btw The Haunting is based off of Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House in which we, as the readers, do get to see the background of Theodora. in addition, there is a more explicit triad situation going on between Eleanor, Theodora, and another male character.

About the point mentioned in the beggining:The problem with headcanoning characters as gay (and this is coming from a queer individual) is that some fandoms and communities headcanon every character from a show/movie (that has no confirmed ships/sexualities) as gay. Some examples are the My Hero Academia, Danganronpa, and Genshin Impact fandoms. Now there's nothing wrong when you headcanon a character as gay, but when you headcanon straight coded characters as gay, and multiple straight coded characters as well it's giving lgbtq fetishization. example: izuku midoriya from My Hero Academia, who is hinted at to have a crush on a girl in his class by him blushing whenever she talks to him and saying she looked pretty during an event where she was in a dress. Now who do the fandom ship with izuku? His (male) childhood bully and a distant (male) friend - neither of which are romantically involved with him. Heck, one of them even told him to kill himself. I also hate it when a male straight coded character is popularly headcanoned as gay because he has a feminine interest or has 'hot' friends. 'So he's dated multiple girls before and has a girlfriend currently but he likes gardening/cooking/fashion/etc? He's gay, obviously.' Of course headcanoning a character as queer is alright, but fandoms like the ones mentioned above fetishize the lgbtq community so much. My Hero Academia fans literally think every character is gay even when its proven overwise. And if you dont ship the popular queer ship in those fandoms, you'll get doxxed. But this is a lovely and well thought out video, you deserve so much more attention.

Hi there, I like the way you did this video a lot, but would like to point out one thing I'd change. In this video you equate queerness with sexual queerness, thereby erasing gender queerness and trans identities in the process. While I understand this is not your goal, it seems a little outdated to me to equate non-queer people with straight people, as it skims over all straight identifying trans people out there. Additionally, your movie discusses solely cis queer women, and makes no mention of the countless trans-feminine horror characters that the genre has seen. One such example is Silence of the Lambs, in which you choose to highlight the main character, someone who's queerness is incredibly subtle, over Buffalo Bill, whose (female) queerness is the centre of the movie. If queer women to you mean non-straight cis girls, I ask you to reconsider all those that you leave out of the discussion, and further into their marginalized position. - Sincerely, a trans viewer
