I pray that everyone that's facing Evicted in 2024 find another place to stay. I was once Evicted in January of 2024, luckily for me I found an apartment fast before the court date.🙏
So before you got the new apartment you couldn’t pay for the evicted apartment you were currently living in? That’s deposit, rent, utilities fees, and help with moving. That adds up to alot of money. Why not just pay for the current apartment
This is a sad one. The able-bodied people I don’t get too worried about, but this is an elderly gentleman with mobility issues. I hope he finds a safe place to go.
Yes it's sad but for the elderly that has a family member or someone to help they need to make sure rent is paid before anything me and my fiance has faced hardship after hardship but one thing about is bills are paid
your "prayers" as always are useless! might make YOU feel good that you've done something, but in actuality, you've done NOTHING. He'll no doubt get help from other HUMANS, and very possibly, a government agency that the working people pay for.
@doobly140 I gonna pray for you since u obviously got up on wrong side of the bed. I hope and pray someday you will deal with whatever angers you regarding God.
If they knew that they were keeping the money for back rent and they were going to evict him anyway then i'm sure they would have kept the 2700 dollars and used it for a down payment..i have been a landlord in the past and i would have told to keep it and move given he was in a wheelchair..no need to be hearless.
@RRRIBEYE Well here in Wisconsin (I'm a landlady), if we accept any back rent that a tenant owes after there's an eviction process started, we CAN NOT pursue with kicking the person out. Tennessee is a mess.
As soon as you fall behind in rent , get an understanding or some kind of arrangement to avoid being evicted. Communication goes a long way … people.. a long way
Some landlords will accept the money and still allow eviction to move forward so you're out of money and a place to live. Not all tenants are bums they're some low life landlords too!!!
They didn't evict people cause they missed 1 payment or were just late.He probably owed months of back rent and the landlords should get their money. This is a business not a charity.
The eviction process doesn't happen overnight and costs a considerable amount of time and money for the landlord. All the while the tenant is living in the landlord's personal property for free. Can the landlord stop paying the mortgage property taxes and other expenses related to the property when the tenant stops paying rent? Unless the total amount owed is paid whatever the tenant contributes is just taken off the amount they owed in the first place.
It's sad, watching him, leaning on his walker, with everything he owns in a pile on the yard. There are many resources that could help him. I hope he finds that help - and soon!
Yes and I wonder why he didn’t call those resources before this happened. This is a process not just a day or two. I hope whomever watching this and might be in this situation call resources before getting to this point. I really don’t know what resources are out there that would pay back owed rent. Even housing applications are closed.
@@SMincy25right?? He says "I gave some money!" Really??? It's all about priorities people. When you go to McDonald's you can't give them "some money" you have to pay in full. Not hard to understand.
@@confusedcynic9073 Same here, but I don't recommend it. Car lenders will always accept a late payment. Not so much with landlords. Your'e late once with me, and I'm filing for a writ and not accepting anymore payments. Keep your money and move.
$2,000 put your stuff in storage and rent a room til you can do better. This one was sad😢. Management should have been able to find an agency to help seniors with rent 🤷🏽♀️
Back in the late 1970's I always knew I would need a place to live when I graduated high school in 1980. I took all my savings that I had earned from working my summer time jobs and bought an acre of land and a mobile home for $5,750. That was 44 years ago and I still live in the same place till this day. If you do the math that averages out to be $11 a month it has cost me to have a place to call home. Next year my property will have completely paid for itself. I'm a "jack of all trades" and have kept up on all the repairs and upgrades my home has needed throughout all the 44 years. Everything works in my home as it was intended to 🙂. I had no worries of eviction when covid- 19 hit our country and I have never had to worry about that dreaded knock on my door from a landlord. I don't have anyone telling me what I can't do on my property because I live out in the country without any restrictions. I can work on my own cars, have overnight guests, and have as many cars and pets as I want without having to answer to ANYONE. I have never regretted buying my home ❤. Security is a wonderful thing to have in life..
