I explain through photos, the evolution of the baseball glove from the 19th century to modern times. I posted this video at the end of my last flea market hunt video, but decided to post it as a stand alone video as well.
I am a reseller and part time antique dealer, specializing in Sports antiques, but also search for antique toys, historical items, and more.
Please visit my eBay and Etsy shops if you like the type of items I purchased in this video. Also I have live stream WhatNot Auctions generally once a week. Go to my link tree link below to get to my stores.

Great video. Just got into collecting vintage gloves. I have my dad’s glove, a Monarch V304 George Shuba from the 50’s. Thanks so much for what you do.

Thanks for the video. Would love to see some data on fielding errors and how/if there was significant change with the changes in glove design.

Thanks for watching. And yeah that would be interesting to see the changes in fielding success with the evolution of gloves.

@VintageSportFlips love the video and info thank you. Im brushing up on my baseball knowledge. Used to be a big time baseball card and memorabilia collector back in the 1990s-2005. I stopped cause it just seemed more and more players were not into playing they just played for the checks. Seems baseball was going down hill. But i have a question about these gloves. I have 2 witch 1 is from the 40s but i have 1 i think its from the 20s but i didnt see it in your vid. Its a e finger 1 thumb glove. Maybe you could give some insight on it?

Thanks for watching and glad you liked it. If you want to follow me on instagram (same name there and there is a link in the description) you can send me a photo of the glove and I’ll take a look. A little hard to visualize the style you’re describing. Thanks

@@vintagesportflips oh wow thanks for response didnt expect 1 or 1 so soon lol. I know a lot of people on youtube are busy or have tones of comments and its hard to respond to them. But as for the Instagram ect i have to apologize but im kinda old school and not much of a social media person. I have facebook and youtube thats about it lol. As for the glove its old and at first i had thought it was 1 of the first types of gloves introduced to baseball. But when i researched it. Google said its a 1900s or 1920s glove. But instead of having the 4 finger and thumb gloves there was a 3 finger and thumb glove. Its just the pinky is bigger to fit 2 fingers in. Or it could be the index finger i forget. I have my glove put up. You could probably google 3 finger and thumb 1920s baseball glove and it would show you. I thought you was going to show one in this video. My step dad played in minor leagues back in the 30s 40s and 50s. Met a lot of the pros back then and got lots of au baseballs that he had given to me. Some full team au's some single au's

@@shyskeleton1665 ok I know the glove style you mean - I think there was a typo in your original comment so I didn’t realize it was a 3 finger glove - I’ve had them before and they are definitely collectible.

@@vintagesportflips sorry i didnt get back to you. I go to bed kinda early for work. But yes thats what i was thinking. But my question was this type of glove wasnt in your evolution video. I would think being a very odd glove compared to the others someone would of wanted to put that in. But no biggy maybe you could make another glove video explaing them types of gloves. Ill tell you when i first got into baseball and came across this glove i thought i hit tue jackpot being it was an odd glove. Anyone seeing these gloves would of thought it was the first gloves to ever be used and then they went to 4 finger and thumb gloves. I mean everyone starts off with the oddest to worst thing before they figure out something better. Like our technology wasnt that good 50 years ago and now we all have cell phones ect. But sorry for long message and appreciate your response. Oh sorry if i wasnt clear before as well.

@@shyskeleton1665 yeah this video dealt with the basic timeline of gloves - there definitely are a lot of oddball styles of gloves that appeared over the years but don’t fit specifically in an evolution timeframe.
