Here we are with a vide that should have been out on Friday, it's a holiday special with my brother watching The Exorcist and this was one hell of a video to edit; I'm sorry if it seems weird or awkward with the muting and removing of the video at times; it was the only way to get this up!

@@uggggggghhhhh Don't be silly, Rosemary's Baby was not even a possession movie. And who the hell has seen all those obscure earlier movies you mention to be influenced by it at all ? Most possession movies take their cue from The Exorcist because it was HUGE, it was maybe the biggest modern cultural phenomenon before Star Wards came along, causing mass hysteria, long queues around the blocks and requiring ambulances to be stationed at cinemas as so many people are fainting and mentally wrecked by the movie ... Tell me how many of the earlier possession movies (or later) has this kind of effect and attention ?

With the beginning of the film, Father Merrin uncovers the head of a little figurine of the demon Pazuzu, whom he recognized because he had previously exorcised the demon years ago. So then he has a premonition later that another battle with Pazuzu is coming, with the clock randomly stopping and him almost getting ran over by the carriage. So to confirm his suspicions he goes to some old ruins where there is an old statue of Pazuzu and knows for certain when he sees the dogs fighting each other (the dogs of war have been unleashed). The dissolve to Georgetown right after is to show you where this battle between good and evil is going to take place.

Released almost 50 years ago and it is still slaying audiences. The period from the late 60's to late 70's saw some incredible films, this being among the best. The slow build in any story is to get the audience invested in the characters and care about what happens to them and this movie does that brilliantly. Most younger people that watch this today are laughing and having a good time for the first half and then they find out what film making is about.

I love how it's always like this in any reaction to The Exorcist. In the beginning, nobody pays much attention to what's happening on the screen, they can even make fun of some scenes, but when the end gets closer, the audience's involvement with the movie story is very clear. So, in the end it's always the same thing: perplexed faces, devastered people, blown minds and a lot to think about for the next few days. This is clearly one of thoses movies that wears us out little by little. Best horror movie ever! That's it!!!

You should have seen The Exorcist in a darkened theatre with all the nervous vibe in the room because of all the hype around it when it came out! It had MUCH more of an impact! You have to realize that at this time there had been NO horror movie even close to this. When I went to see this movie we were seven in our group. My brothers, sister, sister-in-law and a close family friend. At one point my eldest brother who was 25 at the time flew out of his aisle seat and landed in the aisle. When he recovered he walked out of the theatre and didn't come back. Us being Catholic we could identify more closely to what was going on in the movie. We understood all the religious things happening. Also, we knew this was based on a true story. For me, well for days afterwards, when ever I closed my eyes I could see Regan's face at its worse. To this day I still feel this is the all time best horror movie. I loved it when you guys said at the beginning "Are you excited?" and "No". I KNEW you would change your mind and you were in for a big surprise! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I was five months old when this movie came out. My father went to see it with friends while my mother stayed home with me, as she was too freaked by the crazy press it was getting. People were puking in the theaters and running out, etc. My father came home, and was telling my mother all about it. It was well after midnight, and as he silently explained the story to my Mom, I slept a few feet away in my crib. As he was whispering about it, a large glass picture frame fell from the wall, smashing to the ground and scaring the crap out of them. They shrieked out, as they were already spooked from the movie. It sent me into a crying fit that lasted a half an hour. So technically, this movie scared me even before I knew what ANYTHING was. And it's been creeping me out ever since.

A little Exorcist trivia. When Linda Blair is flopping around on her bed. That isn't CGI special effects, she was actually being pulled violently by wires. And when that happened it damaged her back for the rest of her life. According to Google: "Yanked violently around in harnesses, both Blair and Burstyn suffered back injuries and their painful screams were included in the film. Burstyn injured her back after landing on her coccyx when a stuntman jerked her around using a special effects cable during the scene when Regan slaps her mother".

By word of mouth, I was aware of the head spinning, vomiting and language but what freaked me the most were the demon flashes.😱 2. When the doctor is looking at Regan's skull x-ray and says, "Nothing in there" I always 🤣 3. The spider-walk down the stairs was NOT in the original release. 4. The loud banging with the medical equipment is for our benefit. 5. Father Merrin and the demon had a previous encounter where he almost killed the father. Merin doesn't acknowledge the receipt of the note and tells Karras there's no need for analysis. 6. Chris MacNeil/Ellen Burstyn actually injured her hip when the demon makes her hard fall. 7. The demon doesn't kill Merrin. From the beginning we know he has a heart problem most likely brought on by the previous encounter. 8. Karras doesn't kill the demon. He does manage to draw it out of her and sacrificed himself for her. 9 Karras is confessing and asking for forgiveness for his loss of faith

The old priest at the beginning of the movie is an Exorcist. He has had experience in a couple of exorcism, and the last one almost killed him. The artifact that the dug up was a demon that the catholic church had buried. The priest realized that there was going to be a possession some where in the world, so he.climbed up on the hill to stare at the statue of the demon because he knew he was going to be called on to perform and exorcism by the catholic church and he knew he had to get prepared for the battle, because he knew he had to pray up and make sure that the devil couldn't used any psychological thing against him. What is so scary about this movie, and it affected me so bad, I xouldn't even sleep inside a house for 3 months. What makes this.movie so scary is that it was based on a real life true story, but it was a young black.child that a demon had passed. The real scary thing about the movie was psychological for me, because at 17 years old, I couldn't phantom that the devil was so foul and to me, God wasn't.powerful enough to work thru the priest to exercise the devil out of this young innocent child, and the devil did some.of the.most foul thing against her, and to.me I.couldn't understand why God would allow the.devil to destroy this young child's body and.mind like it did. The young priest used to be a boxer before he became a priest, and the reason the.movie is showing you these different people is because, they all had some unbelievable sins in their lives that they.only hid. Some each had their own thing to iver come with God, and the innicen little girl was possessed by the devil do to her mother's sins. So you have to go back and watch the entire movie to where it isn't stopping and starting back up to really get the reason why it was such a psychological terror to every one. The graphics were great back done, but.we know that the present youths of today and younger adults are used to great computer graphics, but all of these graphics was because of great directing. You have to watch and follow what each main character is going thru. If you are performing an exorcism, you can have anything in your life that you have done and try to hide from.others, because the devil has some.powers simular to God, in that, he is able.to see your inner thoughts and sins, so he uses it against you, and it is what he did to everyone that came into contact with it. So to me at the end, I felt that God didn't win this horrible battle, and you will see atnthe.end what happened to the youn priest, and remember he was a fighter. So his belief in his calling as a priest was powerful.enough, so the devil used it against him.
