I find it so funny that Jack never saw the center door knob. It showed up 3 times. The one time he got it right was the one he thought the ceiling was on backwards.
@@MM-jf1me Yeah, it's even funnier that he got rid of it by accident by mistaking the ceiling as being wrong when it wasn't. He didn't see it at all, including when he 'defeated' it! :D
8:25 imagine if youre going through the subway and you decide to smile at some dude passing by but then he does a full 180 and runs of screaming "Hes smiling, hes smiling!! Smiling men are dangerous!!"
If you're smiling to someone in the subway, you're a psycho. NOBODY smiles in the subway, except dangerous lunatics or serial killers. The police will be called for an emergy intervention and put you in jail, where you will learn to not smile, you bloody maverick ;)
I love how Sean not only beat the game quicker than most people, but actually took time to explore and see the remaining anomalies. I didn’t even know that was a thing you could do until this video!
@@kate_isawesome1207 hahahahaha, what?? XD what are you talking about?? that makes no sense??? XD that's just how the typed laughing face thing has *always* been, have you been bothered by literally everyone ever who's written it differently than you think it should be? like, the capital D is a laughing mouth, why would you insist it should be lowercase and get distressed about it, that's kinda odd? XD
@xeldabutterfae407, NOT FUNNY!!!! DX PLEASE USE LOWERCASE "d"(Xd OR xd) INSTEAd!!!!! ## d ## YOU ARE BAd, XELdA!!!!! STOP GIVING ME WRONG LAUGHINGS!!!! I HATE THEM!!!!!
Looking at a guide that listed all the anomalies, I think the one Jack managed to get right without having going down the hallways *was* the doorknob one, since he was willing to replay twice to get the rest. I thought the last one would be that one but it being the glitched face makes me think the doorknob one was the "skipped" anomaly.
@@Hermi0Taurus Yeah pretty sure the one where he assumed the ceiling was the wrong way was actually the doorknob which sucked as he lost to it twice so would've been nice to see he's reaction.
I just gotta say, Seán's editor deserves an award. Not only for the flashy, dramatic effects but for the super subtle things like the transparency on the facecam when something goes behind it. Diceroll, I appreciate all the hard work and dedication you put into these videos and I love all the content Seán does as well.
I just woke up and me and Jack out here fangirling over Alan Wake XDDDD my gosh dude God bless ♥️♥️♥️ made my whole day and it didn't even start yet XD
This game gives me chills because I have to walk down a long, underground tunnel underneath a building that's over 100 years old every day to and from work. If I leave late I'm the only person there, but every once in a while there will be one other person in there who completely doesn't acknowledge my presence at all. It kind of has this feeling (minus the weird changing environment and the infinite loop).
Imagine you walk down that hall again, see only one person there walking past you, and then you turn the corner and there it is, the same hallway with the same person walking by you.
They're probably scared of you or are being nice. If they communicate with you, you might think you're going to think they're setting you up for a robbery. Or they might be scared to make eye contact lest you decide to rob them. Assuming at least one of you is male. I imagine two ladies would be fine with each other and will assume neither is a threat and won't be perceived as a threat.
I just can‘t believe it…I was in Japan for one year and every day I went through such a passage at my subway station. It was a really long passage with many turns that looked exactly like the one in the game and every time when I walked through it, I was thinking of the backrooms and how it has potential to be turned into some kind of horror game where everything repeats. I can‘t believe someone actually made a video game of these passages, that is so cool!
And yet through all of these anomalies, the power outage is probably still one of the most unsettling ones, because you're plunged into complete darkness with no sense of which way is forward, and the ambient hum that you've gotten used to is suddenly no longer there. It's just pure silence and pure darkness.
Fun fact! The yellow part of the floor is actually tactile flooring to help the visually impaired. Unlike in the USA where these usually only show up at the end of a pathway, in Japan these are all along the sidewalks! You'll notice when you have to change directions that the texture changes to indicate a change in direction, or if you're approaching a road, to stop! People are very considerate to not walk on this even when no one is actively using it, exceptions being when passing someone who is slower than you. Overall I consider it a much more practical system than what the USA has, though I'm not visually impaired and cannot comment on its true effectiveness either way.
Oh I love that! I wish we had a more accessible system like that but considering most major cities are a nightmare for wheelchair users I don't see it happening anytime soon. Thanks for sharing the info!
As an adult who struggles with mental health, whenever I feel like the world is too much or if there’s too much on my mind that I just can’t shake or forget, I like to watch these videos and I almost immediately feel better. My mind is so occupied by the demeanor and “vibe” of this channel and it’s comforting and I completely forget what I was stressed out about. Today, I was feeling overwhelmed, I couldn’t shake the thought of something and as soon as I turned this video on I felt relief so I just wanted to say thank you for making videos. Keep doing what you’re doing man 😁
It took a while to find the doorknob on the 3rd door. 6:40 and 25:03 and 26:53 It wasn't "found" until 28:05 when "the ceiling's different" so he guessed and missed it entirely.
Amazingly, Jack didn't miss that many things. Things Jack missed, in case people wanna know: 6:38 The doorknob was in the center of the door. 19:44 The lady's face in the blue poster are smudged. 25:02 Center doorknob again. 26:53 Doorknob again. 30:25 Jack didn't check it but by process of elimination the sign says TurnBackTurnBack. For the one Jack thought the ceiling tiles look different, I couldn't tell you what was wrong because Jack didn't go down the hallway, but I believe that's it! If I got it wrong do tell me. Edit: The one where Jack thought was the ceiling tile might finally be the doorknob! Because anomalies don't repeat, since we didn't see the doorknob again it must be the doorknob anomaly.
