Highlights of the all time great Featherweight.
Kid Chocolate - Was a Cuban boxer who enjoyed wild success both in the boxing ring and outside of it during the 1930s. He started 1932 by winning his first eight bouts, including a world title defense in Havana against Davie Abad, beaten in 15 by decision. Then, he faced "Kid" Berg in a rematch, losing again, this time by decision in 15. He engaged in seven more bouts, including two decision wins over Johnny Farr, before fighting Lew Feldman on October 13. The fight was recognized as a world Featherweight title bout, but only by the New York state athletic commission. Chocolate won by a knockout in 12 rounds, gaining the New York world title. He retained that world title twice, including a third fight with LaBarba, before relinquishing it while in the middle of a European boxing tour that took him to Madrid, Barcelona and Paris. He won all of his fights on that tour by decision. Upon returning to America, he lost by a knockout in two in a rematch with Canzoneri, then lost his world Lightweight title, being knocked out in seven by Frankie Klick. After that fight, it was revealed that he was suffering from syphilis.

This is man is sort of legend in Cuba. I always heard he was one of only a handful of people who stopped the traffic in Broadway. He was teh best dressed man of his time. Had all the women he wanted, even famous actresses. And he died poor and almost forgotten. There is a great biography if you can read in Spanish, called El látigo de jab sobre los rostros. I had it dedicated by Kid Chocolate himself, that unfortunately I lost.
@Cesarhernandez-wv3do

He died poor because Castro took all his money and property.
@deifor
@deifor 2 года назад
@@Cesarhernandez-wv3do he spent al his money on the abovementioned luxuries. He was already poor when Castro took over. This happens to many poor people who suddenly have money but they don't know how to have money. Mike Tyson is a telling case in point.

Tyson Definitely admired Ali but more so Luis Dempsey and Marciano. On his podcast recently he emphasizes how much he studied n looked up to Rocky n how that man had the ability to jus beat a man to death if he wanted to. Ruthlessness and undying endurance and aggression also being a short man for heavy weight but made it work

Kid Chocolate came a little bit before Ezzard, and Langford came years before Kid Chocolate. I can definitely resemble some Langford in-fighting in this highlight reel though, very similar fighter to Langford in a way. Chocolate was known for studying old-time fighters... That included Joe Gans, Barbados Joe Walcott, and even Sam Langford.