Mr Penn you are so professional at what you do! Not to mention compassionate with those getting evicted. I haven’t seen a video I have not liked of yours! I do like the hour long ones though and the 2 parters. Keep up the good work! Your fan Sher
Penn, please remember you are working. Please set an axample for your workers, employer and viewers by NOT watching TV until you are at home or on your lunchbreak.
I agree with that 100%. And then to not edit it out of the video your posting was terrible. It was too loud and annoying as hell. Then when the worker asks a question, he didn't even shut it off. He tried talking over it. I've seen him do this several other times in other videos as well and thought the same then too.
You may need a second job to make enough to catch up - plus have an emergency fund started. you don't have to work 2 jobs forever, but always have extra - & all your money goes to rent first.
This channel is the number #1 reason why I make sure my mortgage is paid early every month . Even when I rented an apartment I never was behind on my rent . Bless his heart .
They owe like $4500 in back rent and they think that paying some of that should satisfy the landlord. Then they're surprised when the eviction becomes reality. Contrary to what they all say, they get notifications beforehand.
@@Maxine1630 I've seen where they've gone to the residence three times. The people won't answer the door, so they attach it to the front door each time where it can't be missed. Often the resident doesn't show up for court, so the landlord gets a default judgement.
@Maxine1630 So the notices that were left at their house were never seen and certified mail that was sent to them was never received? You can try to make people believe you didn't receive one notice but for the eviction process, you received several so nobody believes that you didn't receive notification.
@virginiacharbonnier7607 I used to be a DJ at various Clubs (500 people+) in a big urban city. At the end of the night, about 4am, we always be on the mic saying, "Ayee..glad you came, had a good time. NOW, you ain't got to go home, buuuut, you finna' get up out hea'". What's fdUp? She probably has nowhere to go. Her blame. Pray she is now getting her LIFE together. I PRAY she WILL step it UP.
Horrible situation for everyone, renter has no place to go and landlord won’t recover lost rent, attorney fees, court fees. This one video was impacting than the rest.
How come everyone who gets evicted never got notice? You're not paying your rent sir... what do you think their doing, waiting until you get your taxes to ask for their money???
He said "I paid her $2700" yet he was STILL $1300 in arrears... when is the last time he paid rent? Sounds like he hadn't paid rent for most of the year. 😮😮
@@konyiaa You're absolutely right "Life happens" but once he was 2 months behind he probably should have reached out to social services and gotten a case worker/manager to work with the landlord and the courts. Life happens but we have got to put pride aside and say "I need help!"
@@TheOlskool4ever People also wait too long. They think things will just work itself out. You have to be very proactive in these areas. Get ahead of it.
@@reginayfavors You're also right Regina. It just breaks my heart to see this because the man appears to be disabled and now he's out with no place to go. I wish there was a social service organization that could have stepped in and ordered immediate assistance to him until he got his finances back in order. 😢😢
@@TheOlskool4ever Yep, but men don't call. A woman would have been on the phone calling and trying to figure out "which agency" that would help. Men wait for a woman to come around and do stuff like that and then complain and cuss the woman out for helping. Regardless, stuff like this is sad because he is not really able bodied. I hope he can find a shelter.
Men don't keep receipts. That's one of their problems right there. People still deal with money orders when they should have the money deducted or something.
@@MyNameIsUnavailable No, they don't. Being an accountant and being a man are two different things. If you grew up with an accountant as a father, that is a higher level of responsibility and accountability. You're not the norm. You're the exception. Most men throw the receipt away and figure the thing is paid, so why keep the receipt? That's the norm. Take care. I don't want to fight. Don't always assume that you being responsible as a man is the same as every man. It's not.
@@reginayfavorshow many men do you know out of the 8 billion people that live on this planet? Don't lump every man or most men in the same category with what you've experienced with your irresponsible relatives and friends. BTW, I am a woman...have a great day.

I would have taken that $2700 ,and find another place if not a room someplace. I know he owe the landlord, but thats nasty work to have someone pay that mich and still kick them out. If he laid that much it shows he was atlleast trying.
