11 which starts at 303. Thor Epic 10 hasn’t been released....
would you say the omnibus would be a good read for someone who doesn't know much about the marvel universe? ive only read the todd McCfarlane amazing spiderman omnibus for marvel, but this seems interesting.
kinda odd you reviewed the eternals but not new gods which was before the eternals,since the Eternals was based of his new gods when he returns to marvel in 1975 for 2 years
Thanks for the vid...I'll be getting the oversized original series. I love the Doc Strange book, but storage is indeed an issue. I have mine stacked with artist edition type books for now laying flat on the bottom shelf of a bookcase.

I too only grew to truly appreciate Kirby's art once I hit my late 20s, but now is my absolute favorite.