@@hasendrops5546 Ah yeah, that might be it. I thought that was the case too because I remember that the first hall is always a mulligan, but I wasn't sure.
@37:20 he found turnbackturnbackturnback i keep watching @30:25 and i cant figure out what it is. edit: its late and i'm being stupid. turnback must be it because he doesn't clear it until the timestamp i posted and i had a brainfart on the timeline lol
This game just gives me flashbacks to when I got lost in the underpass (underground mall?) of Osaka at night and all the exits were closed and I struggled to find a way out for an hour. I assume that’s the feeling this game is trying to capture cause it feels uncannily similar. Minus the closed up shops.
Just hit 2 mins in and I’m already scared. This is so much worse than just looking at a camera, the manual movements and actually being IN the space makes it so much scarier.
I'm honestly impressed that Sean managed to catch those subtle faces in the floor at a glance, but missed the third door's doorknob moving to the center of the door THREE TIMES after looking directly at it lol
17:08 I agree. Nothing wrong about Observatory Duty, but Exit 8 has a good way of giving not much to work with but something just makes you paranoid about it without having to stress because there isn't a time limit
Jack actually ran this the fastest I’ve seen anybody do it. A couple gamers couldn’t even finish it because they were blind to the posters growing or the faces on the floor and kept getting caught by them over and over.
Believe it or not others have played this for 3 play throughs just to beat the floors. Nevermind finding all anomalies. Very good job Sean. Way to go bro.
28:06 for anyone who is wondering, Sean got this anomaly that he missed for 2 times: 25:03 26:53 The door lock and the handle is placed in the middle of the door, which they were supposed to be on the left side of the door.
@@fancy_owo I think that was just him 2nd guessing the ceiling but there was another anomaly anyways (which I'm guessing was the doorknob or some other one I don't know of)
4:13 Jack: "The eagle eyes of Seán McLoughlin are piercing" 14:55 Also Jack: "I don't have eagle-like eyeballs for this" I guess that's how he balances out overconfidence and underconfidence (by having both 😛) 🦅👁
27:18 when Sean mentioned the smoke alarm I was like "OH MY GOD SO IM NOT CRAZY!", I LEGIT thought it was a smoke alarm upstairs in my house I was like "wtf??"
27:28 editor is WRONG and sean is right. I thiught i was losing it too, but yes. There IS a low battery fire alarm sound, or a faint sneaker/loafer squeek from the walking man. Its one of those, but definitely something. Sean isn't crazy this time 😅 great video!!! Loved all the runs
jack missing the doorknob no less than 3 times got me good lol edit: AND THEN THE ONE HE MISSES BECAUSE HE THOUGHT THE CEILING WAS WRONG WAS THE DOORKNOB AJHDFSBSADJHFGBJAKKAKJHDASHK HAHAHA
I'm not sure how to feel about that. On one hand, congrats, on the other, tons of people die with the proper equipment and that sounds like a horrible, horrible idea that could've easily ended with just another corpse. :[
so if you want to know the anomaly you accidentally got (when you turned back thinking the ceiling was off), the third door's doorknob was in the middle of the door. i wasn't able to see it but it was the only other anomaly left that you had missed beforehand, pretty subtle
Someone should make a game like this where absolutely nothing changes. See how often people just psych themselves up into thinking something has changed and screwing it up before they realise.
Sean missed the doorknob of the third door being in the wrong spot twice, and then accidentally caught it when he went back thinking something else was wrong when he didn't even see it lol.
They need to make one anomaly where the guy sprints towards you and just doesn't stop for a few loops. Also, if anyone's wondering about the one Jack didn't know he got correct because he thought it had to do with the ceiling, was actually a misplaced door knob. It was on the center of the door.
For anyone wanting to know what he missed: 6:38 The last door has the knob in the middle of the door 10:38 He should've kept going because the fact that it didn't change is an anomaly The fact that he won and only made two mistakes is amazing. 19:44 I'm pretty sure he missed the lady on the blue poster looking creepy but he moves by it so fast I couldn't quite tell 21:16 Again, should have kept going 25:03 Again, center knob on end door 26:53 Again, center knob on end door. He really ain't checking that one door 28:13 Idk, but it wasn't the ceiling/lights 30:11 Idk what he missed. Idk possibilities: The center knob and the repeating 0's. Though I think he might not have shown a couple of them? I wasn't keeping close track of how many we had seen and how many he had left. I also don't think I know all of the anomalies.
I'm pretty sure 30:11 is the concourse sign being replaced with "turn back turn back turn back" cause its one of the few anomalies he had left, combined with the fact that he didn't check the concourse sign
Jeez, no wonder i absolutely enjoy watching you play horror game. there's no end when you didn't complete the accomplishment. A nice one jack worth to watch
sean missing the creepy face poster the first time he got it despite looking over the posters twice is ridiculously funny but also weird because that poster is so unnerving to me that I look for it every time
I’m doing pretty good Tysm for asking, and it’s just because of breathing problems and other stuff I’m not gonna get into. But I’ll probably get out soon, Ty for worrying and being so sweet@@christianparrish3292
The speedrun will probably go much deeper- they'll read the code to figure out how the rooms generate and they'll develop a way to manipulate it so they can get the same outcome every time.
Imagine being the npc and just walking through the station and a man running down the hallway staring at you and screaming “ARE YOU SMILING!? WHY ISN’T IT OBVIOUS! I HATE THESE ONES!?”
thankfully this game was more of a thing where you look for something that's suspicious where you go like "huh, that's not right" instead of having to look for something that is different and having to memorize everything
jack might be one of the only youtubers who i saw playing this game who looked/notice the back of the sigh (concourse) at the start (others i think didnt look there until much later) jack is cool :0