I'd rather starve than to be homeless for real! Living in Dallas, TX, all I see are homeless people on the corners and under highways. Hell2daNo for me.
Even though he paid, he's still in the rears. $2700 is good but still owe $1300. So that means he was in tbe rear $4000. I know this looks bad, but rentng is a business at the end of the day.
Yes I think some tenants think they are in the clear bc they agreed on a partial payment but then are blindsided when they still get evicted. It’s like the landlord is gonna still collect even tho they know the papers are still being filed for eviction
Not a bad place to live at all and quite a sad story for the older gentleman. I pray that I never have to live where there are bars on all the windows and doors.
I've watched Landlord/Tenant cases on YT. So I am by no means an expert. I believe in Michigan if Landlords accept any money after the eviction is set, the court's will cancel the Eviction and the process has to start all over again. But this man needs a caseworker or something to help him figure things out. I'm living in my Brother's house because he passed away in 2022. If I could just have him back, I would be glad to be homeless. People think I am "strange" because instead of "getting rid" of his stuff, I am keeping it and throwing my stuff out. Maybe if he died of natural circumstances, I would feel different. All of my dreams, I'm waiting for him. Different places, but everytime I fall asleep, I am waiting for him to come home.
@debbie4503 In Michigan if a non-payment eviction is filed they can still collect even if not paid in full. They have extra time to execute the writ if they choose, but can still do it if it's not paid in full. The termination of tenancy cases are where they cannot collect rent once notice to quit is issued. They are able to sue after they're out for any back rent, even for the period they weren't allowed to collect while the case was pending. Every state is different though. Michigan allows wage and tax refund garnishments for civil judgments as well.
The landlord probably already had the issue the writ of the eviction and took the tenant's money knowing that they can still evict. After the judge makes his/her decision, payments made or not, the landlord can still evict UNLESS an arrangement is made IN WRITING with the judge's and the landlord's signatures allowing such arrangement,
My heart goes out to this man. However, what some people fail to understand is that landlords have to carry payments and repairs when tenants do not pay. If you're in an apartment, they generally move to evict the very 1st month when rent is missed. Private landlords will normally try to work with the tenant, but landlords have to survive too. It has always been interesting to me for people to expect more from a private landlord than wealthy investors who own apartment complexes. Landlords have bills just like the tenants. My husband and I are landlords, worked with tenants when they got behind, only for them to try to get over on us in the end. It's not a reasonable expectation for a landlord to tell a tenant, just keep the money you owe me and move. Even if the landlord can afford to do so, they should not be expected to. When tenants live in homes and fail to pay, they are then taking income from someone else. I simply refuse to pay for someone else to live in a home that's in my name.
Correction! I was almost Evicted from my one bedroom apartment in January of 2024. God blessed me with an apartment just in the Nick of time before was due in court on January 12th!
Everyone feels bad for the tenant, but hardly anyone ever feels for the landlord. This man has worked the system to stay in that unit for long as possible.
Medical issues are not the care of the Landlord. The Landlord rents you a place to live in and expects their payment on time & in full, every time. The Landlord does not rent their feelings to you!
I think this is one of the saddest ones that I’ve seen. To see an elderly disabled person being set out. Even if it was, his fault is still a very sad situation. I hope Social services in his area stepped in and provided him with some assistance.
I must be suffering from empathy burnout because unlike many of you I'm not shedding a tear. This man didn't just find out he's more than a year behind on his rent. He's been playing a game he knew full well what could happen.
New subscriber, look forward to more videos. Already viewed all on this channel😂keep up the good work. I need those amigos to clean out my shed, they work fast. And some of those evictions on this channel really require hazmat suits. Bless their hearts. I’m addicted to this channel!!!
Paying "some money" towards your rent is not actually going to keep you in your place, most times. I had a friend who had a partial stroke. He lost the ability to speak and read! So, this man's "mild strokes" were very mild indeed. I suggest that he call a storage facility and a moving truck.
I’ve survived two major strokes, six mild strokes and a mild heart attack and still work six days a week so you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. Strokes effect everyone differently. Drs at the er when I had my first two strokes said textbook wise I should have died so everyone is different.
Love your video. ❤❤❤When you get a chance, would you explain the eviction process? I know they get served. Many keep saying they don't know about the court date or follow-up? Trying to understand the process. I will say how you're always respectful and calm even during the most chaotic situations. I hope your workers are getting paid well. 😊 It's a tough job!
He's mad, yelling indignant and completely wrong. Before anything else pay your rent. Making partial payments will not a eviction. Acting like a belligerent bully is wrong.
According to the comment section, this individual paid 2,700.00 to continue living in that place, if I had that amount of money, most likely I would have taken that money and moved. 💯 ( especially since I have two underage children).... just My personal opinion. 💯
My Mother lives in a 55+ apartment complex. Very nice place and she loves it there. It is based on ability to pay for the rent with a minimum rent of $950 per month for 1 bedroom. Water, sewage, and heat included. Electric & cable/internet/phone she pays. She currently pays $1,050 per month now based on her current income. When my Father was living, they paid $1,375.00. Sad as it sounds, evictions are picking up in the building. The cost of living/medical expenses are rising to fast. They have also placed 5 illegal immigrant couples in the building, "over 55 but they sneak younger family members in." It is hard to believe they would evict a elderly person for a illegal but if you don't pay the rent ??? Illegals get up to $2,100 rent allowance. And they get free health care and EBT. The rumor mill in the facility claim the lessee wants the higher rents they get for illegals. I hope that's not true. My Mom loves it there. They have bus trips for the seniors and bingo, a shuttle for Dr. appointments. She has a room when she wants it at my home or my Sisters, but she is healthy and wants to live own her own as long as she can. I felt so sorry for this man with his health concerns being home less. I hope they called some organization that could help him get housing at least temporarily until he can find another place.
My heart breaks for him. I know landlords have to pay there bills but this man I would have allowed to catch up. He is disabled had two strokes My heart would not have allowed me to put him out. Even if I had to take a loss I would have given him a chance. Do unto others as you would wan them to due unto you.
@@tnolan3176 I agree Ive paid off my mortgage but my heart was torn because of him being disabled. One thing for sure you can’t beat God giving. So if you have to redo some things to help somebody out I promise you your blessing will not stop or go unnoticed by the one who has the hold world in His hands.
People who don’t pay rent really create hardships for property owners because they have mortgages, insurance and taxes to pay! As for the disabled man in this video…that sucks for him and I hope he landed somewhere safe.
Unfortunately life changing events happen even to those of us who plan, budget, save and prioritize. Just one bad stumping of your toe as my Dad used to say can take you down especially these days in this economy. Sad to see that it appears he has no real support system around him 😢
As soon as you get the eviction papers from the Court, don't sit down and wait....LOL. You either hire an attorney as soon as possible or just answer the Unlawful Detainer overnight, you have 5 days for this. If you don't answer you are done. Remember this, eviction is a lawsuit, everything is done in Court.
As an avid watcher, I have noticed you don't treat all of your evictions the same. Some people weather they're nice or not you tell them they got 5min to gather they things and get out, youre very adamant about it as well. .but that lady the guy was talking about the Mormons helped you let that lady stay in that house the whole entire time with her dogs yall were just laughing and playing around you never once even when she got out of pocket you never told her she had 5 not even 10 min to gather her things and leave. Treat everyone equal they all have a story as to why they ended up in this situation. Don't pick and choose who you decide to be nice to.
I used to be a maintenance person and I always used a drill to open doors. I started with a 1/4 inch drill bit where the key goes and most times a 3/8 bit. Once it hangs with the 3/8 turn the drill and it opens almost every time. I never tore up the casings or a door. I really enjoy your videos. I lived in West Memphis for a period but it's too rough a place to live.
In any eviction, they don’t just show up and say get out. The tenant is given notice , on many occasions they are given up to six months notice. If they choose to ignore the issue , then it’s on them. Burying your head in the sand is no way to deal with issues in life.
